    Default Great and little detail

How much detail do you give when describing something:
    - maximal (ENTj, INTp, ENFj, INFp, ESFj, ISFp, ESTj, ISTp)
    - minimal (ENTp, INTj, ENFp, INFj, ESFp, ISFj, ESTp, ISTj)

Hugo, how did you determine which types were "little" or "lots"? (I picked lots)

This is testing for the taciturn/narrative dichotomy, isn't it?

I tend to give just enough detail so that the other will understand what I'm clearly saying. The amount of detail I give also depends on the person: some want more detaills than others. I prefer not to have to give too much detail unless needed.

So you give a minimum amount of detail. I'll amend the question.

    Lots.

I give the maximum amount of details (which is about as many as I can think of) so that I know the person understands what I'm saying. My understanding consists of various non-verbal elements (usually visual), and those often require a heavy amount of description to explain.

Definitely minimal. I hate explaining things. A LOT.

    Keep it up Hugo.

What does this mean, exactly? What does it mean to wish to convey a "maximal" amount of information? Does it mean you like to talk or, in the case of some individuals, type a lot?

Its not really stable thing for me. Kinda depends on how well I plan on explaining.

My INTJ father is like the energizer bunny when he is explaining something... he keeps going and going and going and off on some tangent.... and then, after not long, I start daydreaming.

Im in this boat. It depends alot on what I am describing or explaining and to who. I find I will rattle on something fierce unless the person can give me acknowledgement that they understand. If they just stare at me blank faced without nodding or saying something I'll just keep going till I get a response. But I hate it when people do that.
Example: There is this one istj that does that. We're in a conversation and Im explaining something and she is just staring at me, like she's listening' but no acknowledgement, as in 'oh I see, or hmmm thats strange etc.'
Finally Im like 'Well, do you or dont you agree?'
She "What?... Oh I stopped listening to you a long time ago. You just keep talking..."
    Me "Sigh"

I always tend to give as much detail as possible, but depending on the response I get I sometimes regret it...

    Oh, is it too late?

I tend to give much crappy detail when write (see my past posts) and take many pause when speak. Both two come from same reason; I hate to be mistaken about what I meant to tell. So I speak less, write much because written words can be refered back but spoken words are not so.
Then it pointed me as ISTp rather than INTp. Maybe can foresee what will be mistaken and prevent it, but I don't have it so much.

this is what i do. i can go into great detail if i want/need to be thorough or feel like the other person doesn't understand. otherwise, i'd rather not deal with the superfluous stuff.[/quote]

Your thinking sounds alot like mine. Are you also an INTj?
