I saw this article posted on another forum as an example of type 9. Does anyone here who types as a 9 relate to its contents?

and sp instinct hmm
She's def a 9.
But... for which reason a "simple life" is considered "mediocre"? That's nonsense. That's indoctrination of the masses.
Not having or wanting to live through vanity, greed or infinite hunger for achievement means mediocrity by default.
Since when enjoying the little things and being satisfied with what you have even if its not much, has become a sin or a sign of mediocrity?

I seek a 'simple life' I suppose, free from conflict and strife, where I don't have to be constantly rushing around. However, I cannot accept mediocrity in myself. I have strong need for self-improvement, to utilize my potential, to do something 'significant' with my life.
I'm not sure I'm a 9 though. I think 6 fits more, but I have been typed as 9 by some people.

Don't relate to it at all. Growth for me would be to be "ok(-ish)" with whatever is considered mediocre. I'm too much of a perfectionist / idealist. I have incredible high standards for myself and my life, which extends to more people when I'm in a healthier mindset.
I do understand the sentiment of feeling like I "don't have it in me," but that's me in a state of depression.
Simple life is just simple. Why make it complicated? that's where I see people being truly happy if you ask me.
You can do insanely complicated things without being a cog in the machine.
Reason why some gammas truly baffle me.

I wouldn't call it 'mediocre', per se. I would be more inclined to call it 'simple'.
I would be perfectly happy living off of >$100k, as long as I and/or my wife can support our family. In an ideal situation, I would run away from society and live with my friends Timon & Pumbaa.
Si specifically...Ne means having some desire to increase the potential in one's life.
The post didn't actually say that.
But, stability or what exists currently is always our reference point. You don't set goals to be what you already are, so where you are can be considered "in the middle" subjectively.
The iei 9 (probably sp/so) I know would recoil at this. He was talking about how his retired parents spend their days snacking and doing crossword puzzles and I said "that doesn't sound so bad" and he gave me a horrified look lol.
That sounds like Buddhism and a bit of Delta (if there really is such a thing).
The "simple life" as in like a monastic Buddhist life might be good... Just get away from everything to live a simple life. But doing things like crossword puzzles just seem like a distraction. You'd have to be enlightened, like being awed by nature or just the simple joy of interacting with people.
Why am I wasting my time on the internet... this is bullshit. I want to be spending time with people. I'm an so!
Life was always simple, people have just forgotten that, and instead followed the herd of people who 'want it all'.
I have a friend who makes tons of money, if I look at what he has or does, it's not more than me. Life is simple and pretty boring. Just look at a cat's life and remember that you yourself are just an animal too.

The OP seems consistent with enneagram 9 descriptions, but it also seems more consistent with a healthy, balance life perspective; something more people should consider.
A slow life is not a mediocre one.
You may for example create extremely useful and beautiful things by working slowly. Just a specific example.
I believe "everyone" can be good at something he-she has to just find his/her niche.
