Sarcasm

What types are most likely to be sarcastic, what types can handle sarcasm from others and what types cannot. Do you find sarcasm funny? Discuss.

I've been told I can be pretty sarcastic, but I agree with the post above that all types can be sarcastic. Sarcasm is funny, but not as funny as joking about life's little absurdities...

So sarcasm itself may not be type related but the way it manifests itself can be different in different types? that makes sense.

My EII mother really hates sarcasm. She takes it personally, even when it's not directed at her. I think she feels like it's an attack (on whoever or whatever you're talking about). She almost never laughs at it.

Now that I think of it, I know two other EIIs who also do NOT appreciate sarcasm. I wonder if they think it's bad manners. Or mean or something. I'm guessing that my EII mom also thinks it's disrespectful (which I guess it can be).

I have nothing useful to say so I'll just talk about myself. I'm very sarcastic... but I try to keep a lid on it... and sometimes (well, maybe often times) people don't know I'm being sarcastic. I've been described as "having a sharp tongue." I generally love sarcasm.

But there is the cold, biting, ultra-cynical type of sarcasm that disguises, however badly, the bitter, hateful feelings of one against everything else. This more cutting, cynical form of sarcasm, when it arises out of sheer hatred, malevolence, or bitterness is chilling rather than amusing.

um, usually Fi valuing types do not appreciate my sarcasm, because of its reliance on Fe. They never get my sarcasm until it is entirely clear.

Sarcasm is funny when used effectively. But it's rarely laugh out loud funny. I don't think it's down to type, but to intelligence.

I was discussing sarcasm recently with an ESFp female friend of mine, and she told me she uses sarcasm to take the piss out of stupid people at her work and they don't even realise they're getting the piss taken out of them because they don't realise it's sarcasm.

really? why do you think so? Because sarcasm makes people uncomfortable? The SEIs I know take sarcasm quite well. And they can dish it out too albeit in small doses and only when they know someone well.

ISTp's i've known can be sarcastic. Thing i've noticed in general in people though, is that those who divvy out the sarcasm, tend not to be so keen on being on the receiving end of it themselves. I wonder if that is type related?
