Default New Type Reps. for SLI -- Round 1

If you've not done so, please read this thread first.

In this poll, please select all the nominees that you think are not fit to represent the SLI type. This would include nominees that you don't think are SLI, as well as nominees that you agree are SLI, but you don't think are good representatives of the type for one reason or another.

What do these signs mean—, , etc.? Why cannot socionists use symbols Ne, Ni etc. as in MBTI? Just because they have somewhat different meaning. Socionics and MBTI, each in its own way, have slightly modified the original Jung's description of his 8 psychological types. For this reason, (Ne) is not exactly the same as Ne in MBTI.

Just one example: in MBTI, Se (extraverted sensing) is associated with life pleasures, excitement etc. By contrast, the socionic function (extraverted sensing) is first and foremost associated with control and expansion of personal space (which sometimes can manifest in excessive aagression, but often also manifests in a capability of managing lots of people and things).

For this reason, we consider comparison between MBTI types and socionic types by functions to be rather useless than useful.

I've heard of two of these people. We can't have a nobody represent a type. That defeats the purpose.

OMG well we can't be basing things on Abbie's sheltered existence.

Come on, EVERYBODY knows who Martha Stewart is!!

I haven't heard of a couple peopl in the list (the Campbell guy and 1-2 others) but actually this is not a bad list at all imo!!

(Though my understanding was Martha Steward is LSE, but hey delta ST could be a close call).

I couldn't say it's exactly a "good" list as such... I can think of four people in that list (Letterman, Colbert, Edison and Norris) who don't seem Delta ST at all. But it's not as horrible as the LSE one.

Oh well it looks like people outside the US really only know her for her conviction and jail time, but in the US, Martha Stewart really is an icon of homemaking. So much so that she is still highly successful after having served her time. (and I suspect she didn't realize she was breaking the law when she did what she did--I think a lot of people believe that). She is a stickler for perfection--she did have a history of being really demanding of her staff and yelling at them for anything less than her high standards (which is more consistent with LSE). Seems like she's softened a bit though, perhaps because of the negative publicity about that when she was in trouble.

I suspect Mel Gibson wouldn't be a good person to have as a representative for any type. If he was historical and more noteworthy and representative of whatever his type is, then maybe .

I'm aware of those facts. My opinion is based solely on the few episodes of her show I happened to see. I think it's all bullshit and constant self-promotion, not a single useful tip as far as I could tell. BTW it isn't just supervision effect, a lot of people were disappointed when it first aired here because they knew of this "icon of homemaking" label.

Socionically, I don't see anything against LSE. She's clearly logical and probably a rational. I could see either Ej or Ij temperament, really.

Agreed wholeheartedly. He is certainly a very unhealthy representation of whatever type he is.

I think I've heard of Mel Gibson before...isn't he a movie director?

I discovered Martha Stewart's existance from a comic strip. I didn't get it.

So.. Steve McQueen wins? He kind of encompasses a lot of good and bad sides actually. Not ridiculously badass like Chuck Norris.
