    Default Questions for Lead Functions

Could somebody give me examples of questions that a person with a certain lead function would be most comfortable answering?
For example, a Ti lead would be more comfortable answering "how do you systematically approach getting dressed in the morning?" than an Fi valuer?
    Things like that.

    Here are more examples.
Fe - what is the most exciting thing to do on a weekend?
Si - what is the best way to relax?
Fi - Is such-and-such an ethical practice?

    Etc.

I would love for some of you to add to (or correct) this list.
    Thank you in advance

i'd have a hard time even taking that question seriously.

Okay that's great... I didn't mean the question seriously. It was an example so that others would know what I was looking for, because I didn't phrase my... prompt(?) very coherently.

I and other Ti leading types seem to enjoy critiquing movies and things like that.

Yes, of course they do. What I mean is what lead function is the BEST at answering WHAT kinds of questions. on the socionics.us blog there is a post about certain people who are very good at communicating in a way that "streams" information, and when they do so it creates a hypnotic kind of effect.
    http://socionics.us/blog/9_06.shtml

what I want to know is what kinds of questions would launch that stream for each different of the 16 types (or 8 lead functions).
Any type can answer any question. But which would be the most comfortable and be able to talk the longest about which kinds of questions? That is my question.

If you haven't seen this yet start here:

    http://socionics.us/works/semantics.shtml

As you progress through threads on this site take note of longer posts and their writer's type. Since I don't think any IEs operate individually it's better to think of them at least in blocked pairs.

    Two Ni-Te examples from me:

Rick made a list of such questions. Here are some modified versions/ my own questions. A lot of them only work in person / certain situations.

Te: Is this place being run efficiently? How could it be run more efficiently?
Ti: Name one common misconception people (or one person) have about socionics and explain why it is wrong.
Fi: Tell me about your relationship with ___.
Fe: How is ___ feeling right now? How can you tell?
Si: How are you enjoying this food? How could it be improved? [needs work]
Se: What are people trying to get out of this meeting? What is its impact?
Ni: Does this setting remind you of something from your past? Explain.
Ne: Name something that you could never imagine ____ doing.

Fe=/=excitement, IMO. Different types will have different ideas about what they find "exciting," and Fe types are not the only ones capable of getting excited or creating excitement. Excitement may be an emotion of sorts, but excitement is not the same as emotion.

Awesome. I filled in the particulars with hypothetical scenarios and asked myself those questions, and found I could easily answer the ones related to my strong functions, but found the ones related to my weak functions very difficult. I was completely stumped by the Se one -- I wouldn't even know how to begin answering that.

For the Si one: how about "How does this food taste? How could it be improved?"

Actually, I'd say excitement is directly correlated with Fe. There are types of emotion (happiness, sadness, anger), and then there is intensity of emotion (passionate, apathetic). I would classify "excitement" as "positive intensity of emotion", which is clearly related to Fe (internal dynamics of objects). IEE, with Demonstrative Fe, would obviously be very capable of generating and maintaining excitement.

Si: ask someone for ways to deal with bodily things, like headaches or muscle soreness. Complaining about things hurting is an excellent way to lure every SEI within earshot into dispensing all the tricks they've collected over the years for dealing with whatever ails you. ISF types also tend to get really enthusiastic (sometimes seemingly out of nowhere at all if they've been calm or quiet beforehand) when they talk about things like food, drink or fabrics/clothing/fashion.

I know it sounds like a really lame series of stereotypes, but it works. Even the intelligent ones.

i think that this is something a Fi leading would mostly tend to think about instead of actually asking an other person.however, maybe he/she would do it to kind of "classify" the interlocutοr.

    .
again,i personally tend to try to figure out the relationship between two persons by observing instead of actually asking.but even if i ask,i'll try to make the questions as indirect as possible and i most likely won't ask the objects of observation. Besides, people can lie for their own reasons or they might not even be aware of their own feelings. It's like a connect-the-dots game.

Perfect. I told an SLI I had a headache once. He gave me a to do list (sort of) of things that he tries when he has one. Anyway, this is much better than food in my opinion.

    Pretty good, mirror.
    Here's my question list.

: How should we get this done?
    : Why does this work?
: How many ways are there to make a snowball?
: When's the latest I can start and still be done on time?
: How would you take over the world?
    : Are you comfortable?

is this ethical - also good.

    Step your game up.

Se - I am hypersensitive to latent and/or active volitional capacity, possessions, spheres of power and movement; I am aware of which situations, people, systems, appearances or things hold the most power. With confidence I test my limits and other situations', people's, systems', or things' limits by exerting my will on them.

Si - I am hypersensitive to the environment; I am aware of how situations, people, activities, certain actions etc will affect other people, things, or situations, positively or negatively. I mix up / affect the environment to experiment with reactions.

Ne - I am hypersensitive to latent virtual capacity; I am aware of the many alternate directions people, situations, or things can be arranged or can turn out due to their current state and properties. I attempt to pursue these alternate directions to experiment with achievable possibilities.

Ni - I am hypersensitive to meaning; I am aware of what many words, symbols, situations, appearances or other things indicate by how they are related with other things in both spatial and temporal context. I contemplate and follow these indications to increase my understanding of what things mean.

Te - I am hypersensitive to operations; I am aware of how people, situations, systems, or other things operate and am aware how much work is involved or what goes on in their processes. I work with many systems to develop applicable techniques and to increase my capacity to make things work.

Ti - I am hypersensitive to networks; I am aware of how people, situations, systems or other things are connected and am aware of their stages and paths from point to point. I study and/or involve myself in many networks to increase my understanding of existing connections and continuity in the world.

Fe - I am hypersensitive to cues in situations, systems, people and other things; I am aware of expectations and apprehension. I act on and/or follow these cues to increase my understanding of how things will turn out and what's expected.

Fi - I am hypersensitive to cause-effect relationships and the positives and negatives actions, situations, people etc can have on another person, situation etc; I am aware of what's desirable and what isn't desirable. I involve myself and/follow relationships to increase my understanding of consequences.

To the best of my recollection, Rick = IEE = Ni-devaluer, but not Ni-polr.

I agree that the Ni question is poor (I don't love the Se one either).

EyeSeeCold's are pretty good. Fi and Fe aren't great, but Ni is wonderful, and I think Si is pretty good too, especially since environment can be taken in a broad sense beyond just the physical. Se is very good as well, imo.

    Here's my attempt:

Se-What can it do? What can I do to find out what it can do? How can I use those properties of the object to achieve a given goal?

Ni-What will it do? What are the threads leading it to its past and future state? What are the interactions with other forces that have caused and will cause that motion? (not quite sure how to connect this with meaning though)

Fe-What is it implying? What are the unstated directions of motion in this area? Direction of motion can imply desire---what is wanted or expected here? What can I do to act upon those unstated directions?

Ti-What must it do? What are the relations of necessity that govern the behavior of an object? What can the object be defined to be in terms of what it must be in order to be that object (necessary and sufficient conditions)? Asking the preceding question as a means to understanding the properties of the object (either in Se or Ne form).

Ne-What could it do? What are all the capabilities of this object? What are the unexpected properties of the object? What are the things that you wouldn't normally see in it? Not what can it do in the world literally, but what could it do, were it freed from all things except itself? In the pure ideal, abstracted from its actual situation, what would it be capable of?

    Si-No idea.

Te-What can it do better? Are actions being done in the most logical way possible? What changes would streamline the process? What alterations would make this a more efficient system?

Fi-What should it do? What is implied by the relationship of this object to other objects, not in terms of necessity (what must x be if y is a), but in terms of the indefinable standard. Is this action okay or not in terms of relationship between the actor and the acted-upon?

These are of course flawed, and I realize that they depart from the original intention of this thread, which is to provide more practical pragmatic questions (i.e., questions answered by a particular method of information metabolism, as opposed to questions pertaining to a particular aspect or coloring of reality). For pragmatic questions, I'd go this route (giving really specific situations for each one that hopefully you can abstract out from):

Se: What can this car do that this car can't do? What features are present in car 1 vs. car 2? What can I do with the added features?

Ni: What impact did the Nullification Crisis have on the road to the Civil War/given the result of the Civil War, what sorts of actions and events would we expect to see leading up to to the Civil War (more NiTe), or What sort of relationship will a melancholy person like Josh have with a really bubbly girl like Laura/given your knowledge of how Josh and Laura's relationship went, what kinds of interactions would you expect to have seen in the early stages of their relationship (and what sort of personality relationship did they have to begin with?) (more NiFe)

Fe: What should I do to make an older person feel welcome in a meeting filled with younger people? How can I get him to share his ideas without being afraid we'll judge him? alternatively, How can I get this old geezer to shut up and stop trying to educate us youngins.

Ti: What do I have to do in order to gain access to the financial records? What are the steps, and why do they have to happen in this specific order? Would it be possible to do steps one and four simultaneously? Why or why not?

Ne: What's something unexpected I can do with my interior decoration? What's a side of sofas most people don't see? I've been using the duvet for these purposes, but I bet there's something else I could use it for. What are some options?

Si: Ummm... I still don't really know. How can I make this situation more comfortable? Some examples of Si applied to the non-physical realm: I feel awkward around Joey, how can I make that awkwardness go away in our interactions (SiFe)? or, The way I'm doing this project is taking too long and stressing me out. How can I make this process work better, so this doesn't drive me crazy (SiTe)?

Te: What errors am I making in my cake baking? Am I whipping the cream correctly? Do I need to leave it in the oven longer? Should I use a more effective timing device so that I can multitask and handle more tasks? How much faster would this go if I had an assistant?

Fi: My office is laying off twelve workers. What factors should I take into consideration when weighing in on who to lay off? Is it appropriate for me to give my opinions? Am I being disloyal to my fellow employees? In which situations should I discuss this? With whom? Where should my loyalties lie?
Not a rule, just a trend.

IEI. Probably Fe subtype. Pretty sure I'm E4, sexual instinctual type, fairly confident that I'm a 3 wing now, so: IEI-Fe E4w3 sx/so. Considering 3w4 now, but pretty sure that 4 fits the best.

    Yes 'a ma'am that's pretty music...

I am grateful for the mystery of the soul, because without it, there could be no contemplation, except of the mysteries of divinity, which are far more dangerous to get wrong.
