    Default His Dark Materials

    Lyra: ENTp logical
    Pantalaimon: ISFp ethical
    Will Parry: ENFp intuitive
    Lord Asriel: ISTp logical
    Miss Coulter: ESFj ethical
    Iorek Byrnison: ISTp sensory
    John Faa: ESTj sensory
    Lee Scoresby: ESFj sensory
    Farder Coram: IxFj ethical
    Mary Malone: INxj intuitive
    Iofur Raknison: ESTp sensory
    Master: INxj intuitive

    Panserbjorne: Gamma
    Jordan College: Alpha

But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

Nah. If you read the books, you'll see that she has

    1) Weak - a poor estimation of physical danger and her means to deal with it
    2) Strong -an EXCELLENT understanding of symbology and the "essences" of things (reading the aletheometer? Hello?)
    3) Weak - She's pretty blunt and doesn't really seem to let anyone get too close to her
    4) EP Temperment - risk taker, irrational, hot tempered
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

I would have thought Will was more ISTp? Maybe I'm very wrong about this?

I loved the books until I read the ending - it was unneccessary IMO having a book attacking religion when being set in an unrealistic universe which has no ultimate happy ending for the main characters . It was like an universe better than ours but without the hope - i.e. not better at all. It will just give kids a pessimistic view of the world .

what an outrage... pessimistic, anti-religious books should be outlawed...

Let's stop this before it gets started. Don't even go there, either of you.

I have a pretty good nose for these things; I start them a LOT. And I don't want my thread going to shit. Now talk about the books, or shut the hell up.

as of yet, we haven't done anything other than talk about the books. i would say that the slight digression made still falls under this category.

    What about:
    Serafina Pekkala and
    Roger? ISFp?

I'm not sure about Mrs Coulter being ESFj...couldn't she be ENFp or something else?

It was about to digress, and you know that. Don't play dumb; just stop.

I don't think Roger has enough time as an active character to be typed. Serafina could be ISFp.

Lyra as an ENTp? Hey, it actually makes sense, never thought of it before.

I <3 HDM trilogy... absolutely adore. I was in tears at the end of Amber Spyglass.. literally. It has been the only book to ever move me in that way.

I do believe Lyra + Will are Duals? Or at least Semi-Duals... That would make Will an ISFp or ISTp... he is NO ENFp to me. Think about it ... what makes you say he's ENFp? =/ None of the attitudes or actions that an ENFp would normally do. He has a talent for hiding in the shadows and PREFERS to be in the shadows, without people noticing/bothering him. And he seems much more "grounded" and Si to me than all over the place Ne.

I've always placed Lyra as an ESTp or ENFp. I agree with the fact that their daemons should be their Duals and Pantalaimon seems.. ISFp I suppose. I actually thought he seemed ISTj ... very dutiful and cautious, wary, telling her not to get into trouble all the time.

I think the conflict surrounding the Panserbjorne is a good example of what happens when two "leaders" emerge who are both of Quadras adjacent to the Quadra of the group they wish to lead, but are of opposite quadras.

I've never quite understood this part of Se. Se-types I've met have all been more risktaking than I am. Gambling, law-breaking etc.. Since Ne makes you aware of possible outcomes of an action I am aware of all the things that could go wrong.
I am most definitely aware of things that can go wrong: I just choose to ignore them. Also, things sometimes CAN go wrong, but for a number of reasons there are certain moments in time in which things are less likely to go wrong than normal.

Lyra is a really interesting character, actually: she shows lots of the stereotypical signs of , but shows all of the REAL type-spotting traits of .
