    Default Hello, everyone!

    Hi,
I'm ILE, currently live in Birmingham, Alabama, but was born and grew up in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. I'm a molecular geneticist and a very nerdy person. I love Russian classic literature and American sci-fi, adore Hayao Miyazaki movies and Gustav Klimt paintings. In my free time volunteer in a program that teaches kids how science is cool and how to keep a healthy lifestyle. I got into socionics several years ago and though still keep some scepticism about it, find it quite helpful in explanations of human social behavior and getting clues about relationships. Hope to learn more here and will be happy to interact.

I remember going there when it was in Atlanta, and they're the best.

    Hi
    -
    Dual type (as per tcaudilllg)
    Enneagram 5 (wings either 4 or 6)?

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

Hi, Amber, sorry to be such a disappointment! Maybe, you can share some examples of not-such-low art with me? I grew up in a family of artists and art-critics, though my own expertise is in the totally different area.
as to literature, I do not like Tolstoy, but definitely am intrigued with Dostoevsky. An yes, Demons and especially Idiot are among my favorites. But I Bulgakov, Gogol and Strugatsky brothers would probably be my favorites. Probably, just an influence of my cultural background.

Where did you move from Atlanta?

Yep, and every time I drive from Birmingham to Atlanta I pass Oxford and Bremen (Alabama) as well as a road sign towards Athens (Georgia). Welcome to the United States!

Wow! Thank you, Amber, nice to hear these words, especially coming from ESI.
I have Water Serpents above the fireplace in my living room. In addition to Klimt, I share you appreciation of Kandinsky and, of course, Matisse; used to spend a lot of time in the museum in front of their paintings. Unfortunately, have never seen original Klimt
