    Default Bob Marley

I would guess ENTJ/ENFJ. His whole life was based on making improvements to people's lifes and fighting social injustices. That is all he sings about. This is not usually the way ESFps spend their lifes. He has about what 15 children with 30 different women? My guess is that he is not an INTj either.

He was very loud, aggressive and rebellious. He was very firm and logical. typical ENTJ or ENFJ but not INFp

    Let's type him!

Some videos (now, Marley is often quite stoned... in fact, I have never seen a video where he was not; as such, he is very easy to type as ESFp.):
    Get Up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVHPNoUHMio
    Redemption Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ob8v4Rk0mIU

Damn now I have to think of another option.

ENFp fits pretty well. He has that sort of mellow look that ENFp males tend to have. (Or it could just be the hash.)

NF no question for his idealism and empathy. He was a hugely expressed E, always singing about society in his music and not himself. Seems like a P for sure too; more spontaneous and carefree. ENFP!

    ENFj.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

You should be crucified upside-down on a rusty iron cross and left out for crows to eat. Go die alone face down in a ditch with mortal wounds inflicted over every inch of you body, with nobody to care or even worry about what happened to you.

That was a little harsh, but I think my point is clear. Most of us will never be a THIRD of the man Bob Marley was, regardless of whether or not you like is music, and that is something you MUST acknowledge, ESPECIALLY if you're going to rip on his music.

your point was not clear. i didn't say anything about him as a person. frankly, i know basically nothing about him so i'll stay away from this conversation.

his music, however, would be better off destroyed.

Maybe it's because of the weed but I think Freeman makes a way more rational impression than Marley. Seeing Freeman as EJ presents no difficulties to me; Marley? That's another story.

I think we do have to keep the weed in mind. Really, it's a big part of Marley's lifestyle.

That said, I can't really make a strong case for Fe>Ni dominance out of anything other than VI similarities to Freeman, so if you think you see a good one for Ni>Fe, then I'll roll with IEI.

To me, this was made even more evident when I saw I Am Legend, and Smith's character was describing some of his principles. He thought you could physically cure racism and hatred with the power of music apparently.

IEI. Another IP character in history; we've got Pinochet and Khrushchev as SEI dictators, and Marley as an IEI musical revolutionary. What next?

    Default Bob Marley

    Bob Marley: EIE?

“ . . . What we need is love/To guide and protect us on . . . Help the weak if you are strong now . . . Lord knows, we don't need no more war (no more trouble) . . .”

“ . . . The bars could not hold me / Force could not control me now / They try to keep me down, yeah, but Jah put I around / Yes, I've been accused many times / And wrongly abused now / But through the powers of the Most High, they've got to turn me loose . . .”

    - Robert Christgau:

    http://www.robertchristgau.com/get_artist2.php?id=170

The Wailers: Catch a Fire [Island, 1972]
In the mid-60s, when these Jamaicans were also known as the Rude Boys, they covered "What's New Pussycat"; now their anguished rhythms and harmonies suggest a rough spiritual analogue to the Rolling Stones, with social realism their welcome replacement for arty cynicism. At first I distrusted this nine-cut U.S. debut--it seemed laid back and stretched out in the worst album-as-art tradition. Now I notice not only that half these songs are worthy of St. John the Divine, but that the Barrett brothers' bass and drums save those that aren't from limbo. A

    The Wailers: Burnin' [Island, 1974]
This is as perplexing as it is jubilant--sometimes gripping, sometimes slippery. It's reggae, obviously, but it's not mainstream reggae, certainly not rock or soul, maybe some kind of futuristic slow funk, War without the pseudo-jazz. What's inescapable is Bob Marley's ferocious gift for melodic propaganda. It's one thing to come up with four consecutive title hooks, another to make the titles "Get Up Stand Up," "Hallelujah Time," "I Shot the Sheriff," "Burnin' and Lootin'." A

Bob Marley & the Wailers: Natty Dread [Island, 1975]
You'd figure the loss of vocal and songwriting input from Peter Tosh and Bunny Livingston would be crippling, and reggae melodies being what they are that's the way I heard it at first. But the I-Threes pitch in like comrades rather than backup (can the Blackberries or the Sweet Inspirations claim the same?), and while the material has thinned out slightly I'm sure there are guys in Kingston who would kill for Marley's rejects. "No Woman, No Cry," a masterpiece on the order of "Trench Town Rock" or "I Shot the Sheriff," encourages him to bend and burr his sharp timbre until it's lyrical and incisive both at once. Lyrical and incisive--that's the combo. A

SEI seems to make the most sense based on the interviews (though I did initially consider the possibility that he's just a stoned EIE, but there isn't the same polished emotional control and clearly punctuated, somewhat self-possessed composure; rather, there's more of a loose, amiable openness to people and experience), though I guess some Ni-IP is possible.
