Default What kind of intertype relation is this?

He's a classmate. I find it easy to trust him and it's really easy to open up to him. We have an easier time chatting through msn and that's where how we became friends? We're not exactly friends now but we're somewhat closer than acquaintances. When we talk on the phone or when we actually meet, there seems to be nothing to talk about. And, I am not very expressive and neither is he, I guess that's why we have a tendency to jsut talk about things and matters around us. We're taking the same course now and we need to come up with arguments. I thought we would work together, but it turned out that neither of us is interested in another's arguments. We work on our own largely.

The way I see it is, if we don't chat online, we won't ever become friends. Like I said, the only time we seem to be able to relax and chat is online. And he can be real blunt but I understand and I dont' find things he says offensive. But I can imagine how those words might come across to others.

So, what do the relation is?

It definitely sounds like two introverts. Probably not intra-quadra.

So comparative, look-alike, super-ego, or quasi-identical. Probably not benefit as it seemed symmetrical.

    I would say comparative.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

    Don't think so.

I thought we would work together, but it turned out that neither of us is interested in another's arguments.
Semi-dual could work, though, especially regarding that quote. It sounds like they don't share a rational function.

Ok, semi dual can be. But the way she talks about it, it sounds an eithe Exxp-Ixxp or Ixxj-Exxj relationship, to the least (actually, more Exxp-Ixxp)

This sounds more like two introverts together -- that is, neither takes the initiative. This is also very much like what Rick described as introvert-introvert interaction - "talk about things and matters around us".

A bit more about that person.

He definitely values Te because he always talks about efficiency and he's very into statistics. To get the picture about something, he asks quantitative questions like what the average is, the threshold requirement (we only talk about academic stuff).

In any case, he's is a T. He is quite opinionated and judgemental, more so than me in fact and I have been told by my friends that I am sometimes too opinionated.

He values Fi. This is hard to explain, but it's like they're not shown directly but through interactions, you know he cares about you (the way friends do). It's very different from people with strong Fe that might just act friendly and you're out of mind when out of sight. And, he doesn't say thank you, sorry, etc, face to face. Like me, these things are sms-ed or said through the internet. I see this as a weak Fe.

I think he is a J. He's very focused, hard-working, strong-willed, determined. Very unlike me, he's organized and just not scatterbrained. Maybe I am just too p to see other ps as js.

    Our relation -
Semi-dual: He does not look ESTp.
Comparative: He doesn't have strong Fe.
Super-ego: He's very T to me, no way he is an ISFp.
Quasi-identical: I could be wrong, but I see more Te than Ti, so this won't work?

Is it possible to type him with the information above? I have a hard time deciding whether he is an S or an N.

Ok, Ok, now the clearer picture - he might be ISTj.

He's my benefactor?? ?That might be true. But I'm still apparently not good in typing. FDG, why do you think he's Ti dominant?

I think ISTj is possible, especially since it does seem to be an introvert-introvert interaction.

That doesn't indicate Te>Ti necessarily IMO.

That would be consistent with ISTj with Fe-dual seeking and Fi role.

ISTjs do have a problem with Fi relationships, in comparison to ISFjs for instance, but they are very dutiful to those they regard as friends. And, of course, not all Fe>Fi types are "out of sight, out of mind".

If he's a logical type and has Te>Ti, he'd have to be ENTj, INTp, ESTj, ISTp. He doesn't seem extroverted, so INTp or ISTp.

You don't seem to understand each other well enough to be identicals, so INTp is unlikely.

I think the best bets are ISTj, ISTp, and then perhaps INTj. We may have to discuss the Te/Ti thing further.

Thank you for the analysis. I'll keep the possible types in mind. Right now, I don't have information so the Ti/Te thing will have to be set aside first. The reason I thought he could be Te is, he's obsessed with efficiency. He uses that word all the time, but that alone is not enough, right?

I can see how he could be my benefactor.

When partners are together, the Beneficiary involuntarily starts to ingratiate themselves with the Benefactor, trying to please them without any obvious reason.
I can relate to that. I have been very very nice to him by my standard.

That's for sure, otherwise ENTp and INTj would be extingished by now...

That sounds like an Identical relationship, more than anything else.

    Possibly Quasi-Identical.
