    Default Smilexian socionics: Easy-to-use behaviour tracker - resurrected (with edits)

    Anyway, when this graph finally looks correct it should help you keep track of how the functions themselves and thereby the subtypes are related to Reinin dichotomies and how because of that it's quite impossible to use Reinin dichotomies with just knowledge of the 16 types.

    It should also help you understand how maximizing the use of a certain function balances some and imbalances some qualities.

    I believe your chart would have me as either ISFp or ENTp. And I think we know where that puts me.

    GODDAMMIT I NEED TO STOP QUESTIONING THIS SHIT.

    .................................................. .................

    Since I'm still around I guess I could answer that one.

    Oh ye doubters, hearken unto the following explanation and example!

    If the question is simply whether someone is ISFp or ENTp, we see the following from the chart.

    1 a. The dichotomies of negativity-positivity, taciturn-narrative, democracy-aristocracy and process-result give us no information at all, because they are not very pronounced unless the person's functions are very evenly balanced.

    1 b. If the person is extremely positive and questioning we have to believe he's ENTp.

    1 c. If the person is extremely negative and stubborn we have to believe he's ISFp.

    2. If the person is clearly tactics-oriented and childish (read: changes his mind constantly in a rather innocent-like manner) he is an accepting subtype of ENTp. If this is not a defining quality but exists only in a shallow way, we get no information.

    3. If the person is clearly strategy-oriented and careful (read: has constant goals) he is an accepting subtype of ISFp. If this is not a defining quality but exists only in a shallow way, we get no information.

    4. If the person is clearly manipulating the mood around him (emotion-creating) he's a creating type ISFp. If this is not a defining quality but exists only in a shallow way, we get no information.

    5. If the person is clearly carried away by his emotions and tries to validate them to others (construct-creating) he's a creating type ENTp. If this is not a defining quality but exists only in a shallow way, we get no information.

    6. If two qualities that oppose one another seem to both apply sometimes, the person is on the borderline of those qualities.

    If there were other options than just ISFp and ENTp it would be more difficult. But it's still a rather easy and clear-cut way to look for a person's type.

    Ok. I'll try to give the same info in numerical form. You can all make graphs about it if you want

    The numbers are relative and demonstrative.

    You can't calculate anything with them.

    They're based on the sine curve.

    The "direction" is the first derivative of the function.

    No. There's no particular reason to use exactly the sine curve except that
    it's easy to understand and it has all the relevant characteristics for a curve to demonstrate the dichotomies in quadras.

    The Functional maximums are those states in which the flow of the function becomes almost automatic. It is the same state that is often referred to as a religious experience. It's a transitional state that's often sought after but rarely achieved. This state is theoretically optimal for personal achievements relating to a single function.

    The Functional balance state is the theoretical socionic state of a quadra. At the balance state the effort used by the rationals and the irrationals within the quadra is equal. This state is theoretically optimal for group achievements and communication. This is also a transitional state, often sought for, but rarely achieved.

    The + and - states are descriptive of the variety of actual functional states that are found between the mostly theoretical & transitive balance and functionally maximal states that socionics usually talks about.

    ...

    Descriptions of the states of quadras.

    Te-Fi-Te
    A state in which there is no potential. The maximum of peace and clarity. The halfway point between stress and calm, in which societies are created and contracts and duties agreed on.

    Concrete Te & Fi
    A state of confidence and comfort over having found one’s role and place.

    Delta
    A state of communication in which the statics wish to use Ne- to affect the dynamics who proceed to correct them with Te+. Personal freedom is measured and chartered this way.

    Abstract Ne & Si
    A state in which maximal freedom and personal choice is sought for so that certainty of independence and invulnerability is achieved.

    Ne-Si-Ne
    A state in which nothing is happening. The maximum of personal choice and free will. The halfway point between no potential and huge potential in which huge expectations arise and powerful dreams are created.

    Concrete Ne & Si
    A state of confidence and comfort over being one’s own master and being able to choose one’s own path and actions.

    Alfa
    A state of communication in which the dynamics wish to use Fe- to affect the statics who proceed to correct them with Ne+. Powerful and charismatic groups are formed this way.

    Abstract Fe & Ti
    A state in which maximal potential and extraordinary qualities are sought for so that certainty of eventual fulfilment of one’s plans and dreams is achieved.

    Fe-Ti-Fe
    A state in which everything is possible. The maximum of personal responsibility and fear. The halfway point between calm and stress, in which opposing forces gather, symbols are raised and lines are drawn.

    Concrete Fe & Ti
    A state of confidence and comfort over being able to achieve anything.

    Beta
    A state of communication in which the statics wish to use Se- to affect the dynamics who proceed to correct them with Fe+. Conflicts are settled and power is measured this way.

    Abstract Se & Ni
    A state in which maximal intensity of contact is sought for so that certainty of power might be achieved.

    Se-Ni-Se
    A state in which huge and important things happen. The maximum of interaction, intensity and challenge. The halfway point between huge potential and no potential, in which clarity of how things must fall into their place is achieved and final decisions are made.

    Concrete Se & Ni
    A state of confidence and comfort over the obstacles one has faced and personal capability.

    Gamma
    A state of communication in which the dynamics wish to use Te- to affect the statics who proceed to correct them with Se+. Plans for functional cooperation are laid this way.

    Abstract Te & Fi
    A state in which maximal obligations and bonds are sought for so that certainty of one’s role in life and society is achieved.

    ......

    Please use the above to understand why the second function is NOT weaker than the first function in an objective way and not always in a subjective way either.

    Also... to the environment accepting version of a function feels quite different from a creative version of the same function. This should disprove the current ideas of the functions being "informational elements" in our brain.

    The functions form a social environment. Therefore...

    A dual receives
    Te with Fi,
    Ne with Si
    Fe with Ti and
    Se with Ni.

    All information is interpreted as if it was from your own quadra. If it was not created in your quadra, it's interpreted to be wrong, untrue and potentially malicious.

    With the information above, you should be able to easily track your own behaviour and see how, you too, change your socionic type in certain situations.

    Having previously described the mostly theoretical absolute states that the types might at times experience, here's a description of how the types are likely to act and what motivations they're trying to fulfill when they're doing it. The correlation to subtype descriptions is obvious, yet the descriptions are not of single subtype states but of a spread of states between theoretical absolutes.

    Furthermore it should be obvious that all types seem extrovert if they're trying to use an extrovert function and introvert if not. Whether you call them EJ or IP when it doesn't matter. If they use Si, they act introverted.

    EJ EJ EJ EJ EJ EJ EJ

    Concrete Te
    COMPLIANCE, GRAVE & EMOTION-CREATING is very high and slowly decreasing
    TACITURN, PROCESS, ARISTOCRACY & NEGATIVISM is high and increasing
    CALCULATING, JUDICIOUSNESS, TACTICAL & CAREFUL is moderate and increasing rapidly.

    The EJ’s need of safety is completely satisfied. He is participating in a project that is beneficial to everyone involved. Therefore he can be sure that he won’t be betrayed. He is now testing how much advantage he can gain from the situation without breaking the social accord. He’d like to have more personal choice in how matters unfold.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other EJs: Companionship and friendly competition in fulfilling the needs of the social accord.
    IPs: Bursts of energetic cooperation, occasional challenges to be the driving force behind the situation, healthy opportunism, positive motivational support.
    IJs: Strengthening the social accord, positive emotional support, passive happy acceptance.
    EPs: Protecting the social accord, challenging, denouncing and punishing people who try to derail the communal effort.

    TACITURN, PROCESS, ARISTOCRACY & NEGATIVISM are high and decreasing.
    COMPLIANCE, GRAVE & EMOTION-CREATING are moderate and decreasing rapidly.

    The EJ is looking for maximal personal benefit. He is looking to pull out of an environment that is turning wearisome and feels no longer worth all the effort. He is starting to feel bored and wants to reach a state of personal freedom. He wants to finish the matter at hand and go away. He feels he’s paid his dues and has earned something better. He is most content when just lazing around but he quickly reacts to outside influence with bursts of energy to make perfectly sure that he’s not further disturbed. Constantly exploring to find a more and more complete situation of personal comfort.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other EJs: Stay put and don’t disturb the situation. Cooperate in maintaining calm when needed.
    IPs: Just stay quiet and relax. Positive comments on the perfection and quality of silence are appreciated.
    IJs: Complex performances and experiments of complete freedom and fulfilled happiness. Active testing and enjoying the quiet and personally fulfilling environment. Wonderment of the EJs ability to provide comfort.
    EPs: Creative suggestions of faults in the perfection of comfort and harmony. Pointing out the final things to be corrected.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other EJs: Mutual gloating and pumping up on how perfect and wonderful everything is.
    IPs: Taking down anyone who complains and tries to break the status quo.
    IJs: Warning on emerging discomfort. Encouragement for communal effort for further enhancement of comfort and the status quo.

    DEMOCRACY, POSITIVISM, NARRATIVE & RESULTS are high and decreasing.
    CALCULATING, JUDICIOUSNESS, TACTICAL & CAREFUL are moderate and decreasing rapidly.

    Stubborn in intentions but very adaptive in methods the Fe is actively seeking people who are willing to contribute to the exchange of ideas and sharing of comfort. He draws people together at will and enforces closeness to create a state of maximal group mentality to engage in mutual protection. He is tired of fumbling around and using all kinds of tricks to gain small comforts that never seem to last. He tries to create something greater, a cohesive group that doesn’t require constant fixing to stay together and that shares his motivations.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other EJ:s: Competition over who’s in the limelight. Who gets the most followers wins.
    IPs: Creative spontaneous criticism on any errors made while trying to enhance social cohesiveness. Restraint from hogging the limelight.
    IJs: Helping in seeking a meaning and purpose for the group. Examining the ideological cohesiveness of the group.
    EPs: Providing encouragement, suggesting exciting and important goals to pursue. Suggesting ways to test the cohesiveness of the group.

    TACITURN, PROCESS, ARISTOCRACY & NEGATIVISM are high and increasing.
    CAREFREE, RESOLUTE, VICTIMIZED & STRATEGIC are moderate and increasing rapidly.

    The EJ is certain of the great importance of his social role and of having the group follow his actions. He knows this endows with the ultimate possible responsibility. Every possible thing that matters to the group is something he must worry about personally. He tries to further build up the group’s power and engage the group in meaningful activity that will increase it’s resources. He envisions somewhere far in the future a situation in which the group has grown strong and responsible enough to survive without him and is able to fully dominate everything but this feels still a great distance away.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other EJ:s: Nice of you to try but there’s no way you’d be able to achieve everything I have! What? You have? Ooh, that’s scary, now I must push even harder.
    IPs: Clever challenges at manipulation of the group. Understandable but weak attempts at derailing the group’s power, their actions are seen as a testament to the EJs strength.
    IJs: Insistent pushing of the group to achieve certain goals. Supplying the need and positive motivational enforcement to maintain the cohesion of the group. Willingness to be a part of the group.
    EPs: Demanding for further accomplishments from the group. Lashing the group onward.

    Abstract Ni

    TACITURN, PROCESS, ARISTOCRACY & NEGATIVISM are high and decreasing.
    OBSTINACY, CHEERFUL & CONSTRUCT-CREATING are moderate and decreasing rapidly.

    Feeling the situation coming to a climax, the EJ knows he has lost control and is no longer bound to do anything. He tries to accept and understand all the various stimuli in his environment and become one with the situation. He tries to shed fear and manage his stress in an increasingly difficult situation and to fade away, become one with everything, reach perfect understanding and wisdom. If an insufficient amount of stimuli are present the EJ is quick to bring about a rush of events for him to observe, enjoy and understand.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other EJ:s: Dear beloved fellow seekers, who should understand the grandiosity of the situation, and participate in bringing about a glorious finale.
    IPs: Anticipation, support and appreciation of the events. Being a happy audience and supplying appropriate background noise to the situation.
    IJs: Acting in a predictable way, supplying execution of the experiment.
    EPs: Pulling the trigger to launch the activity. Providing unexpected surprises to take away the feeling of responsibility and add intensity to the experiment.

    Concrete Ni
    CAREFREE, RESOLUTE, VICTIMIZED & STRATEGIC are very high and decreasing slowly.
    DEMOCRACY, POSITIVISM, NARRATIVE & RESULTS are high and increasing.
    COMPLIANCE, GRAVE & EMOTION-CREATING are moderate and increasing rapidly.

    Having reached perfect understanding of complexity, having seen everything there is to see, the EJ is exhilarated. At the moment of greatest chaos the EJ stood by passively being the one who did not participate, only being a witness. He feels he has survived everything there is to survive and has gained great wisdom. He carries this feeling of personal power and confidence and is quite happy to show his accomplishments to others. He envisions how he could potentially solve all the problems around him but hesitates on whether it’s worth the time and effort.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other EJ:s: They should join and enjoy the joke, enforcing the mutual feeling of super-powers.
    IPs: Struggling to show off their huge intellect and kicking around the more stupider being thus showing how the EJs are effortlessly superior and more ethical. Supplying interesting conversation.
    IJs: Continuing to maintain the current action in the current environment, thus keeping up the importance of the EJs ideas.
    EPs: Happiness over reached goals, emotional support, playful cooperation.

    Abstract Te
    COMPLIANCE, GRAVE & EMOTION-CREATING are very high and increasing slowly.
    DEMOCRACY, POSITIVISM, NARRATIVE & RESULTS are high and decreasing.
    CAREFREE, RESOLUTE, VICTIMIZED & STRATEGIC are moderate and decreasing rapidly.

    The EJ is attempting to find a concrete way to use his understanding and resources for collective behaviour. He tries to please everyone he’s in contact with but not necessarily everyone in the world. He does not want to push or manipulate, he feels he’s just a participant in good things happening. He tests suggestions to find what is agreeable to others and cooperates whenever he finds someone who’s willing to do likewise. If people don’t want to cooperate, they shouldn’t complain when they’re not able to enjoy the results.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other EJ:s: Sharing of ideas and responsibility. Active cooperation in finding common interests.
    IPs: Desperate energy and need of cooperation to reach a particular goal. Providing direction.
    IJs: Supplying emotional strength and accepting any cooperation. Willingness to accept the EJs guidance.
    EPs: Active social manipulation to bring about cooperating groups.

    The IJ feels happy and content with the safety provided by the social accord. He’s willing to let himself out from his shell in an effort to maintain the accord. He envisions that the situation would last forever and envisions a period of relaxation and happiness. He looks at every harmonious detail around him and feels he finally has the environment and the power to live a good life. He enjoys the particular relations that bring him happiness and feels powerful enough to ignore the rest.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other IJs: Staying in their place and acting according to etiquette.
    EPs: Contrasting the IJ’s happiness, allowing him to bask in perfection and the luck of being the center of positive protection. Keeping the social accord and keeping his hands off the IJ’s close ones.
    EJs: Doing his duty and protecting the IJ. Wanting and needing the IJ.

    The IJ feels inspired by his personal experience of happiness and searches for outlets for his feeling. He is feeling empowered to engage in some dreaming and speculation and feels a need to do something artful, make a testament to his feelings. Does not push his art forcefully but seeks gently an appropriate form of expression.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other IJs: This is a personal time and they should be somewhere else, doing their own personal thingy.
    EPs: Creative suggestions for better artful expression. Adding to the free and allowing atmosphere.
    EJs: Providing the peace and calm and finally a receptive thankful audience. Maintaining security so that the IJ can perform and let go.

    The IJ is proud of having created a something that symbolises himself. He tries to embellish it and puff up its importance. He is making a statement, clarifying to himself and to others what is important, what he is all about, what is his territory. Simultaneously he finds that making a statement is something that limits him. He sees the potential of threats in his environment and starts to feel depressed about it. He starts to envision great changes in the environment but is sceptical of his power to create the change by himself. Lays groundwork for great ideas to draw people together.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other IJs: Adding power to the dream, joining the chorus. Reliability and competition over who gets to define and interpret what.
    EPs: Amusing chatter, plentiful ideas to be chosen, added or discarded by the IJ in relation to his dream.
    EJs: Mollification of the environment, providing space in which to plot freely. Positive motivational support.
    IPs: Adding a personal touch to the IJs thoughts. Trustworthy (non-manipulative) personal opinions.

    Abstract Ti
    CHEERFUL, OBSTINATE & EMOTION-CREATING are very high and increasing slowly.
    DEMOCRACY, TACITURN, NEGATIVISM & RESULTS are high and decreasing.
    JUDICIOUS, CHILDISH, CALCULATING & STRATEGIC are moderate and decreasing rapidly.

    The IJ tries to achieve critical mass, a group of people who are so enthralled by his ideas that they are willing to give their unequivocal emotional support and let him avoid the constant feeling of being threatened. All activities feel like emotional messages and usually they feel hostile. Group cohesion needs to be enforced as the threat of chaos and annihilation seems constant. Disappointment over others in the group supplies the need to take control.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other IJs: Potential opposition and easily understandable momentary allies. To be handled with care.
    EPs: Minor attempts at wresting control of the situation, crafty schemes that must be watched carefully but simulatenously add to the importance of the group. Providing a straw man when needed.
    EJs: Providing the emotional power to move the masses. Desperate adulation of the IJ.
    IPs: Recognition of the group’s power and joining the mindless masses.

    Concrete Ti
    CHEERFUL, OBSTINATE & EMOTION-CREATING are very high and decreasing slowly.
    POSITIVISM, PROCESS, ARISTOCRACY & NARRATIVE are high and increasing.
    CAREFREE, TACTICAL, RESOLUTE & AGGRESSIVE are moderate and increasing rapidly.

    The confidence of absolute hierarchical power. The IJ can make anything happen with a snap of his fingers but generally resists the urge to do so. Resistance is usually ignored because it’s obviously only for show. On the other hand the IJ just might feel the urge to show off his absolute power and pass a condemning judgement on the transgressor. Nobody can resist. Ideas for new tools and methods to use the power in a concrete way are taking form. Plans and orders are give to others to fulfil. People feel like toys but such ones that the IJ magnanimously doesn’t generally play with them.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other IJs: Envious little critters, the poor things should understand how their part in the power pyramid is firmly below the leader. Maybe one day one of them will prove a capable follower in power, when the IJ lies dead and they pry the sceptre of dominion from his cold dead hands.
    EPs: Acting powerful, potent subcommandants and balancing the power of the IJ so that he remembers to be magnanimous to his subjects. Eagerness to serve and take up new challenges and still completely expendable.
    EJs: Immediate, confident obedience. Willingness and capability to take up any task.
    IPs: Courting of power, weak-willed pandering, providing applause to the IJs dictates.

    Abstract Se
    CAREFREE, TACTICAL, RESOLUTE & AGGRESSIVE are very high and increasing slowly.
    POSITIVISM, PROCESS, ARISTOCRACY & NARRATIVE are high and decreasing.
    CHEERFUL, OBSTINATE & EMOTION-CREATING are moderate and decreasing rapidly.

    The IJ has tools at hand to cause great things to be. The tools and their use must yet be perfected. He is experimenting and seeking their limits, what can he really concretely cause to pass in his environment. He feels that others are no longer capable of understanding the level of his power. Therefore he must show it in a concrete way before the group dissolves completely. Yet the group is simultaneously losing importance, the loyal servants no better than any other random people.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other IJs: Unimportant, can be brushed away. Sometimes provide a challenge for power.
    EPs: Providing cannon fodder.
    EJs: Witnessing and carefully reporting the spectacle. Providing an understanding audience.
    IPs: Sensing the IJs power, they still try to jockey for his favour. Helpful in maintaining appearances.

    Concrete Se
    CAREFREE, TACTICAL, RESOLUTE & AGGRESSIVE are very high and decreasing slowly.
    DEMOCRACY, TACITURN, NEGATIVISM & RESULTS are high and increasing.
    GRAVITY, COMPLIANCE & CONSTRUCT-CREATING are moderate and increasing rapidly.

    Speed blindness. Doing many things to maintain power and momentum. Confidence over own ability but loss of understanding the big picture. Flailing about the IJ is in great need of advice. The IJ is creating such complexity with his own actions that he is slowly binding himself into more duties than he can handle. He is running into an increasing amount of obstacles and tiring himself.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other IJs: Sympathy, sharing the burden.
    EPs: Eager but uncontrolled help, motivational support.
    EJs: Help in seeing the big picture. Guidance. Emotional support.
    IPs: Wise but crafty words, affirming the need to maintain momentum and personal control of the situation.

    Abstract Fi

    DEMOCRACY, TACITURN, NEGATIVISM & RESULTS are high and decreasing.
    CAREFREE, TACTICAL, RESOLUTE & AGGRESSIVE are moderate and decreasing rapidly.

    The IJ has had a revelation of the limits of his personal ability. He seeks safety from the environment, he seeks support that he simultaneously feels he’s unworthy of. He wallows and yearns for someone to come and rescue him yet he makes no effort to cause this to happen preferring to remember again and again the memories of events that caused his sorry state to come about. Fatalism. The IJ is trying to find certain knowledge of his contribution to society and the more certainty he seeks the less he finds.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other IJs: Unbelief over their existence. The IJ is completely alone.
    EPs: Providing emotional contrast with their happiness against the IJs unhappiness. Helping the IJ punish himself.
    EJs: Selflessness, courage to approach the IJ and bring him into the society. Giving of purpose.
    IPs: Energetic action, stubborn attempts to help the society.

    ARISTOCRATIC, NEGATIVE, NARRATIVE & RESULTS are high and increasing.
    JUDICIOUSNESS, CAREFREE, TACTICAL, CHILDISH are moderate and rapidly increasing.

    The EP feels he has reached the limits of what the society has to offer. He is frustrated by the weakness and inability of the people around him. He’d want more. He is certain that he knows best the habits of people and he is responsible for trying to make them better their ways. He mobilizes the environment and encourages them to be better people.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other EPs: Join the choir, add your voice and give help in changing the society.
    EJs: Working, being part of the group and being responsive to the EPs suggestions.
    IPs: Stubbornly working and doing their own thing they simultaneously provide a responsive audience and create surprises that mollify the EPs pathos against the limits of humanity.
    IJs: Sheepish grins. They are content where there is so much that still needs work. They provide the inspiration to the EPs crusade.

    Abstract Ne
    JUDICIOUSNESS, CAREFREE, TACTICAL, CHILDISH are very high and slowly increasing.
    ARISTOCRATIC, NEGATIVE, NARRATIVE & RESULTS are high and decreasing.
    GRAVE, OBSTINATE & EMOTION-CREATING are moderate and rapidly decreasing.

    The EP is looking for ideas, tricks and tools to better transmit his vision of how society should work. He is not forceful for he feels he’s lacking in ability. He gently prods and tests people but he is untiring and happy to continue his work trying again and again until he finds the correct way to create the effect he wants.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other EPs: Fellow artists of the human condition, they can provide useful tips and hints though it’s usually best to try things oneself.
    EJs: Nervous and stressful action. Trying hard to reach with effort the personal freedom that is easier sought with the mind.
    IPs: Relaxed and open-minded partnership in the EPs experiments. Humour.
    IJs: Providing a contrast, motivational support and sometimes practice targets to the EP’s wit.

    Concrete Ne
    JUDICIOUSNESS, CAREFREE, TACTICAL, CHILDISH are very high and slowly decreasing.
    DEMOCRATIC, POSITIVIST, TACITURN & PROCESS are high and increasing.
    CHEERFUL, COMPLIANT & CONSTRUCT-CREATING are moderate and rapidly increasing.

    The EP has perfected his wit and is now able to take on anyone, turn anyone’s head and make anyone believe anything he wants. He is happily engaged in the process of making his dreams come true, willing to bend around obstacles and not stopping to consider what he says or the actual effects of his positive intentions.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other EPs: Excitement to the second power. Experimentation and cooperative competition in speeding up the environment.
    EJs: Pleasant, goodwilling company. Cooperation in maintaining the atmosphere.
    IPs: Self-concious and powerful opinions, willingness to participate in the EP’s charm and creations.
    IJs: Dragging down the atmosphere, creating challenge and providing contrast showing the EP’s charm all the better.

    Abstract Ti
    CHEERFUL, COMPLIANT & CONSTRUCT-CREATING are very high and slowly increasing.
    DEMOCRATIC, POSITIVIST, TACITURN & PROCESS are high and decreasing.
    JUDICIOUSNESS, CAREFREE, TACTICAL, CHILDISH are moderate and rapidly decreasing.

    The EP is seeking to perfect his social status. He is getting tired of the constant action and is happy to more often stand by and let others do the entertaining. He feels he’s pushed enough wheels in motion and now he’s happy to watch the effect his ideas are having in others. He’s interested in finding out how far he can push the group, analyzes its mood and activity. He will time to time give the environment a further prod to check his own suppositions.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other EPs:
    EJs: Adding power to the group. Motivational support.
    IPs: Skillful social manipulation to bring about gatherings of people and feeling for the EP’s enjoyment.
    IJs: Manipulation and meddling with the group, trying to turn the group into a tool of personal power, dangerous greed.

    Concrete Ti
    CHEERFUL, COMPLIANT & CONSTRUCT-CREATING are very high and slowly decreasing.
    ARISTOCRATIC, NEGATIVE, NARRATIVE & RESULTS are high and increasing.
    RESOLUTE, CALCULATING, STRATEGIC & AGGRESSIVE are moderate and rapidly increasing.
    Disappointment with the group and it’s power, the EP is certain he has unique understanding of how the group should work and how it should act. He is happy to push the group towards the goal he feels is necessary by any means possible. He looks for ever greater accomplishments of group cohesion so he could feel again the thrill and emotion of being part of a working whole. He tends to push into reality what others thought was just a joke or a dream yet. He believes he knows the group’s goals better than anyone else and for all purposes he’s become the group’s directive force. He believes it’s only natural that he’s the leader. Opposition to his leadership is mainly just stupidity in action.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other EPs: They too expect to serve the group but there can only really be one leader. Maybe they could lead parts that are small or uninteresting to the EP.
    EJs: Fanatics of the revolution, they get the troops fired up and add to the atmosphere.
    IPs: Requiring and asking for help in surviving the dangerous situations the group engages in. Providing the group with additional cohesiveness and intensity in a skilful way. Ability to help create the situations and motivations of the group that the EP requires to be effective.
    IJs: Cold and selfish they think the revolution serves them while it should be the other way around. They act as willing tools as long as they believe it’s their way to the top, yet they lack the real skill to lead.

    Abstract Se
    RESOLUTE, CALCULATING, STRATEGIC & AGGRESSIVE are very high and slowly increasing.
    ARISTOCRATIC, NEGATIVE, NARRATIVE & RESULTS are high and decreasing.
    CHEERFUL, COMPLIANT & CONSTRUCT-CREATING are moderate and rapidly decreasing.

    Once the activity starts and the united actions of the mob dissolve into simultaneous singular events, the EP is motivated to take charge and act decisively. When enough power is used he feels he can handle any situation and be in control of the situation. If he has the time he is willing to plan and practice maneuvers before action but generally he favors simplicity, effectiveness and certainty over cleverness.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other EPs: Providing challenge, training and companionship when needed.
    EJs: Reason enough to stand aside when big boys play. Avoiding getting in the way and being hurt.
    IPs: Keeping watch and selecting the important targets. Cunning advice and tactical ploys.
    IJs: Weakwilled resistance that bends at the EP’s will and force. Providing cannon fodder.

    DEMOCRATIC, POSITIVIST, TACITURN & PROCESS are high and increasing.
    GRAVE, OBSTINATE & EMOTION-CREATING are moderate and rapidly increasing.

    Having reached contentment over his skills to affect the environment the EP tries to make the most out of them. He feels it’s generally best to do as much as possible with good intentions and hope everything will turn out for the best. He uses the skills he’s comfortable with eagerly whenever he sees opportunity to do so. He loves being active and is sustained by simple hope.

    Expected behaviour:
    Other EPs: Willingness to help in any and all endeavours. Activity.
    EJs: Appreciation of their efforts. Accurate description of their successes and failures.

    Some things that I have not yet pointed out

    some cycles that are always true

    (you can also always add democracy after the first and third arrows and aristocracy after the second and fourth).

    judicious -> cheerful -> resolute -> grave ->

    ...

    tactics -> construct-creating -> strategy -> emotion-creating ->

    ...

    calculating -> obstinacy -> carefree -> compliance ->

    ...

    These cycles are true for each temperament. A change of quadra means a corresponding same-sized change in all of these cycles. They move at the same speed and are tied to each other for a given temperament. For one of these cycles to progress without a corresponding change in the others would imply a change of temperament, which does not seem to happen.

    more:

    taciturn -> extroversion -> narrative -> introversion ->

    ...

    result -> accepting -> process -> creating ->

    ...

    democracy -> judging -> aristocracy -> perception ->

    ...

    There is no similarly simple cycle for negativism vs. positivism. What we would get would be...

    negativism ->
    introvert-accepting-judging or introvert-creating-perception or extrovert-creating-judging or extrovert-accepting-perception ->
    positivism ->
    extrovert-creating-perception or extrovert-accepting-judging or introvert-accepting-perception or introvert-creating-judging->

    with each temperament having their own version of the cycle. Which to be exact, are here represented

    for
    EP
    negativism->extrovert-accepting-perception -> positivism->introvert-creating-judging

    for
    EJ
    negativism-> introvert-creating-perception -> positivism -> extrovert-accepting-judging

    for
    IJ
    negativism -> introvert-accepting-judging -> positivism ->
    extrovert-creating-perception ->

    for
    IP
    negativism -> extrovert-creating-judging -> positivism ->
    introvert-accepting-perception ->

    These cycles are important because they tie the dichotomies to each other and point out rules that any suggested definition of a dichotomy must follow. Indeed it is possible to use these cycles as source material when trying to understand the nature of each dichotomy.

    Furthermore, the negativism-positivism dichotomy cycle hints that it might be interesting to think of the combination of the three functional cathegorizations as a new dichotomy, one class of which changes positivism into negativism and the other vice versa. As one class of this dichotomy tends to turn the understanding of limitations to the understanding of possibilities and the other vice versa, one reasonable suggestion for the name of this dichotomy might be 'empowering' vs. 'limiting'. Suggestions for replacing these names are welcome.

    An interesting detail (to me) is that for the originators of model A and most things socionical (the statics) the accepting functions are thus 'empowering' and creative functions 'limiting'. To the dynamics the creative functions are 'empowering' and the accepting functions 'limiting'. I can not but wonder whether, and how much this is a matter that has affected the model A claiming that the 1st function is always the accepting function equating to the dominating function equating to the strongest function equating to the person's greatest potential... an assertion, that is not difficult to see to be pure crap. This should also be taken under consideration when thinking about role function vs. PoLR.

    (Retraction: Not all people who believe in model A seem to believe that automatically the creative functions are weaker than the accepting ones.)

    Smilingeyes, it was brought to my attention that the IP part I just quoted seems to have been cut off short. I'm guessing by the initial posts length, it was probably over the 10,000 character limit that I think is in place. If you have this somewhere else, can you post it again? Asking for someone else who's not on this forum. Thanks.

    I like the idea of this being easy to use, but I've looked at it a few times and I don't see the easy part.

    I don't understand all of the numbers and charts and arrows...

    I guess everyone else gets this, but if someone could explain it, that'd be cool.

    I agree that the "easy to use" part could use some nuancing...

    Anyway; here's my take on how to use it:
    You need to use this alongside a set of descriptions of each of the type catagories that are used. The most recent ones that smilingeyes supports are those inside the thread Dichotomic Descriptions V.2.0, which can be found inside the articles forum.

    The central idea in smilexian socionics is that a person freely moves between types within a single temperament through the course of a life, a day, or even a period of a few seconds.

    Pick any type that you think is close to the one you are now. Find it in the diagram, then draw a vertical line through the diagram through the the type's caption. All of the type catagories that are on top of the line are maximally represented in your type. The type catagories that are closer to the line than their opposites are weakly represented in your type in the sense that they describe your type, but not as well as the maximally represented ones. Type catagories that are as close to the line as their opposites are neutral in your type meaing neither they nor their opposites describe your type.

    Also: as a person changes type along the temperament, s/he either progresses forward, or recedes backwards. The former correlates with movement to the right in the diagram, the latter with movement to the left. Weakly represented catagories that are to the left of the lines are "falling" in intensity, in the sense that when a person is succesfully progressing towards his/her goal these things gradually become less important. Weakly represented catagories that are to the right of the line are "rising" in intensity; these things are becoming more important as the person progresses forward. Maximally represented catagories are momentarily at their top and will thus always fall slowly once they are moved forward from. In the neutral dichotomies, the catagory to the right is the maximally rising one, and the catagory to the left is the maximally falling one. A person can, of course, not only progress forward but also go back to an earlier stage to take care of undone tasks or to fix mistakes of previous actions. In this case, the falling catagories increase, and the rising ones decrease. Normally, we expect the person to "progress", hence the naming.

    Example: ENTj
    Maximally represented: Democracy, Result, Positivist, Narrator
    Weakly represented falling: Resolute, Strategical, Carefree, Victimized, Intuition, Introvert function Empowering function
    Weakly represented rising: Serious, Emotion-Creating, Compliant, Thinking, Extrovert function, Limiting function

    Another thing to bring to light: a person can be on any point of the diagram. The neutral Creating Ni type (ENxj), for example, is as much a type as the ENTj is:
    Neutral Creating Ni (ENxj; Ej temperament):
    Maximally represented: Resolute, Strategical, Carefree, Victimized, Introvert function, Empowering function
    Neutral, maximally rising: Democracy, Result, Narrator, Positivist
    Neutral, maximally falling: Aristocracy, Process, Taciturn, Negativist
    Notice that the maximally rising catogories are opposite to the maximally falling ones. Notice also, that for every dichotomy, there is a counterpart dichotomy for the maximally rising and maximally falling aspect of it. For example: maximally rising introvert/maximally falling extrovert == taciturn. In the dichotomic description V.2 thread, all dichotomies are described in relation to their rising/falling counterparts.

    Furthermore...
    "Maximally falling" or "to the left on the type spectrum" is often refered to as concrete or +.
    "Maximally rising" or "to the right on the type spectrum" is often refered to as abstract or -.
    Falling being + and rising being - is not a typo. I remember smilingeyes ranting about the fact that these two are named opposite to how they should be.

    The bottom part of the OP is smilingeyes' attempt at creating type descriptions from the above data by putting all the information from the descriptions together.

    .................................................. .................

    Out of odd circumstance, i ran into this and this, at the present rate, is the very decision i am trying to make about my type (which is presently under proffesional testing analysis)....ENTp or ISFp.

    I seem to exhibit behavioural patterns of both types IRL.

    I dont know how to go about it to be able to to give one side a decided advantage over th eother. Your points 4 and 5 are of particular interest. I can relate to both "mood manipulation" and "mood validation when carried away". It seems though that if i give one side an advantage, it's a meager 55% /45% between the two. Where to from here?

    How can you tell who is ultimately at fault? We are all machines, - if a ball rolls off of the tower will you blame the guy stomping 50 feet away or the guy screaming 5 feet away? The only thing that truly matters is the balance of power and since the only thing that is certain is transformation, the balance is sure to shift with time just as is everything else; in times of confusion it is the victor who will rewrite history (or 'his story') and his followers will be selected to persevere.

    I find this highly annoying. I hate it when XIIs feel they need to rush into the unexplored world only to make it safe for pussies. So much for the unknown frontier. All the real boundaries of the imagination were officially smothered with half-baked personal biases and randomly contradicting legalities for centuries before I was even born.

    I know that this may seem like the kind of process, positivist 'calm down with soft talk' rehabilitation an LSI would support, but making people into subjectively pessimistic results and ostracizing them as outlined in an internally consistent and supposedly 'intuitive' system of ethics will accomplish nothing but label the accused in the mind of the judge, which is only useful for future prevention. Must we really be defined by the rules to which we adhere? Definitions are inherently limiting, and even judges in adjacent buildings must eventually diverge in their rulings.

    A couple of things... just as a reminder...

    1. This is one of the earlier major things I did to advance socionics on the forum. Some of my views were still kind of half-baked. While the graphs are eminently usable, the analysis that I gave in this thread is interesting more than absolutely correct. It is here in the close to original form primarily for its historical value.
    2. The graphs are easy to use. A five year old INFj and a drunken ESFp have been able to use them. You just need to be able to read and follow a line by pointing it with your finger. If you don't get it, it's not the graph's fault.

    This is how one finds out what descriptions go with the ISTj type using this tool:

    (cheerfulness, obstinacy and emotion-creating SHOULD be clearly left of the red line, centered straight underneith the -Ti+ caption)

    On top of the line (describe the type best):
    Aristocracy
    Process
    Positivism
    Narrative

    POSITIVISM, PROCESS, ARISTOCRACY & NARRATIVE are maximal at BETA and DELTA.
    The IJ feel that it’s their sole personal duty to be proactive and force others to adapt and accept their actions. Their methods are to take charge in difficult situations by personally accomplishing critical tasks and to calm people down with soft talk when they are happy and calm.

    Left of the line (are strong but decreasing in importance as the person attains his/her goals):
    Creerfulness
    Obstinacy
    Emotion-creating

    CHEERFUL, OBSTINATE & EMOTION-CREATING are maximal at Ti.
    In moments of danger, the IJ feels a sense of entitlement. Danger makes him feel overwhelmed and passive, therefore he must pre-empt danger and rush to solve a dangerous situation whenever possible and with whatever means he has at hand. He will firmly resist any action that he feels will lead to personal danger.

    Right of the line (are strong and increasing in importance as the person attains his/her goals):
    Resolute
    Tactics
    Carefree
    Agressive

    CAREFREE, TACTICAL, RESOLUTE & AGGRESSIVE are maximal at Se.
    When a huge number of things happen simultaneously the IJ feels he can blend in the action and do whatever he wants without opposition. He has difficulty making distinction with his own actions and those of others. If he is opposed he feels that he is automatically the wronged party and he will aggressively protect his interests.

    Far left of the line (are currently weak and decreasing further):
    Judiciousness
    Strategy
    Calculating
    Childish

    JUDICIOUS, CHILDISH, CALCULATING & STRATEGIC are maximal at Ne.
    When nothing is happening the IJ strives for righteousness and seeks actively seeks and tries out ideas that could form a basis for future action.

    Far right of the line (are currently weak yet slowly increasing):
    Gravity
    Compliance
    Construct-creating

    GRAVITY, COMPLIANCE & CONSTRUCT-CREATING are maximal at Fi.
    In moments of safety, the IJ is dutiful and lonely, receptive to any suggestions of communal activity. He feels overwhelmed by the importance of social bonds.

    Equally far left and right of the line (currently as weak as possible; don't describe the type at all):
    Democracy
    Result
    Negativism
    Taciturn

    DEMOCRACY, TACITURN, NEGATIVISM & RESULTS are maximal at ALPHA and GAMMA.
    The IJ feel that it’s their right to punish anyone who is a cause of anguish in their environment in a way they see correct. Their methods are to try to shout the wrong-doing person down and prove his unworthiness to everyone or to socially ostracize him.

    It would be better to link these to the descriptions in the Dichotomic Descriptions of types V2.0 though...

    Why does this guy seem Ti even though he types as ESTj. A Te type would have something better to do. This is where Socionics A meets Socionics B. Expat is all in on this, you can tell he was excited to post.

    I would suggest only caring about the charts in this thread. The rest is very ... primitive. The descriptions I wrote here, I wrote when I was only beginning to grasp the types as they are and hence I wrote in a crude and in some cases, erroneous way. The basic idea was and remains solid but the individual descriptions are not good. I could not recreate the original IP material here even if I wanted to and I have tried to clarify the same issues better in other threads.

    So, please enjoy and use the charts but think of the descriptions as evidence of my folly and proof that everyone needs to practise before they understand.

    Thank you.

    That's why I thought it would be good to combine this thread with the dichotomy 2.0 thread. It would be a little bit of work, but the result would probably be quite interesting:

    Alright, but even as a rough estimate I liked them..because they combined the dichotomies in description. I also like the way the functions move..the progression that is. I need to do more reading but it was just easier to get your idea of how they combine. It's a starting point from where otherwise would be a very difficult/time consuming thing to piece together.

    Me and Aiss were talking about Reinins, one thing led to another, and I pulled an all-nighter making math happen

    I found out the equations for the charts! I'm probably gonna do more here, I just gotta dump off what I have for EP and IP now...

    EP:

    a = decisive, farsighted, strategic, aggressor
    b = judicious, carefree, tactical, infantile

    c = merry, yielding, constructivist
    d = serious, obstinate, emotivist

    f = democratic, positivist, taciturn, process
    g = aristocratic, negativist, narrator, result

    a = (sin(2π(0.75+x))+1)/2
    b = (sin(2π(0.25+x))+1)/2

    c = (sin(2π(0.0+x))+1)/2
    d = (sin(2π(0.5+x))+1)/2

    f = (sin(2π(0.0+2x))+1)/2
    g = (sin(2π(0.5+2x))+1)/2

    IP:

    a = decisive, farsighted, tactical, victim
    b = judicious, carefree, strategic, caregiver

    c = merry, yielding, emotivist
    d = serious, obstinate, constructivist

    e = democratic, negativist, narrator, process
    f = aristocratic, positivist, taciturn, result

    a = (sin(2π(0.75+x))+1)/2
    b = (sin(2π(0.25+x))+1)/2

    c = (sin(2π(0.0+x))+1)/2
    d = (sin(2π(0.5+x))+1)/2

    f = (sin(2π(0.0+2x))+1)/2
    g = (sin(2π(0.5+2x))+1)/2

    I still have to do EJ and IJ, then I'm gonna do something further with the math...

    it's erotic styles dichotomized (in other words: Si vs Ni). you'll notice for static temperaments it's replaced by childlish/aggressive (Ne vs Se).

    Ah I see, didn't know romancing styles have also gotten dichotomized.

    Nice, that sort of looks like Lenore's cognitive functions model.

    Don't really know what to say about that.
    Thanks? I guess.

    Anyway, teaching everyone socionics was never my goal. I felt that understanding things was a race. By making material available to others I was already giving people a leg up. Anyone complaining about the presentation quality belonged into r/choosingbeggars. That's how I used to feel. Nowadays, I just don't care this way or that.
