I think what annoys me the most about progressive virtue signalling is its inherent pettiness. It takes far more effort to change yourself for the better than it does to admonish someone else for who they are. More often than not, the person doing the shaming has committed far worse crimes than those they attempt to condemn. We ought to examine our own behaviour before overreacting to that of others.
