I haven't heard of most of the ones mentioned so far.

It's really hard for me to choose favorites. There's a lot I like and at different times and with different moods I like some better than others. Also, I tend to like artists and their works as a whole rather than just albums.

I totally relate with that statement. Especially the bolded part.

I have a hard time picking favorites too, for exactly the same reasons, which is why I listed so many different albums.

For me, it's specific songs that really impact me that I really remember more than the albums themselves.

wow, 1,000 points to tereg for saying "toad the wet sprocket"

Reminds me of one of my favorite songs as a kid, I still remember hearing it on FM radio......

    [video width=300 height=80:fdafaa6789]http://media.imeem.com/m/3Fxy0LQWzc/aus=false/[/video:fdafaa6789]

    Nothings so loud
    As hearing when we lie
    The truth is not kind
And you've said neither am i
But the air outside so soft is saying everything
    Everything

All I want is to feel this way
To be this close, to feel the same
All I want is to feel this way
The evening speaks, I feel it say...

    Nothings so cold
As closing the heart when all we need
    Is to free the soul
But we wouldnt be that brave I know
And the air outside so soft, confessing everything
    Everything

All I want is to feel this way
To be this close, to feel the same
All I want is to feel this way
The evening speaks, I feel it say...

    And it wont matter now
    Whatever happens to me
Though the air speaks of all well never be
    It wont trouble me

    *guitar*

All I want is to feel this way
To be this close, to feel the same
All I want is to feel this way
The evening speaks, I feel it say...
    And it feels so close
    Let it take me in
    Let it hold me so
    I can feel it say...

It actually "sounds" a lot different than I remember.... even though it is the same song. You know what I mean?
It sounds less impressive than it used to be to me, but it is still interesting.

I may not be able to contribute any favorite albums, hmm.

edited: I don't even listen to that album anymore
edit 2: well I guess it won't harm anything

As I said, it was the first album I ever purchased, I remember picking it up in a small used CD store.

Lots of good stuff so far

Aha: here is an album I can truly say is a favorite...

Classical Japanese Piano - very calming, very winter, very good.

    And, maybe this, too...

Sunny Day Real Estate, "How It Feels To be Something On"
    Where early-90's emo meets indie-rock.

Have Heart, "The Things We Carry"
    Positive Boston straight edge hardcore.

Carry On, "A Life Less Plagued"
    More straight edge, less positive.

Planes Mistaken For Stars, "Fuck With Fire"
    Post-hardcore/emo.

Katatonia, "Last Fair Deal Gone Down"
    Doomish metal. Very depressing.

    Opeth, "Blackwater Park"
    Best death metal record... ever.

    Dark Tranquillity, "Damage Done"
    Tied with 'Blackwater Park'.

    The Appleseed Cast, "Mare Vitalis"
    Stunning post-hardcore/space-rock.

    Converge, "Jane Doe"
    Grindy hardcore - audio chaos.

    Metallica's Black Album

because it's songs fit in perfectly with a werewolf story I work off and on . . . on .

Melissa Etheridge's "Yes I Am" and "Skin"

Coyote Oldman "Tear of the Moon"

http://www.zangomusic.com/coolofmo.html (for 4 sample links of it's sounds)
described as: 'Combines the purity of sound of the cedar flute and Incan pan pipes using a special recording process the two instruments drift in and out and over each other creating an intricate web of melodies.'

(Just because these are my favorite albums does not mean that I recommend them to others. Also, there are a lot of singles I like by other artists. And I've already mentioned that I'm pretty stuck when it comes to music, I don't explore music that much.)

Ooh, another OLP fan. I agree that that album's by far their best (and one of my favorites!). But a big knock against it is that it's a copy of OK Computer. Which I think it is. Still good though!

The first concert I ever went to was an OLP concert, fun times.

Radiohead is very different from OLP. Just the tone and ideas of Spiritual Machine was already done in O.K. Computer. But like I said, Spiritual Machines is still by far one of my favorite albums. I really got into reading about Ray Kurzweil's book, Age of Spiritual Machines after I heard that album. Good book too.

They don't sound the same, not at all.

My favourite album is 'Colour The Small One' by Sia. It was released in 2004 and is quite different from what Sia is singing now. This album is special to me because I like every single one of the songs, which usually doesn't happen. They're soft and yummy, and I listen to it, whenever I need to calm down and relax.

Ive so much song in the head I can't even remember one I prefer lol.

I could have said radiohead Kid A or amnesiac some time ago but I begin to be a bit annoyed by their song. They sound pretentious lol.
At these moment I often listen to pink floyd - ummagumma, I think it's the best album from the band.
I got the first Sigur Ros ("Von"), good stuff.
Bookend from Simon & garfunkel is very good too, got it some time ago.
Not an album but the requiem of Faure is simply awesome.
Could have name dropped some obscure stuff but don't want and don't have the memory for.

I played many track from ummagumma & 1 track from Von in one my last mix. One track from "More" (still pink floyd) and the epic drum solo of sweet smoke - just a poke album too (made in 70's but sound like trance). Rest is electronic (not that much this time, I tried too keep an acoustic line on the mix), bird/whales songs and strange stuff lol.

The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. yes it's very mild and though melancholic it slows my day down and makes me feel like country met eclectic

Wow babe you're an extrovert. I just listen to a hand full of music somewhat repeatedly.
I'm also drawn to melancholic albums, and I have to be careful about how much I listen to them. For example: Alison Krauss is my favorite artist, but the subjects of her songs are heavy, even if the music itself is upbeat. I've been trying to limit my exposure. I guess music just has that power.
And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, won't he more surely care for you?- Matthew 6:30

I like the reflection upon feelings, relationships because then I think about people who love because I think it's a good thing to express experience of those things

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

Agreed. All of Alison Krauss's songs are about love, relationships, and associated reflections. But again, too much of that and I can absorb it into my psyche and spiral downwards.

Sometimes a girl just needs something upbeat and fun
