    It's a made-up identity politics category. Don't bother with it. Just enjoy your life.

    HSP is just someone trying to cash in on Dabrowski's work as a new psychological fad https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overexcitability

    yay necro'ing three year old threads.

    When I first read about HSP it seemed kind of a little too 'delta-y' for my tastes. Yes I'm very sensitive, but like mu4 said I'm also incredibly provocative and I'm usually able to get under other people's skin as much as they get under mine. I just got a little annoyed at the creators sort of acting like innocent little delta angels, it seemed too unrealistic.

    Let's just say I take longer to adjust to new environment than others. Sometimes in situations where normally I'm socially inept I take painkillers and then I can socialize well, because half of not being able to talk to people is being overwhelmed sensorily and emotionally. Sometimes I feel like I have to forget about my body because it just adds a plethora of major distractions... but when it's numb and the stimuli is "depressed" then I feel much more stronger

    The answer is no. I've met someone who could qualify though.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phrenology

    An optimist - does not get discouraged under any circumstances. Life upheavals and stressful events only toughen him and make more confident. He likes to laugh and entertain people. Enters contact with someone by involving him with a humorous remark. His humor is often sly and contain hints and double meanings. Easily enters into arguments and bets, especially if he is challenged. When arguing his points is often ironic, ridicules the views of his opponent. His irritability and hot temper may be unpleasant to others. However, he himself is not perceptive of this and believes that he is simply exchanging opinions.

    Sorry, for bringing a comatose thread in this forum back to life.

    My thought was to do a post in an already existing thread instead of starting a new one. Search revealed that there are a few HSP threads in the forum.

    I guess there are a few different names for the same physiological or pyschological phenomena.

    I can relate to the points of
    * Imaginative/imaginational
    * Mental/intellectual
    right now
    and to
    * Emotional
    * Sensory/sensual
    at least in my childhood and teen years.
    Can not relate to Psychomotor (weak , I guess), though.
