Default Music for alpha ( :Fe: special)

    Hey there, fellow alphanians.

I was listening to "Return To Innocence"
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Return_to_Innocence

And thought that it was a very good song, that had a proper, reasonable use of . IT always lifts my mood. It's not too over the top, and like it. I like songs from other cultures because it's different, and sometimes not being able to understand them is better. Sometimes you can just sense the or whatever, or the joyus ness.

Also, any music in general that you think your fellow alphas would like .... (mostly INTjs, I guess). Talk about it or share it or bring it up or whatever. We ought to have a collective bunch of musical tastes....

Ironically, I was just listening to this song. But I suppose I'll talk about my musical tastes. My greatest musical love is that of classic rock (late '60s, early '70s) and contemporary indie rock. I prefer bands with unique sounds, experimentation of sound, and a level of expertise or mastery of sound.

Bands I find myself listening to: The Who, The Allman Brothers Band, The Animals, Architecture in Helsinki, The Band, Cream, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Death Cab for Cutie, The Dandy Warhols, The Decemberists, The Doors, Elf Power, Greatful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Jethro Tull, Jimi Hendrix, The Kinks, Led Zeppelin, Modest Mouse, The Moody Blues, Neutral Milk Hotel, Of Montreal, Pink Floyd, Pixies, The Postal Service, Queen, Radiohead, The Rolling Stones, Rush, The Shins, The Velvet Underground, We Are Scientists, The Yardbirds, Yoko Kanno (anime music)

Umm... what did you listen to btw? A show preformance, or a recorded song? Personally, I just think they sound much better on the recorded stuff (they have two albums out, but the third is comming out in about two weeks... it's called Amputechture)... anyway...

Yeah I know what you mean. Maybe for some F types or something, but not for me.

If I knew I was taking artificial stimulants to boost my mood, I'd compromise my personal integrity, and I'd realize what I was doing and be disgusted with myself. It is still a matter of music reflecting or complying with my inner state, and most of the time, I am not in the mood to be morose about things, or depressed. I've spent plenty of years there, and it's an old hat for me now.

Oddly enough, I find that I enjoy being happy. Or, as it were, neutral with a stronger tendency towards 'upbeat' / joyusness. But it very much reminds me of Lao Tzu -- "express yourself completely and everything will fall into place": when I have my 'bad moods', I play those songs, and express how I'm feeling at that moment. But I see no reason to linger in a state of morosity.

Such a lingering is just another attacthment in my eyes, another excuse to make, or another reason to give yourself for 'not being happy', or whatever. ... and so on.....

What are some of your favorite music/bands that exemplifies this extreme highs and lows (dynamics?) of sound and moods? I'd like to know.

currently my favorite low/slow/sad song is I Never Wanted You by The Headphones the most mood altering though would probably be Slow Car Crash also by The Headphones.

i like a lot of no-name bands for this purpose. i also like songs that contrast all the moods within the same song as well as listening to an "up" song and contrasting it with a "down" song. i'll try to give examples that contrast one another.

Double Negative - The Jim-Yoshii Pileup

Gas and Matches - The Headphones

    Sickbed - Rainer Maria

don't know the name of the song - the weakerthans

i can upload more songs and such if you wish. when i was responding i was about to put about 50 different band names and/or songs but it was too much so i stopped.

i was going to upload i hate myself and want to die, wave motion gun, head full of ghosts, where is my mind?, fuckin' in the bushes, and shadow on the sun to represent the more famous bands that i like. to me it is all about SONGS though not bands.

also (as demonstrated by my name) i really like pedro the lion (the band) because of a the large amount of contrasting elements. here are some contrasting songs.

    Of Up And Coming Monarchs

    Penetration

    Winners Never Quit

    Rapture

    June 18, 1976

    Rehearsal (sample)

    Arizona

(eh, since i already uploaded some that i said i was going to upload anyway i might as well include them:

Fight the feeling - The Music

Head Full of Ghosts - Bush

    It's Saturday - Marcy Playground

Where is my mind? - The Pixies)

honestly though i could probably go on forever.

too many different moods in the same song doesn't work for me. It gets too tiring, and even more so, they seem more and more fake

I do too... but not usually in the same song. I like multiple angles and perspectives, but I dont know about conflicting or contrasting moods. It would have to be very well done, and not just alternating for the sake of contrast

Maybe I'll have to check out what you mean... but it doesn't sound so good initially
