some time ago, Kelly Ripa got bodyslammed by Rosie O'Donnell for what she might/might not have said to American Idol finalist Clay Aiken. if you don't remember (or simply don't know), Aiken was a guest host on Ripa's morning show replacing Regis Philbin. they were interviewing guest when Aiken put his hand on Ripa's face humourously yet impolitely attempting to stop her from interrupting his line of questioning. she was visibly upset and said that it was "a big no-no... i don't know where your hands have been".

on her show The View, O'Donnell accused Ripa of homophobia. Clay Aiken had been forced out of the closet some time before and O'Donnell is a lesbian and vocal supporter of gay and lesbian rights.

even though Ripa didn't say anything offensive in regards to homosexuals, one could see why O'Donnell took that stance. one can also see why it doesn't make any sense whatsoever. would you say that it's a case of Ti versus Fe?

Meh. From the way you described it, it sounds like they both overreacted. However, I'm more inclined to side with Ripa in this particular case, as I think O'Donnell is just reading too much into it (taking her words literally?). Unless I'm missing something, what happened was more like an invasion of personal space, not to mention cutting her off. And "I don't know where your hands have been" is just a cliche, as far as I know. If a straight guy had done it, she probably would have been equally annoyed, and might have said the same thing.

I doubt it has anything to do with Socionics. Oh, no wait, it has to do with Se! Because Aiken is repressing Ripa's ability to speak, and Ripa retaliates. Yeah. That's the ticket.

okay sorry. i guess i oughta rephrase my original question. what do you think is the function related to putting words in another person's mouth? moreover, what function takes words in their most literal sense (taking into account only what has been said and not the underlying possiblities)? in your opinion, was O'Donnell's comments related more to Intuition or Feeling. or both?

yeah, weak Intuition does make some sense. i think O'Donnell might be a nasty emotionally unhealthy SLE.
