I think there is something off about the scoring when it comes to "no preference". It's given two meanings, a) neither applies, vs b) equally valued. I think "equally valued" shouldn't score the same as "neither applies".

By the way, I've just read this:
The test provided comes from Don Riso's book Discovering Your Personality Type: The Enneagram Questionaire (Houghton Mifflin Company). I have provided an on-line version of the test to make it easier to use. But for people who do not have internet access, it is best to go back to the book, which also has a lot of other useful information. You can find the book from most bookstores.

It seems contradictory to score high on both 4 and 7 since they are on opposite ends of introspection/outward orientation...

You can find the explanation for this discrepancy in the garbage, along with the rest of this test

I wouldn't say they necessarily are but I guess it may be the way they are generally described in Popular American Enneagram. 7s can have a rich inner life, filled with fantasies, plans and dreams and 4s can be outer oriented.

No, I took this same test several years ago.

    Scored type 4 both times.

    I think I'm actually a 5 or a 9.

    I think I'm more of a 5w4(almost a balanced 5) than 4w5, but still pretty close.

    Results from last week

    Results from today:

Your highest score will indicate you basic type, or it will be among the top 2-3 scores. Low scores in some type might come out negative. That's perfectly normal. For best results, you should answer all the questions that apply.
