I think this song (and video) might very possibly be Beta?

    Girl Anachronism - Dresden Dolls

    You can tell
From the scars on my arms
    And cracks in my hips
And the dents in my car
And the blisters on my lips
That I'm not the carefullest of girls

    You can tell
From the glass on the floor
And the strings that are breaking
And I keep on breaking more
And it looks like I am shaking
    But it's just the temperature
    And then again
If it were any colder I could disengage
If I were any older I could act my age
But I don't think that you'd believe me
    It's
    Not
    The
    Way
    I'm
    Meant
    To
    Be
It's just the way the operation made me

    And you can tell
From the state of my room
That they let me out too soon
And the pills that I ate
Came a couple years too late
And I've got some issues to work through
    There I go again
    Pretending to be you
    Make-believing
That I have a soul beneath the surface
    Trying to convince you
    It was accidentally on purpose

    I am not so serious
    This passion is a plagiarism
    I might join your century
But only on a rare occasion
    I was taken out
Before the labor pains set in and now
    Behold the world's worst accident
    I am the girl anachronism

    And you can tell
By the red in my eyes
And the bruises on my thighs
And the knots in my hair
And the bathtub full of flies
That I'm not right now at all
    There I go again
    Pretending that I'll fall
    Don't call the doctors
Cause they've seen it all before
    They'll say just
    Let
    Her
    Crash
    And
    Burn
    She'll learn
    The attention just encourages her

    And you can tell
    From the full-body cast
That I'm sorry that I asked
Though you did everything you could
    (like any decent person would)
But i might be catching so don't touch
You'll start believing you're immune to gravity and stuff
    Don't get me wet
Because the bandages will all come off

    And you can tell
From the smoke at the stake
That the current state is critical
Well it is the little things, for instance:
In the time it takes to break it she can make up ten excuses:
Please excuse her for the day, its just the way the medication makes her...

I don't necessarily believe there is a cure for this
So I might join your century but only as a doubtful guest
I was too precarious removed as a Caesarian
    Behold the world's worst accident
    I AM THE GIRL ANACHRONISM

Umm I think I can offer an expanation.... music is to an extent type-related. In regards to quadras I think it should be seen not as in terms of specific lyrics or styles but "moods" so to speak. Beta music would therefore be more 'dramatic', even intense. It's a generalization but using this you can see how gangsta rap fits in with music that seems completely different. Also ESTps have gained a steretype as listening to "gansgta rap" but its a gross generalization. Just because that might the music that an ESTp you know talks about with his friends it doesn't mean it's all he listens to. Also it's completely ignoring what ESTp females would listen to. My ex estp roomate listened to gangsta rap sometimes but would also download and listen to music like depeche mode and new order. Of course all of this is speculative from my experience but I hope it helped.

Well music is a form of expression, and if most types are set to express their quadra values and ideals in any sort of communicative mediums possible, then it's no surprise that the quadra values and ideals would come across in form of music.

And who says the roughest, raunchiest ESTp doesn't listen to Tori Amos? Ok, so maybe then don't, I don't know. But her music reeks of Ni and Fe, so I guess the ESTp would find them invaluable.

My music tastes haven't changed too much since then, although I'm more into underground house and electro now. I also like dub and drum and bass more.

I disagree. I created a thread about rappers, and there were a lot of differing ideas on their types, and on the style of music they create. Plus, you have to take into consideration the differences in subgenres. Gangster rap has a more materialistic edge to it in comparison with rap that is more concerned with the hardships of inner city life and the like. And RnB is wildly different.

I think I know what you mean by Gamma (the capitalistic nature of the rappers, yeah?), but I think it goes deeper than that. And hasn't Eminem been dubbed an SEI?

It seems that many people here type a lot of rappers as SEI. I think the general consensus for Eminem specifically though was IEI.

    ISFp's... party animals? No.

ESFp-Fi can be mistaken for ISFp. INFp-Fe can be mistaken for ISFp. But, true ISFp's are anything but party animals. Some drink a lot [] but they're often so immobile that I can't tell the difference between their states of sobriety and stupor.

Hey dolphin, you have an extremely emotive, visual writing style which I usually see with EIE. SEI text is often rife with truncated words and some pretty significant disregard for grammatical style (as if english is a second language, even when the native tongue). Even the description stresses that SEI does not cultivate language/communication skills.

Your tone is also much 'brighter' than SiFe... how can I describe it... interactions with an EIE are bright & staccato like a sunshower, while SEI sorta rolls in and envelops the interaction like low lying fog.

I wouldn't discount that at all. ISFp's can be very sparkly & fun in person but *definately* less intense than EIE .

I've just never known an SEI to write like Dolphin does - it was just a weird, random observation.

    Default Old-school for IEIs

Hi, I am new to the board and I'm an IEI/INFP ... here are my suggestions.

-- Frank Sinatra, whose songs are heavy on romance and the idealism of seeking and finding a true love. (There are others like Nat King Cole who also fit, but none are/were Sinatra.)
-- Mister Rogers, whose songs on his TV show were big on building up a child's self-esteem.
-- The romantic melodies of Henry Mancini (try "Dreamsville" from the Peter Gunn soundtrack.)
-- The soundtrack to the classic 1944 movie "Laura," a soaring melody about love, which has been covered well by many jazz artists. (Not the versions sung with the lyrics that were written to fit the melody after the fact.)

lol @ another beta music thread.

beta's are the most common in music, I have found...maybe it's just what I pay attention to, though

Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lil Wayne, 30 seconds to Mars....it goes on lol

"the kill" by 30 seconds to mars is a real INFp 4 song...all about self-destruction on a spirituali/identity level and whatnot...so next time you reach for that razor, my fellow kin, just turn this jam on and realize someone understands you lol

The EMO hair style is so disgusting. I'll never understand what people see in it. Unfortunately, I know a couple IEEs, who for some reason, like to wear this look or think it looks good on them.

Looks like pure garbage to me. Leto looks like a woman.

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers - Refugee

"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat."
    --Theodore Roosevelt

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
    -- Mark Twain

"Man who stand on hill with mouth open will wait long time for roast duck to drop in."
