Fe-egos and social skills

I understand that having certain elements in the ego block does not necessarily imply being "good at" things typically associated w those elements. I'm curious, though, how this manifests, especially in IXFps and EXFjs, some of whom seem to botch social situations regularly despite having strong, valued Fe [and supposedly strong, if unvalued, Fi]. It seems to me that IXFps and EXFjs I've known tend to have either very strong or very weak social skills....

I'm thinking, the healthier or better-developed [whatever that means] a person is, the more proficient they are w their strong/valued IEs. Yes? Has anyone observed this happening w Fe-egos? I'm very curious....

my roommate is a very socially awkward ESE (at least as far as I can tell, sometimes it can seem like supervision, but I think that comes from his own insecurities) and he hangs out with deltas a lot. As soon as he gets riled up, everyone (the deltas) start looking at him funny and start teasing him about it. I can see how if you've had a lot of bad experiences with people that can't appreciate your ego functions no matter what type you are, you can become socially awkward.

Around other alphas though, his emotionality really comes out and it's quite funny. He's mostly awkward around new people. and girls.

Based on my experience that could acutally make sense, I was pretty awkward in HS and that was when I had few to no betas in my life. I'm far less awkward now that I'm not confined to socializing with certain people and am free to associate with whom I choose.

The ESFJ guy at our workplace is hated by everyone, because of his outbursts at everyone who doesn't do his job well enough.

I always wondered why F is called 'ethics'. Because most of the time the people with poor, mean or strange ethical ideas are the F types. Especially Fe.

I guess the name ethical is justified because they are simply more focussed on the human aspects in situations, though it doesn't necesseraly imply that they treat those aspects well.

I see what you are trying to say. But I was just showing that F types are more common unethical as one might expect with a function called ethics.

It only seems unethical when you apply a different set of standards. They probably have their own justification for their behavior, however unethical it might seem to you. It's perfectly reasonable (in theory) for you to see an ESEs actions as unethical though.

I agree.

yet I would think that there are also 'objective' ethical standards. for example, my colleague is really fast with calling someone an asshole, he does it every day a couple of times. I cannot imagine that there is anyone who would call that ethical.

If anything, having strong Fe means you notice social awkwardness and are more apt to know you are being awkward. That is all. It has little bearing on "getting along" with everyone.

and i would also like to state that i might imagine ESE's being typically explosive since they're present-oriented and possibly fail to see the big picture... they're the definition of excessive drama, if you ask me; even more so that EIEs, who seem more goal-oritented. =-O
