what's worse is that it seems like people in the linguistics department love to use that show as an example of whatever whatever whatever (discourse markers, conversation turns, etc.)

Not ALL. Not Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, Arnold Scwartzlksehj, Hillary Duff, or Hayden Christianson... and maybe others... but MOST because that's the type that would search after that kind of job (Ne Ne Ne).

2 acting is not Ne. if anything infps are much more prevalent in that field.
3 i change my vote. istps and istjs are similar which is probably why one or both of us misinterpret a person as one or the other.

I love that show but think the dude is playing an ISFP, and even plays ISFPs in most the things he acts in, or at least some of the humor style.
