Deltas tend to bond by gradually sharing personal information about themselves with those who are interested and trustworthy. They enjoy getting along with others peacefully when possible and don't easily relate to people who thrive on conflict. They like to see potential in people and situations and keep an open mind, and they value kindness, sincerity, and being good-natured. They don't get caught up in ideas such as "keeping up with the Jones" or "climbing the corporate ladder". They're unconcerned with social status and power games. If there is an interest in money it is only because it provides freedom, security, and comfort. Deltas focus on the characters of individuals and their relationships. They value pragmatism, frugality, and practicality (though not all are strong in this area). Academic pursuits are usually undertaken for the purpose of accomplishing an objective, not out of fondness for academia. Most enjoy outdoor recreation, even if it's just a walk in the woods or enjoying a beautiful landscape.
They aren't prone to dramatic emotional displays but rather prefer to calmly and openly discuss issues. Their attitudes towards people they know, places, ideas, and things tend to be relatively stable. There tends to be an interest in nutrition, health, and personal care routines/products. They tend to enjoy giving and receiving advice on interpersonal matters (or in the very least listening and showing support). Delta humor tends to take the form of puns, self-deprecation, running gags, inside jokes, and/or irony (saying the complete opposite of what you mean as a joke, such as saying that something innocuous offends you). They enjoy novel ideas and alternative perspectives. There tends to be an interest in self-improvement, and as such they see mistakes as learning opportunities and try to grow from hardships they face.
Most Deltas are "foodies" to some extent, and it's not uncommon to see them take an interest in things like brewing beer or other comparable hobbies. They tend to be earthy and/or goofy. They tend to value "natural beauty" and prefer to use make up to subtly enhance it, if make up is worn at all. They prefer to enhance their appearance with low-maintenance yet flattering hairstyles and cuts/colors of clothing that compliment them. There's an inclination towards taking a holistic approach to health and personal care. Many prefer to use natural products and ingredients from the kitchen for hygiene, remedies, and cleaning. Many fantasize about the idea of "living off the land" (growing what they need and being self-sufficient), though most don't actually do it. They value products that well made with quality materials more than brand names or fads. Deltas value practical knowledge and skills, such as the ability to fix cars and things around the house, useful tips and tricks, and productive hobbies.
They aren't prone to harsh judgments, extreme competitiveness, and vengefulness but prefer to try to find win win solutions and demonstrate good will when reasonable to do so. Deltas tend to value the accumulation of useful general knowledge. They value independent thought and are relatively unlikely to get swept into hype and heated propaganda. Deltas prefer to include others in groups and activities but will readily yet gently exclude from their inner circles those who do not meet their standards for behavior. They prefer to treat others in a respectful and supportive manner when possible.
Non-Deltas may mistake our peaceable nature for apathy or weakness. Some may see Delta as noncommittal, boring, uncool, unambitious, lacking passion, weak/lax, nonacademic, judgmental, unsophisticated, indecisive, preachy, simplistic, not fun, self-righteousness, stubborn, over sharing, too personal, unsupportive of group projects, short-sighted, and too nice. Deltas are often regarded as being “salt of the earth” people.
