    Default John Oliver

On his return to "The Daily Show," Oliver told Stewart: "HBO will let me say whatever the f--- I want."
"I've made so many people angry that they kind of blur into one unpleasant memory of people staring at you with somewhere between passive aggression and active aggression." -- John Oliver

for some reason, EII comes to mind for Oliver. probably Ne-Si quadra in any case. i wouldn't argue against another Ne typing for him.

He seems intuitive (of the Ne flavor) because he's interested in global issues, and rational because he usually has a main point that he's criticizing. Very systematic in his approaches. Guess I could see EII or LII, a strong Ne subtype in either case.

Maybe he'd be a good benchmark for a male EII. I suppose my ideas of what an EII is are based on females only, which is a problem.

:/ your self-typing still doesn't explain your arrogance (not only in this thread, but others i have seen you post in), nor why you presume to understand where Hacim is coming from regarding his understanding of Fi. most of your posts i've seen seem to be criticizing other people's understanding of socionics, while also parroting Socionix gallery typings.

i said what i said because most of your socionics posts seem to involve you going around telling people they are wrong about their understanding of all things socionics, and then presenting your own opinion as the more "correct" and "enlightened" one, and that's what i find arrogant. i think most people here understand that there's much more to Socionics than type descriptions - this isn't MBTI.

    Umm LII

    Or
    LIE
    -
    Dual type (as per tcaudilllg)
    Enneagram 5 (wings either 4 or 6)?

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

Well LIE is certainly a lot more plausible than EII as I see it. He has a very similar shtick to Jon Stewart, who is also LIE in my view.

I could probably see some other extraverted typings though.

In one of the socionics descriptions it lists EII as a type that doesn't know how to joke and as a type that rarely smiles, and this strikes me as accurate with some EII I know. This seems not to fit Oliver, he knows humor and knows subtlety and smiles easily. I know an EII that laughs only at his own jokes and they are terrible, and every time someone else speaks, he's too busy reacting emotionally to pick up the subtlety that Oliver's entire humor is based in. Oliver seems very present and pleasant and goofy. Extroverted probably. Not a hammering bludgeon like an ESTP comedian, he's irreverent, and trying to be loose. Doesn't shame and condemn with same ruthlessness as say a Bill Maher who savages people who think unlike himself . He's like Conan O'Brian with better writers. Some type of SF, though I lean towards Se/Fi, because he is all over the place with this whole "wait wait, there's more" while people laugh and a hint of Te, although not in ego block. This may be a "character" like Colbert, who people type all over the place. He strikes me as ethical. IDK

i see an ability with charismatic Fe but not much investment in it compared with Te and bluntness.....and he reacts to Colbert like I do whenever I watch Colbert. He's on about tearing down crapsystems, Ni creative likely. He tries for an adept slide across the desk...he has some physical world awareness but sheepishly self-effaces after it. I think i see Fi interest in values, ethics, etc

i think he is very intellectually energetic and assertive interpersonally....confident. he doesn't over-invest in coming off looking like a movies star, but I think he definitely has an energy that resembles some LIEs.

Hmm. He’s maybe like the writer Paul Theroux (LSE).

    https://goo.gl/images/aE1q8A

Incidentally Paul’s son Louis (BBC documentarian) looks a lot like his father but is probably LII.

ARe we SERIOUSLY talking about JOHN OLIVER in [current year + 5]?

Seriously though I'm going to throw IEE out there for personal reasons.
The Barnum or Forer effect is the tendency for people to judge that general, universally valid statements about personality are actually specific descriptions of their own personalities. A "universally valid" statement is one that is true of everyone—or, more likely, nearly everyone. It is not known why people tend to make such misjudgments, but the effect has been experimentally reproduced.

The psychologist Paul Meehl named this fallacy "the P.T. Barnum effect" because Barnum built his circus and dime museum on the principle of having something for everyone. It is also called "the Forer effect" after its discoverer, the psychologist Bertram R. Forer, who modestly dubbed it "the fallacy of personal validation".
