Is socioncs too simple and lacking of finite understanding of people to be used in any practical way?

no, it sure isn't simple if i read some posts in this forum.
it is however very useful in explaining human behaviour and relationships.
How you would like to use this practically is up to you.
Understand what Model-A as practiced by professional socionists does model and does not.
The simplicity is the beauty: it's all right in front of your face if you're willing and able to see it. Nothing in Socionics is mystical or hard to understand if you learn to observe how it manifests in real life.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...
Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
Whilst our laughter echoed,
Under cerulean skies...
I agree. The question is, will you allow yourself to defy the "object" you are trained by social neccessity to see, in favor of seeing the world that exists beneath.Originally Posted by GillySaysGoodbye

No, it's too complex and in it's complexity loses it's understanding of people that could have otherwise been used in a practical way.Originally Posted by electric

It's not that... it's just too easy to over analyze, especially when you're still learning.Originally Posted by GillySaysGoodbye

Yeah, well, once you actually understand what the functions are and how they manifest and work together, it's really not that complex at all. It's all right in front of your face. It just takes a while to get past all of the people who try to over-complicate it.

I sort of agree. I'm not sure it's worth it, but if you stick it out long enough to understand the complexities of socionics without over analyzing you're in good shape. I still think that all that's needed to have a working understanding of socionics is to understand the information elements and duality/model A.Originally Posted by GillySaysGoodbye

Model-A is more than duality.Originally Posted by Joy

Duality defines types though, imo, and duality is about model A.
Socionics isn't very complex but what about the people and relationships socionics tries to describe, are they anymore complex?Originally Posted by GillySaysGoodbye
Is using socionics holding you back from truly 'getting' another person?
getting to know people is an experiential process, not a theoretical one. while socionics can help you avoid screwing things up by giving you understanding of another person's motivations and preferences, in order to get to know people you really have to put the damn book down and get to know the person. types are general groupings, but a person is not just his type. people are infinitely varied and to get beyond a superficial knowledge of them, you can't use socionics to dictate the relationship, only inform it. you master the tool, the tool should not be your master.
