I used POF several years ago. PERSONALLY (and I want to stress that point), I don't really like dating sites, they make me feel neurotic and strange. I would counsel LSE's to get off them and meet people in the real world. It's like they don't really want to go through the motions of getting close, and yet they want to be close to everybody? I'm sort of speculating I could be wrong.

On another strange note though, cam4cam sites seem to have a lot of deltas on them. Also, over the past few months I have met a lot of Delta swingers, it all cracks up to a confusing scenario of conservatism and bizarre progressive sexuality. Coupled with traditional relationship values (home, family, trust, love).

(please don't take my opinion of dating sites personally, I really don't care what others do with them, if it works, great!) I really feel like all the hype has cheapened life, maybe that's just my gay perspective, ie: look up Grindr.)

the weirdest message ive gotten on okcupid has been from very normal looking middle aged couple with a picture of themselves with their dog standing on a manicured lawn outside their beautiful two-story home looking for a third party to join them like another pet or something.

I have an Okcupid profile and it is really ONLY for the quizzes. My profile says so and also asks people not to message me unless I know them. It seems as if many people there can't read.

I´ve used okc at first as a foreigner some years ago ... mainly to meet a bunch of new people in the area I moved to fast. Nothing substantial has ever come out of it, I just met about 20 people overall (come to think of it, mostly Gamma SFs and Beta STs and NTs -- maybe just a coincidence), made many friends. In the US, as far as I´ve heard, this site can assure a serious way of dating, by what other people have told me over 40% people have met their partners this way. In Europe people are still very skeptical about it (unless foreigners) and in the Eastern part online dating is totally unusual. It would be regarded as a sign of "anomaly" to have a profile and meet people, still lots of preconceptions which I don´t know when and how will change.

when I was looking around to see where to make a profile ...it still appeared to be the most diverse and "hip" site around, you could at least find some "nerdy" and fun dudes and chicks and not just family-oriented losers or creeps.

OkCupid isn't the greatest place to try to get a date. It's a free site so those who register there are often non-committal signing up out of boredom to take the quizzes, and are not seriously looking for anyone to date. Come to think of it there was a disproportionate number of EIIs that I've met on there. I've heard people having better luck with Match.com and eHarmony as far as dating sites go.

^^^^ Those sites looked waaay too "serious" to me. Kind of like for people who are only looking for a "life partner". In the Berlin area there are lots of folks who are looking for opportunities to speak German or to do stuff in town. Basically what is called "new friends" and "activity partners". But it´s because there are so many foreigners. I´m still friends with a ILI and a LII I´ve met through that site who stayed in my area. Each to their own.
