Last year I made 41k euros gross, which translates into 56k dollars at today's exchange rate, but I don't think the purchasing power is much higher than 40k dollars tbh.

The right investments and hard work saved my family and me... and it helped that some of us couldn't touch it until we could handle a lot of responsibilities. It was far from easy and a lot of struggle. I don't work now but I have steady income. I still struggle to manage it though. Also even though I don't work there are things I am held responsible for... it is how we divided things up in my family. We each have a role to play that keeps the system running smooth and if one person flakes out it throws us into chaos. That's how interdependent we are.

Nothing. But at least I'm not getting into debt thanks to my public education.
