Default Free e-book on what brain scans show about who we are

I haven't read it so I don't know the details about this book, but I know some people here are interested in this and might like to read it. And it's free! It's for the nook but you can read it on your computer too with some app or something.

Sweet find. I'm going to dig into this today.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

FUCK it's asking for a credit card. Fagetaboutit. If anyone gets this on a PC and can share the file I would be grateful.

Shit happens. I'm sure someone will get it on their PC eventually, and then all they will have to do is use putfile.com and everyone can get it.

    kewl, thanks bg and MS.
This is one of the few things that, with dropbox, makes the ipain worthwhile....ebooks with color images, heh.

edited to add: nevermind, i don't think there's any pics in this book still may be worth a read

there is a section that has two links that have to be copied and pasted. use the fileserve one, then find on that page the free service, which is somewhere on the right, mid to low page. I'll see if I can pull up the link.

Incorrect download. Try wupload and you're going to view it your browser. That is, the link BG posted - first one, not second one.

I'm not sure where to put this, so if it needs to be moved, then go ahead and move it.

I just finished reading chapter 1 "Life, death, and the middle ground". And I'm a bit irked at the communication tool that is being used for the LIS guy. Seriously? An alphabet board? Wouldn't it be easier to use some kind of morse code system? I dunno. I'm not even sure how the alphabet board is set up. Hopefully not in alphabetical order. I can imagine pros and cons for qwerty and other keyboard arrangements. I certainly hope that they looked up various alternatives. And I hope he's able to take lots of short cuts instead of spelling out each word in full. lol, in his case, death to the grammar nazis!!

sorry, this chapter was just...scary...to me.

warning, the first page (the cover) is out of proportion and looks weird, but the pages after that are normal

i can attest to the pretty pictures in that book. but I think it's a coffee table book, it's kind of weird reading it on a screen.

That,s ok, I have both books, but have been wanting to share/show things from them. But mostly from that Human Brain Book, which yes, is wonderful to have a hard copy of! It's gorgeous! And my absolute fav for introductory info.

Other books I am considering buying are:
"Brain: the complete mind" by Michael S Sweeney
    (actually, almost anything by him)

"neuroscience: exploring the brain" by mark f bear
    (a textbook)

"networks of the brain" by olaf sporn

    "brain bugs" by dean buonomano
(just cuz I like exploring these kinds of ideas)

    "Exploring consciousness" by rita carter
(another one that i could only find that stupid review pdf for)

But only if you are bored and/or want to.
I'm actually quite happy that you found the human brain book...ok, i'm actually jumping up and down, lol.

yeah. you've got to download all 4 parts before you can extract it (just in case you've never dealt with multi-piece rars )

I'm just assuming, i could be wrong. maybe they actually split the book up into 4 parts. that would be kind of weird though. usually they compact the whole thing, then split that file into parts to upload (those file sites usually have a limit on the size of the file for non paying members)

ehh... the chance of it ever being a problem are really really slim. we can always edit them out if they do happen to pass that law (which i'm pretty sure they won't, and even if they did, that they'd track that book down to here)

After downloading the first part, i got distracted. The past week or so, i kept telling myself to get on the netbook and finish downloading it, but didn't get to it till today. It's gone. And I can't find any active links to it (bears').
