    Default Inventive

    Basic Pleasure : recognition
    Basic Fear: obscurity

If you are hyper aware of feeling like this:

    Dislikes:

    obscurity
    anonymity
    failure
    role confusion
    anybody getting ahead of you
    poverty
    being thought inferior
being low in the pecking order
    being one-down
    dependence
    imperfection
    poor performance
    negative reactions from others
    critical judgments of others
    evaluation by others
    disapproval
    being inadequate
    being deficient
    poor health
    mistrust
    shame and doubt
    guilt
    inferiority
    isolation
    stagnation
    low hopes
    low expectations

Yet strive in your heart of hearts, your vision of perfection, to be like this:

    Likes:

    recognition
    approval
    attention
    perfection
    always being at one's best
    identity
    image
    status
    prestige
    success
    triumph
    greatness
    genius
    stardom
    fame
    glory
    wealth
    inventiveness
    cleverness
    innovativeness
    imagination
    intellectualism
    romanticism
    stylishness
    independence
    being one-up
    trust
    autonomy
    initiative
    industry
    intimacy
    generativity
    high hopes
    high expectations

    are you still Inventive?

I wonder how much 'missing the mark' affects our self typing. In other words, Inventive is my mark, my bullseye. Yet as an inherently flawed human, I cannot be at my mark at all times. So I fall into my 'dislikes'. If I can see my light at the end of the tunnel being Inventive/Likes, can I still call myself Inventive if I'm more on the side of 'dislikes'?

Would that make me the opposite of Inventive, if I operate more often on the dislikes side? Meaning, I'm more aware of my faults than my acheivements? I have a habit of focusing on my faults, everyplace I missed my mark or haven't acheived it yet.

Maybe this is an Inventive being hard on himself?

    thanks-

Inventive is not an Oldham type, it's a ptypes type.

    This page says 'Oldham Inventive'
    http://www.the16types.info/types.php?typename=ENTP

I have the Oldham book and yea, I don't think Inventive was in there.

    Whichever it is then.

I couldn't find an Oldham type that fit me perfectly. I had tested Sensitive/Idiosynch. Then Solitary.

    Inventive is good though.

yes that page I referenced was from this 'the16types.com' site. It correlates ENTp with Inventive and it fits me well too. At my best. At most perfect.

I can identify with a about half from the dislike group and a couple from the likes group.

More than anything I want to be recognized. I just can't figure out what I want to be recognized for. Sound like an ENTp problem?

Actually, I do know. Yet I fear one thing being the *only* thing I'm known for, or, being framed by that one thing (boxed in). I greatly fear expectations and being pinned. That's why I hesitate to put myself out there much of the time. I fear it's like one of those nail toys. Where you put your face in them and it makes a relief.

So in recognizing the dislikes (which seem like a 'one-down' position), do you not want to make the flipside come true? The likes? For an example, would you like to turn your obscurity into fame? Your low expectations into high ones?

These are the one's identified with. The ones not here I strongly didn't identify with.
Some of the things I really dislike but an apathetic to the flipside of it (if that makes sense).

But I'm not ENTp, so its no suprise that it doesn't all fit me

right. I was just probing to see if most people (or you then, specifically) can identify traits that hold you back, and see their flipside as well, as being something you strive for.

I may feel obscure, shamed, inadequate, dependent. But immediately want the opposite as my ideal or goal/vision/heaven state.
