    Let's try again:

How do you feel about hair?

Also, do you see any patterns of preference among the types? It seems unlikely there would be clear cut preferences, but if you notice any tendencies list them here.

My thoughts on facial hair --

I grew a beard twice in my life. Once, I was sort of backpacking during a month and it was easier to go for the bearded look rather than shave irregularly.

The second time was because my "Genevieve" ENFj girlfriend "forced" me to do it -- I suppose it made me look more "Se".

My thoughts on hair generally --

I have a soft spot for redheads.

True. If I don't trim my pubic hair, it gets about one foot long.

    on hair:

the musical: loved it, still love it.

hair on the head: like it long and silky right now. it was very hard to let go of big hair when it went out of fashion in the 90's. on men: the look is short right now; i miss long hair on men. 'cept for mullets.

hair on the legs: don't mind shaving the legs and if they are kept tan in the summer then you can wear skirts and dresses without panty hose and look great. i don't think an unshaven leg is a good look for women. love silky light colored hair on men's legs mmmmmm

hair on the bikini line: this is a problem. one which if solved will make the inventor wealthy beyond their wildest dreams. you have to take it off or it's extremely frightening. but when you do you get razor burn or ingrown hairs which look almost as frightening. so you exfoliate and limit your shaving, but then you have those days of regrowth and that looks frightening too. during the regrowth stage it scrapes your partner during sex. you could wax but the waxing process is too frightening. so, overall, frightening.

underarm hair: kinda nice on men as long as they shower often enough; kinda weird a la patti smith on women. so shave it. regularly.

hair that grows on older women's chins: weird and yet it's gonna happen to all of us. to tweeze or to do electrolysis? it's all a crapshoot.....those stubborn hairs.....sprays and powders aren't good enough, electrolysis does a better job.....

hair growing out of moles: ewwwww. need i say more?

hair on men's faces: love the beard esp if it's light and soft. the don johnson look is cool. 1-2 days of regrowth is painful, esp, er, down there. ha i'll take what i can get though. cleanshaven is nice. roman. nice!

toe hair: take this off ladies.

hair growing out of nipples/aereolas: same

With hair on girls I prefer darker colors, like chocolate brown or black, but I am not picky. In regard to hairstyle, whatever fits the individual best is what I like.

I don't like lots of hair on myself. I keep most of it trimmed or shaved (I shave my armpits, for instance). I even remove foot hair because I think it's gross.

I keep my hair very short these days, it's nice not even having to comb it or brush it anymore, just hop outta the shower and dry it off, it's nicely efficient. As far as facial hair I don't like it at all but I can go a few days without shaving. I've never tried to grow a beard or mustache because I don't like what it looks like if it's only halfway there so I never feel like waiting til it's full grown. Being a guy I'm ok having hair on my arms, legs, underarms, and chest and I do keep myself trimmed up on all body parts where needed...lol
As far as what I like with regards to women, diamond8 pointed out a good amount of it. I have always been a total sucker for redheads but that's never really a factor when it comes to the women I go for.

I once grew out a beard for a month-- it just didn't work out between the two of us, I had to shave it off. My facial hair just grows out too inconsistently to grow out anything without precise trimming. Personally, I prefer my clean shaven look; I feel like I look like I'm trying to hide portions of my face under a patch of hair. As for leg hair, I guess I have alot, but it doesn't bother me.

    On men:

-Head hair: whichever way that suites the facial features. But clean please.
-Facial hair: I kinda like the scruffy look of a couple of days unshaven.
    -Nose/ear/mole hair: trim if necessary.
    -Leg/arm hair: however is fine.
-Chest/back hair: not a fan of lots of chest hair, but a bit is ok. Back hair, shave if needed.
-Armpit/pubic hair: armpit; shaven or trimmed is good. Pubic; not like some of these porn actors that shave it all off down there, it’s ok to trim, but totally shaven is just weird.

    On women:

-Head hair: whichever way that suites the facial features. But clean please.
-Facial hair: shaven. Sorry, bearded ladies are not hot.
    -Nose/ear/mole hair: trim if necessary.
-Leg/arm hair: leg; shaven, or if hair is very fine and light colored it’s ok if not shaven. Arm; shave if necessary.
-Chest/back hair: shave off the nipple/aereolas hairs, and whatever other hair that’s out of place. Shave back hair if necessary.
-Armpit/pubic hair: armpit; shaven, women with unshaven armpits are a big turn-off. Pubic; however is fine, if not shaven it’s good to trim, just don’t let some stray hairs show through your underpants or bathing suit, cuz ick.

    On me:

-Head hair: kinda shoulder length and always tied in the back. But someday I wanna shave it all off.
    -Facial hair: don’t have any.
-Nose/ear/mole hair: unnoticeable or don’t have any.
-Leg/arm hair: leg; shaven. Arm; don’t need to shave.
    -Chest/back hair: don’t have any.
-Armpit/pubic hair: armpit; shaven. Pubic; trimmed.

I keep my haircut short as of late. Much better feel. I don't have any hair on my chest or my back. My facial hair grows slowly aswell. I shave my legs when I have to compete in cycling. I trim my pubic hair depending on wether I'm going out with a girl, or not.

Did someone here say men should shave their armpits? That's just weird. Men should have hair. I was watching a kids show with my daughter with these kids (well kids to me) who sing and dance, and the two guys were wearing sleeveless tops and their armpits were shaven. That is just plain wrong. They did not look particularly masculine with the shaved pits, though these particular guys wouldn't have looked particularly masculine regardless I suppose.

I prefer men to be clean shaven, although I did once know a guy who definitely looked better with a mustache. I think that's rare. A bit of scruff is fine but a beard or mustache isn't generally attractive.

I'm blonde enough that I don't have any hair in weird places and it's thin and light enough in normal places that it's pretty easy to keep taken care of. I'm glad I have only light thin blonde hair on my arms because I be annoyed as hell if I had to shave my arms. I have a mole under one arm and it's a pain in the ass to shave there but of course I do - very carefully though. I accidentally shaved it off once and it grew back.

This is potentially the strangest thread in history here.

My husband has hair that pokes out of his nose and ears and it's gross so I got him a little clipper for that. There are little tiny razors made specifically for that!

Oh - I think men should have hair on their chests (as I said in the Orlando Bloom thread), but not tons so if they had tons I'd suggest waxing. Some hair is better than none, but waxed is better than fur. Back hair should be waxed if it's there. Though some guys have a little bit in the small of their back and that's fine.

One more funny thing about hair. I went to a class reunion - either 10 or 15 year, I don't remember - and one of my former classmates had tons of hair in her cleavage. If I had hair on my chest, I would absolutely shave it. My god I'd get electrolisis or plastic surgery or something. I would absolutely NOT keep the hair and wear something that showed cleavage. How do people not think of this?

We have friends where the guy has a hairy back and the woman has a mustache. LOL I feel very catty even typing it out. They tried to get me into a threesome with them once. I've tried to block that out of my memory.
It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.

As for my hair, I generally get it cut short down to about 2 inches once in a while, but I like to wear it shaggy too, so I generally let it go a while. I like to wear a little scruff when it gets longer, but I shave or trim before it gets any kind of recognizable volume. Pubes, I try to keep trimmed fairly short, although a full-crotchal-area shave has recently been suggested to me by a couple of people: apparently it's the only way to get your balls sucked

Girls shouldn't shave their arms (underarms, yes; the rest, no). Seems really self-conscious to me. If a girl has dark hair, then dark hair on her arms usually doesn't even look bad.

My original post was grand enough to draw numerous rolling eyes.

That is just plain wrong. They did not look particularly masculine with the shaved pits, though these particular guys wouldn't have looked particularly masculine regardless I suppose.
I was about to say the same thing about men shaving armpits. If i ever shaved my pits I would seriously not feel as much of a man as I did before doing it...lol

Cleavage hair, now that's just plain fucking nasty...lol

We have friends where the guy has a hairy back and the woman has a mustache. LOL I feel very catty even typing it out. They tried to get me into a threesome with them once. I've tried to block that out of my memory.
    hahaha:

Having long hair is a family custom (not religous, just cultural) so most of the women that are blood related to me keep thier hair long. In fact I got into huge trouble when I cut all of my hair off once.
I think whatever hairstyle suits the person is best, as long as it's sometimes washed and semi cared for. I don't like short, short hair on most men.

I'm an adult now so it's acknowledged that the choice is mine; funnily enough I still keep it long. It grows too fast (about 1/2 and inch a month while not pregnant) to bother with going to get it trimmed.

From what I understand, less hair means less germs, so there's that. But I just generally like the clean, smooth feeling, or at least soft hair - not rough or prickly - on myself. I don't shave my head, though, only regular maintenance trims to keep split ends at bay. Right now it's waist-length, and I like it that way. In fact, I'm thinking of trying to see how long it can get, just out of curiosity. It tends to behave itself better when it's long, too. Anyway, I groom myself with the primary objective of being comfortable in my own skin, and the secondary objective of generally conforming to whatever the local cultural norm is (I'm not one for bold statements). If and when I ever get married, I'd want to please my partner, too.

As far as other people are concerned, I don't have any strong preferences other than cleanliness. In fact, I usually don't even initially notice the styles other people have, at least in terms of it being "stylish" or it "working with their look" or similar. I mean, I admire people who are skilled in fashion type things, because despite the fact that I don't do well at that myself, I like the results of others' efforts. Also, there are certain styles that I find attractive and a few select ones that I don't particularly relish, but it's not too hard for me to get past even the most outlandish or outrageous styles, especially after I start relating to/with the person. After all, people are people no matter what they look like (at least... I hope so )

A related anecdote: A friend of mine (male) had no facial hair for the longest time. Despite his best efforts and much to his sorrow, he couldn't muster so much as a 5 o'clock wisp. However, after his 23rd (I think it was) birthday, the follicles on his face suddenly began producing and at full capacity. He now has a nice manly goatee and his self-esteem seems much improved.
Oh, to find you in dreams - mixing prior, analog, and never-beens... facts slip and turn and change with little lucidity. except the strong, permeating reality of emotion.

I am tempted to do that, but everyone refuses me to let all of my hair go. Only because I like it somewhat as well will I keep it around.

My hair is currently the shortest it has ever been, and the curliest. Up until I was 15 I had really long hair because my mother insisted it made me look more feminine... then I rebelled and cut it to my shoulders (it's a just a bit shorter than that now). My mother says short hair makes me look like a lesbian. yeah...

so, I think facial hair on guys is attractive, as long as it isn't excessive... though, it does kind of depend on the guy. I don't find guys with shaved heads or really short hair attractive. ever. I don't really care what guys do with their pubic hair, as long as it isn't too long. I think it's weird if guys shave their legs without reason... I can understand if they swim or cycle.

I think it's disgusting when girls shave off their eyebrows, or pluck/wax them too thin. I went through a two year phase of not touching mine... though, my eyebrows aren't really thick anyway, so I can get away with it. Unnatural hair colors really bother me. I think it's gross when girls don't shave their armpits or legs. I think pubic hair on females is ugly, so I think it's better just not to have any.

    okay, I think that's it.
