Ghandi was almost certainly NT, IMO. ENTp is my guess at this point in time, although I'm having a really hard time finding a suitable pic.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

INTp - he's the same type as Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.

BTW, Indira Ghandi (not related) = ENFj.

I always had this idea of INFP as the peaceful type and now I don't anymore.

    They usually are peaceful.

Ghandi would be smacked around by our society for domestic abuse at this point in time.

No. I was trying to find it online. I didnt but I did find a written story about hos Ghandi's hunger strike did more harm than good due to politics. It's hard to find anything unbiased about him because of liberal fluff pieces portraying him as a saint.

Anyways, it was from a book about his neglect of his domestic duties that led to some fucked up-ness of some of his sons.

Yeah. Well, I guess you get the point though-- saints, gods and demi-gods in media yet human and flawed in reality.

Strangely enough, Ghandi isn't deified in India itself as much as he is in the West.

    Why not p?

would a p be that motivated to change the world?

Why don't you tell me why he should be a p?

I don't know if he is a p, but I don't see why ps shouldn't be motivated to change the world. I used to be pretty active in political activism and such and I know a number of ps who are (all ENFps I know irl are, for example). If anything, it's a type thing, not a p thing...

I want someone to please please explain the "feeling" in that man. He was a cold-assed, calculating, precision oritented SOB who wasn't very good with close relationships. I heard that Ghandi was basically a prick (legends aside). He could have been INTP.

As UDP said, it depends who you ask, but that is a surprisingly common scenario. India today is a nation of intense disparity - mind-bogglingly industrialized on one hand, and miserably impoverished in others. Furthermore, Pakistan and especially Bangladesh have been far less fortunate in their efforts to modernize. There's a great number of people on the Indian subcontinent who are disillusioned and bitter with the cards they ahve been dealt. It's very easy to lay the blame at the feet of those who came before, and Ghandi makes the perfect scapegoat for this. I agree it's unfair - he had no way of truly gauging the impact of his actions, and that in trying to unify India he would tear it further apart.

But then again, India has never been unified in reality. To say you are Indian is the equivalent of saying you are European or Asian. The cultures bear some superficial similarities and the people all look kind of all the same, but the languages, religion, traditions, music, art are incredibly varied.

I think he had rather too strong to be INFp, and he actually was not as charismatic as his legacy suggests. As Rocky said, his relations with his wife and sons was far from warm. (But then again, it was an arranged marriage... it was not uncommon then and still is not uncommon now for there to be substantial distance between husband and wife in Indian marriages. More distance than most Westerners would be comfortable with, at least.) INTp makes sense to me.

Gandhi was none of those things; you have no clue what you're talking about.

And I'm pretty sure he was INFj-- DEFINITELY an NF-- idealistic, passionate about human nature, no doubt about that. I is a consensus.

Rather than just laugh at you, I'll be more helpful, but be aware that I am also laughing at you.

    1) you clearly have no clue about Socionics typing, and that stuff about "quick on his feet bla bla judgements bla bla - J" is sheer nonsense, even for MBTI;

    2) you have a idealized and naive view of Gandhi as a man - are you basing that judgement on the movie?

You know buddy, if you actually had a point, your pathetic attempts at condescending might work on some people but I may as well tell you, it's wasted on me.
It's very well-agreed upon that Gandhi was INFj and you didn't contradict anything I said with an actual argument, rather you decided to act like a small smug child. I didn't say anything about Gandhi that was incorrect and I don't feel the need to justify my statements and cite sources for them to someone like you, especially when they are universally known to be true. It might help you to learn some common sense about the man before you start acting like you knew him personally. Next time, maybe try to say something rather than simply be a moron if you expect to be taken seriously.

First, you asked for it by the way you acted - "go fuck a goat" etc, and by your arrogant manner. That is why I acted in a condescending manner. You had no right to expect anything else.

First, "it's wel-agreed upon" it's just to appeal to authority, "it's true because others say so".

The "actual argument" I made was on this:

And I'm pretty sure he was INFj-- DEFINITELY an NF-- idealistic, passionate about human nature, no doubt about that. I is a consensus and he was very quick on his feet and made excellent judgments-- J.
This shows you have no clue about Socionics or even MBTI, and that is why FDG and Rocky laughed at you. If you had behaved better I might have carefully explained why you were wrong, but since you had not, I decided to make fun of you.

Again, can you say anything besides things like "everyone knows it"?

But here goes a piece of real argument -- even for MBTI, J is not about "making excellent judgements", and I very much doubt that you will find any serious MBTI source that says that it is.
