    Default James Bond

Peter and I saw Casino Royale today. We disagreed about his type... one of use said ESTp and one said ISTp.

I'd never seen a James Bond movie before, so my opinion was based solely on the new movie. He said he was basing his opinion on that movie too though.

    Anyways, what do you think?

I think he's a different type depending on who plays him. Pierce Brosnan's Bond was ESTp, Roger Moore's ENFp, and Sean Connery's, ESFp. Haven't seen the new one yet.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

There are those who say he isn't good looking enough to be a good James Bond. I think he's quite good looking, but then he's an older guy and I'm an old lady ( ) so who knows.

    This is good.

I haven't seen it yet, either.

The Bond of the original Ian Fleming novels was an ESTp.

I thought he was really hot too, and I am very rarely attracted to blondes. There's something about the shape of his face that I like, though I don't think I could be with someone with an attitude/temperament like his. Would anyone like like to VI the actor?

The whole thing seems like designed for an ESTp. Fast cars, fast women, unlimited cash, mystery, adventure, travel, gadgets(Toys) and so on. Or at least somebody very adventurous with a preference for that type of lifestyle.

Daniel Craig = Delta ST? (poss. ESTj?)

I think Timothy Dalton, my fav Bond, is also ESTj in real life (not sure about his Bond), and Sean Connery has been typed as ESTj. There's some pattern here  . The book Bond is certainly ESTp, but because of the movie script + technology etc., Bond in the films seems to have more of a mix of and .

btw, regardless of not having seen the newest Bond movie, I think James pretty much has to be an EP by default.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,

Personally, I feel that his thirst for adventure would most likely be what an ISTp craves for.

Oh, and if the character itself (disregarding the way he is portrayed) is definitely ESFp. Like, the epitome.

Most ISTps I know are actually rather conservative in that aspect. James Bond does NOT have a Fe polr.

Just saw it a couple of hours ago.
The new James Bond - ESTp
The bad guy at the airport - ESTp
    The married babe - ESFp
    The bond girl - ISTp.
    M - ENTj (gut feeling)

And FDG is right. That guy does not have Fe PoLR. Joy, you're out of your mind if you think that the perfect human-reader has got Fe-PoLR. Did you watch the movie or did you sit at the last row?

I always sit in the last row at the movies. Except that one time when Peter made me sit in the middle when we saw Napoleon Dynomite, I hate having people behind me.

I could see Sean Connery's Bond as having a Fe polr....perfect human-reader? I've seen characters that fit that description better.

And Fe is NOT the only way people can read others. Do you think that all IxTps are unable to successfully deal with others? That they never have any clue what's going on at all? Are incapable of playing poker well? Bond didn't use people's emotions and changes in internal states to read them, he used physical characteristics and their changes.

Yeah, he's got strong Se. Yeah, he's got weak Fi... But I still think he's Si > Se and Te > Ti. He's a fictional character, so he's not going to fit into any type perfectly, but the character in the movie didn't seem to care much that he had a nice car, other than that he needed it to get the job done. And he didn't care about the money much, either. He didn't ever use any more Se than he needed to in order to get the job done.

Yeah, that's how ESTps do it.

Besides, a person who is the best poker player in the British forces, who can get any girl he wants, who can observe and use the subtle hints in someone's physical state and someone's emotional reactions to questions is hardly a good example of Fe-PoLR.

Si>Se blabla... who says. That's awfully subjective. I, on the other hand, say that he had considerably Se>Si and there was no indication whether it was Te or Ti. He never stopped using Se. From the moment he walked into the room to the moment he left the room. He was "the boss". He didn't give a damn about comfort. He didn't project any of the relaxed-ISTp feeling. When there were other people nearby, he tried to be mentally the strongest.

And he did fit the ESTp type almost perfectly. He was too reckless. That's the stereotypical ESTp flaw. He had problems with emotional closeness to women - that's something similar to what people have written about Fi-PoLR. And when we talk about the quadra ages, then I would say I definitely see him more as a teenager than a mature old man.

Okay, we saw totally different things in him and therefore must now agree to disagree.

Why don't you talk about HOW you see Si and Te in him instead of just blatantly stating things like you ALWAYS do? Maybe people will actually give you credibility and respect with regards to your own socionics type if you start to back up what you say about others instead of just making assertions.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

I haven't seen this latest movie, and Daniel Craig does look ISTp to me. However, based on the James Bond movies I have seen (every one but this latest one) I'd go with ESTp over ISTp. I mean, he likes the gadgets but he's not like making them or anything. And he really reminds me of the ESTp we pit next to at the races.

Edited to add how he reminds me of the ESTp I know - they're both very confident, very flirty, love having fun, love adreneline rushes, and are good at getting down to business when necessary.
