Default What types shine in S&M?

Meaning of course Sales and Marketing. This is stereotypically the area of extroverted F-types and perhaps ExTps. But can e.g. ISTj or INTj be a star in this area? What factors there are which would place some types in better position in a Sales and Marketing career? Sales and Marketing is actually not the same thing so perhaps they should be thought about separately. Sales is more about on-the-spot personal contact and selling where marketing is more about affecting consumer choice via long term strategic branding and advertising and such things.

Sales have been referred to as the domain of EXXPs.

Marketing I can see ENTp, ENFj and ESFp as well as INFps working well.

Sales -- the types I have seen most often, and being good at it, are ENFj, ENFp, ISFp, ESFp. ESTps -- yes, but the problem is that they don't always notice when the other person thinks they're being a bit too -- persuasive.

    Marketing -- not sure.

I think that to be good in sales it's easy when YOU yourself think that the product is good and good for the person you are selling the product too. Otherwise, hard.

    hehe yeah.

however it always seems like a theoretical fit for INTj so I think I should like it.

XoX people who excel in S&M you would be aggressive and not afraid to take prisoners. They would be up for anything and listen well to the other's body language. You might role play with each person in order to finish the deal. Talking about Sales and Marketing, of course.

I believe that the research stages of marketing may appeal to INTx types, but otherwise it may be somewhat difficult for them.

Very good description! I think I will call you "Ms. Sales and Marketing" from now on. Perhaps you could change your chat name to reflect this?

No I prefer the confusion that comes from Ms. SM.

I can be an awesome salesperson... sometimes. I can't keep my level of energy and enthusiasm and sociability up for long though. It's so draining, so my performance ends up being unstable, and the stress of it really gets to me after a while.

i actually have sort of an altered stance now. the types that i have noticed do well in it the most are esfjs, enfps, esfps, and estps. because of this i correlated it to exxp but it can just as easily be correlated to exfx i guess. i don't think entps are that great at it as they are too brusque because they can't read body language/don't have the attack competitiveness going on as much. i guess the next most likely types to be good at sales would be estjs and enfjs from what i've seen at least.

agree with this. INFp/ENTp/ESFp seem like they'd be the best marketers.
