    Default Forgetting things

I find it hard to remember martial arts and dancing moves and such. I need to refresh the information constantly. Any ideas?

I think it is related to the role function. I have seen how SEEs and SLEs forget how to solve math and physics exercises, for instance.

I came to this thread ready to shout NTR! MEMORY DEPENDS ON THE PERSON, NOT THE TYPE! ... but then realized you had specific examples.

Girls tend to be better at remembering dance moves, generally. But your other examples, maybe it is related to function. Generally, I'll just say that people tend to notice and remember information that they naturally determine to be useful. (aka valued )

You prolly remember stuff better when it pertains to your strong/valued functions.

Weird. I remember karate katas that I learned 10 years ago by pure muscle memory. Someone taught me the waltz and salsa once in the space of about 20 minutes and I like to think I'm proficient in both
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

Both, but specially the latter. At the same time, I no longer play videogames on a regular basis, but I remember almost everything when I deal with a game I buried years ago. I am not as good as I used to be (in action games), but I can still compete. Videogames involve physical action with your hands, so this makes me feel confused: for instance, if I tried to learn a difficult dance style, would I master it?

To some extent, practice makes perfect or so they say. But, how good can someone become at something related to a weak, non valued function?

I forge those things easily too. I don't think it's related to S; I think it may be related to not giving things enough attention or practice.

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

Of course, but I have seen people who have invested years in learning a foreign language or whatever and have never got results.

Sometimes, it has to do with the age at which you learn these things, too. I can't forget any of the Armenian I learned up to third grade, nor can I forget the French, or other languages I learned around that time or before.

So let's focus on young, normal people

I had never a problem in learning the moves in fact, that's why I asked, but I could rarely learn sequences (called "katas" in mainstream Japanese schools). Maybe your teachers were not explaining them properly, I normally remembered them like some sort of a structured whole - like you remember the cardinals or the position you have to insert the key in the lock. For instance, the kicks are all the possible obvious kicks one can perform.
I could learn them correctly - and I was sometimes asked to show new guys how to do it - because the teachers were explaining them, there was a reason behind every detail, for example you knew you had to turn your hip when performing a round kick, because you knew where force needed to be directed. I could make the logical difference between a round kick with the pelvis oriented forward - basically a variation of the front kick you use to kick someone in the groins - and a side round kick, which is the only principal manner to properly strike the head of a standing man with this leg swing. I think martial arts are pretty systematic and easy to learn (not saying that necessarily makes one a good fighter, though).

But. I'm a multiple fingering retard . I could never learn piano, and although I can record a decent guitar, I use less fingers than recommended, because I can't remember complex arrangements - the keys are in the end kinesthetically all the same... This is what I can't remember, things that are only conventionally different, but inherently the same, just having a different order, name, tone or color, I can properly remember mainly things that are designated for something specific and necessarily so, having a rule behind it. If for instance there are 8 people, dressed in a different collor each, I will forget who wore what/who preferred what at a later time, but if they're dressed based on some principles (eg personality or skin/hair color), I can precisely remember and reproduce that.

Each one of us uses 100% of their brain but not constantly, a CPU running 100% in processes constantly isn't a a good sign at all.

As long I learned something and this something is actually helping me in some way or another, and I am aware of that, I don't forget such things.

    On the other hand,

Things I learned and don't find any practical use for I tend to forget and need to check once again providing I still care for it.
