Question The nature of Socionics: What is Socionics?

Fair (yet to be seen) and gentle people of this realm forum. I pose you a question: What (I dare ask) is Socionics? Now, don't be so hasty as to dismiss me; for with one seemingly straight forward question, I ask two!

First: What is Socionics in a "dictionary" definition sense, but please refrain from the narrow minded actions of cut-and-paste and or direct quoting in total place of your own words; I wish that you would all give the most rigid definition you can muster, in your own terms.

Second: What is Socionics in an applicatory sense; is Socionics a literal psychological 'hierarchy' of (rigid?) personality archetypes that exist in-place of constantly shifting (usually) reactionary, and or, scenario based sludge of the frontal lobe.

    Or is it something different?

tl;dr What is Socionics in a general sense, and What is Socionics intended use (be it sociological descriptions of the workings of relationships; or psychological descriptions of ((rigid?)) personality types.)

Socionics is the study of intertype relations.

Its purpose is to understand others.
Projection is ordinary. Person A projects at person B, hoping tovalidate something about person A by the response of person B. However, person B, not wanting to be an obejct of someone elses ego and guarding against existential terror constructs a personality which protects his ego and maintain a certain sense of a robust and real self that is different and separate from person A. Sadly, this robust and real self, cut off by defenses of character from the rest of the world, is quite vulnerable and fragile given that it is imaginary and propped up through external feed back. Person B is dimly aware of this and defends against it all the more, even desperately projecting his anxieties back onto person A, with the hope of shoring up his ego with salubrious validation. All of this happens without A or B acknowledging it, of course. Because to face up to it consciously is shocking, in that this is all anybody is doing or can do and it seems absurd when you realize how pathetic it is.

Could you please elaborate further; I asked a (for the most part) general set of questions under the umbrella of one questions so i could better understand the nature of what Socionics is to other people (as well as find whether it's agreed upon by the collective, but this was a minor optional/bonus.)

    So concise. it.

“My typology is . . . not in any sense to stick labels on people at first sight. It is not a physiognomy and not an anthropological system, but a critical psychology dealing with the organization and delimitation of psychic processes that can be shown to be typical.” —C.G. Jung

It's the study of psychological types and how those types relate to one another and why. Here's a definition of "type":
a variant of congenital aggregate psychophysiological characteristics of the individual, affecting his mental processes, identifying possible predisposition, ability and potential ways of developing them, not subject to change and determined within socionical paradigm.
Sorry if this isn't what you're looking for.

What is the purpose of your inquiry?
