I was talking about this with MysticSonic not too long ago. I told him that Al seemed a lot more mature than Ed, and he didn't see it the same way. We got into a discussion about what maturity is, and it ended up coming down to quadra values.

Ed: ENFj (looks very immature to me)
Al: INFj <3 I wish I'd had a friend like him growing up

I think Roze is an ISFp. I'm not just saying that because she's the worst character ever. The first time I saw FMA I knew nothing of socionics, and I hated that character then, too. She reminded me of people like my sister.

I've seen that show and I think he calls him brother all the time because in Japan you would call your brother "oniichan" instead of their first name on a regular basis. I don't think its a sign of his character

Its normal for the older brother to call the younger brother by name, but the younger one says "brother" out of respect. Oniisan or Niisan is brother, Oneesan or Neesan is sister. These can used to address other children close to your own age too.

Yeah, it's not uncommon to here that in anime. It just stuck out in my mind because Al says it SO OFTEN and because "Al" sounds funny in Japanese.

What types to do you think the characters Roze and Mustang are? For some reason it feels a lot like I'm watching myself somehow when I watch Mustang. It's hard to describe.

I've only seen the show once or twice, so I only know the two kids (Al's voice stuck out in my mind ).

But yeah it is funny to hear names like Al and Ed in anime.

Is it any good? If so, maybe I should watch it.

    YES!!!

It's not my favorite anime (<3 Naruto) but imo it's the best, at least that I've seen. Very intelligently written, and it's one of the few anime series I've seen that actually ties up all of the loose plot points effectively.

screw cartoon network... it'll take forever to see it, and it may not even be in sequence, which is absolutely essential with this series.

    just download the fansub

Based on an extremely brief search, I saw no real list or discussion. A friend of mine is into this anime and I've been watching it with them lately, so, let's type.

From the previous discussions I did find, suggested types were:

    Edward: EIE
    Al: EII

I'm not sure I agree with them, but its hard for me to tell because there's a sort of NiFe slant to most animes, to me, at least.

    I can see....

    Edward: ?
    Al: IEI, EII. Ethical

Roy Mustang: Te valuing intratim ?
    Alex Louis Armstrong: ESE?

Alex Louis Armstrong (アレックス・ルイ・アームストロング, Arekkusu Rui Āmusutorongu?), the "Strong Arm Alchemist", a large and comically emotional State Alchemist, will burst into tears or joyous praise given the right situation, and embraces others in an effort to console them. Because he is an extremely strong character, this usually causes others great personal injury. Armstrong is very proud of his strength and of his muscular physique, frequently taking off his shirt so that he can flex for others' benefit. As a final element of his comedic properties, he has the tendency to "sparkle"; when first appearing in a scene or taking off his shirt, pink stars radiate from his body.ch.14 Despite his humorous tendencies, Armstrong can be very serious when the situation calls for it. He is not fond of violence and will try to end conflicts peacefully, and will break down and cry if an innocent person is killed. He is quite the golfer too.ch.29

Gluttony is probably some insane Si type.

Edward is definitely beta (but I guess most action anime have their main characters as beta). He's either ESTp or ENFj, simply because his energy level seems like that of an extratim, but I can't remember enough to type ethical or logical. I suppose ENFj fits better. He seems to have a lot of deep, dark emotions, and lack the relatively more playful side of the ESTp.
