The left brain is also referred to as the digital brain. It controls reading and writing, calculation, and logical thinking. The right brain is referred to as the analog brain. It controls three-dimensional sense, creativity, and artistic senses. These two work together, to allow us to function as humans.

In the quiz's context, it could be referring to varying things. It could refer to 1/0 switches, sequential processing, attention to dot/dash/pause equivalents in communication, who knows.

Oh, also, there are 14 descriptors, so that's slightly unfortunate, but the left and right one come in pairs. Digital is paired with Emotion. Emotion is Fe, so Digital could be seen potentially as Fi (comparisons of Emotion) or Te (because it sounds like a program) or whatever else.

I usually get balanced or right brain when I take these types of quizzes. I can see the spinning dancer rotate in both directions but she usually starts out spinning clockwise (except for today) and then I focus and make her switch to counterclockwise. Once I get started I can spin her back and forth at will.

In popular psychology, the illusion has been incorrectly[6] identified as a personality test that supposedly reveals which hemisphere of the brain is dominant in the observer. Under this wrong interpretation, it has been popularly called the Right Brain–Left Brain test,[7] and was widely circulated on the Internet during late 2008 to early 2009.[8]

A recent publication describes the brain activation related to the switching of perception. Utilizing fMRI in a volunteer capable to switch at will the direction of rotation, it was found that a part of the right parietal lobe is responsible for the switching. More interestingly, the authors relate this brain activation to the recently described Spontaneous Brain Fluctuations [9]

It has been speculated that a similar mechanism may be involved in perception of 'direction of time'. [10]

These quizzes are kind of fun to do and relieve stress sometimes. My results really depend on what I am focused on in any given moment. If I score highly on right brain it is because I am in my woo woo mode.

    Ah. Mine is clockwise.

I wonder if it was really necessary to give the dancer nipples.

I almost thought this was a joke. I can only see her spinning counter clockwise. I kept staring, thinking it was one of those tricks where something scares you. No change. Only counter clockwise.

Weird. After reading about this though, it seems it has more to do with perception than brain side dominance. Stil, very interesting!

I I think it's funny that we both got opposite responses from the spinning test compared to the previous test.
