Default Orange is the New Black series

What type do you think the characters are?

oh god i loved this show. sorry, not sure on type. the main character, Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), looks like blackburry though.

    Alex (her ex).. LII

Took me a while to get into the show but then I was hooked. Looking forward to the next season.

Piper might be IEE, but some sort of Fi ego. The actual person who wrote the book imo is IEE.

    I think Alex is LSE.

    Tasha - SLE

    Red - SLI? LSE?

    Harvey - LSI

    Pornstache - LSI

    Tiffany - EIE

I just recently saw season 1 and love it. Out of all the characters Crazy eyes would be the type to have me on guard and possibly scared. heh

I have to chime in on this. First of all, in the prison, the ladies are definitely divided into victims/aggressors, though not the socionics meaning exactly. But there are self confident, sexually aware lesbians, who go after the more feminine ones who are not sure but are down anyway. I'm figuring this into my typing, though with my own personal logic.

    Let's start with the duals:

Piper - IEI. actress doesn't look too IEI, but the character definitely is.
Alex - SLE. these two are SO duals.

Nicky - ILE, agree with you
    Morello - SEI

    Larry - LII.
Polly, mutual best friend - ESE. this became so clear after they hooked up in the second season.

    Taystee (Tasha) - IEE
Poussey - maybe SLI? I want these two to be duals so bad, but I could see Poussey as an extraverted sensing type as well.

    others~

Sophia - LSE or SEE, no objections

Suzanne - IEE, I can see that

John and Daya - ugh I hate their storyline, don't care to type. John is such a p***y.

    Red - LSI

    Pensawtucky - ILE

    staff~

    Mendez - LSE

    Healy - EIE

    Caputo - LSE

    Figueroa - LIE

The new female prison guard with the big eyes - ESI

I'm going with IEI for Piper. Se > Ne valuing and Fe > Fi.

    Lorna: SEI
    the nun: EII
    Caputo: LSE
    Figueroa: LSI

What about Soso? She doesn't annoy me like she does the characters in the show.

    Will think about other typings.

I re-watched the second season and believe I was wrong about some typings.

    Mendez is LSI

Red is ILE. Confusing because the actress has that solid ST look. But then Vee calls her a "not a fighter, but a schemer." Also explains why Mendez was her nemesis for some time.

And completely sure of my typing of Larry and Polly. If you want to see a textbook example of how infantile/caregiver couples hook up, just watch them.

I have no firm opinions on their types, but I love the show. Red and Sister Ingalls are two of my favorites characters.

Your typing of Piper as IEE is interesting because that's also what you type yourself as, whereas I'm pretty sure (i.e. IMO) both are ESI.

It wasn't because I related to her, because I don't. I can't justify those typings entirely because I only saw one episode and I don't remember much from it. It's possible.

...what is girly about it? You must have only seen like the first two episodes if that's the word you decided on to best describe this show.

okay, now that i've watched all of it, here are my typingssss (if you disagree, you are wrong):

Piper Chapman: Fi-ESI (actress is LSI i think)

    Alex Vause: Ni-EIE

    Nicki: Te-SLI

Morello: Fi-IEE (even her neurosis is typical of IEEs)

    Red: Si-LSE? Ti-ILE?

    Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren: Ne-IEE

Ms. Claudette: LSE/LIE not sure which <3 (best character in season 1)

Sophia: i'm actually not sure beyond Fi/Te

    Mr. Healy: Fi-EII

    Mendez: Se-LSI

Bennett: Te-LIE (yes this is what most LIE males are like)

Taystee: Fe-ESE? Ne-ILE? one of those two

Poussey: Ti-LSI? i actually don't know. Fe/Ti introvert. (best character in season 2, hands down)

Pennsatucky: Ti-ILE (appropriately conflictor bad-guy for the gamma heroine)

Ms. Rosa: Se-SLE <3 (Mrs. Rosa + Morello could take over the world)

    Vee: Ni-EIE (evillll subtype)

    Big Boo: Se-SEE

    Caputo: LSE? similar neurotic energy.

    Brook/Soso: annoying fucking Fi-IEE

    Daya: Si-SLI (worst character/storyline)

    Susan: SEI? EII?

    Electrical guy: Ne-ILE

Yoga Jones: Ne-IEE (there are way too many IEEs in this show and all of them are a little fucked up.)

the rest of the characters i don't really care about. Larry is possible LIE, piper's brother is possible SEI, his brother's girlfriend is possible SLE. umm so yeah.

Huh. Well, this is a far better typing for her than IEE, in any case. I can see where you're coming from here, but I would think ESIs would be a lot less likely to cheat and do some of the other fucked up things she did.

...trying to manipulate Soso to do sexual things that she didn't want to do for a blanket, as a prime example.

    Alex Vause: Ni-EIE

    Nicki: Te-SLI
I can see where you're coming from here, too.

Bennett: Te-LIE (yes this is what most LIE males are like)
LOL. If so, I can't think of any I've known irl.

Poussey: (best character in season 2, hands down)
    Yeah.

    Daya: Si-SLI
I could see Si dominance for her, but I'm not sure I buy strong Te or Te/Fi valuing.

    Larry is possible LIE
I could sorta see him as Bennet's identical a weak-ass Se sort of way.

    What about the assistant warden?

Does anybody have any other input for Mr. Healy? I like him as a character, and have on a few occasions found it hard to understand the bad rap he gets from the inmates.

Lesbians, not necessarily women in general. I can't say that I agree with that part, but I think/hope that they are attempting to develop his character into something more. There have been obvious attempts at his trying to show the good parts of himself that weren't apparent at a first glance, and he is obviously still willing to help the girls - lesbian or not. The mail-order bride was probably a coping mechanism for loneliness. I find the way his wife treats him and his attempts to make the relationship work more disturbing than anything.

Haven't seen all of season 2, but Vee is EIE and Soso is IEE.

Piper's actress is so insanely ESI that it throws my typing of her off. She's obviously a 6, though.

I like Radio's typings, and his picture-containing post is specially suitable for being quoted.

Quote Originally Posted by Radio View Post

I concur. Fi is strong in her. Her goal in life, to develop and particularize her interactions with people, which are an essential part of her nature and not a sort of "resource" in a more Fe-esque way. Even if they are damaging.

    Alex Vause: Ni-EIE
Yep. Steve Jobs in a woman's body. Dislike both the character and the actress.

    Nicki: Te-SLI
I disagree, even if I'm not sure which one is correct. She's too extroverted, social and emotionally expressive (including positive ones) when compared with an average Fe PoLR. Ep of some sort, I would say, excluding IEE.

Morello: Fi-IEE (even her neurosis is typical of IEEs)
Uhm, interesting. I had not thought beyond Fi ego. If her neurosis are typical of an IEE, this could explain one case I know IRL (although not so severe).

    Red: Si-LSE? Ti-ILE?
I love this character. I would pick up LSE; she's quite imaginative, but always in a practical way, no-nonsense so to speak. An example that LSEs can be awesome when they control their domineering trend (which is still present) and do not get obsessed with doing things by the book.

    Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren: Ne-IEE
Too damaged for being typed. Not sure.

Ms. Claudette: LSE/LIE not sure which <3 (best character in season 1)
    No idea.

Sophia: i'm actually not sure beyond Fi/Te
    Not sure. Fi-SEE?

    Mr. Healy: Fi-EII
Here I disagree. He's a softcore delta ST, but still ST. He's interested in people (due to his work, which he values even if not fulfilling), but has a Te mindset, not Fi. Probably SLI due to Fi-HA and too quiet and laissez-faire behavior for an EJ, or even IJ,

    Mendez: Se-LSI
    Totally.

Bennett: Te-LIE (yes this is what most LIE males are like)
    Will comment later.

Taystee: Fe-ESE? Ne-ILE? one of those two
    The first one. Annoying ESE.

Poussey: Ti-LSI? i actually don't know. Fe/Ti introvert. (best character in season 2, hands down)
Could be, but Se is so weak that I'm considering Ti-LII. She seems though, but has troubles confronting others beyond exposing moral judgements. Quite unable to impose her will, and has certain idealistic na´vetÚ.

Pennsatucky: Ti-ILE (appropriately conflictor bad-guy for the gamma heroine)
She has conflicted, but not necessarily is her conflictor. Easily adopted and integrated religious worldviews even when she originally was not a believer. An ILE could fake beliefs in her own benefit, but hardly would change mind due to so ridiculous reasons. Could be, but I'm more inclined to some sort of beta NF. Maybe a particularly dumb EIE.

    Ms. Rosa: Se-SLE <3
    Agree.

    Vee: Ni-EIE (evillll subtype)
Agree, but not the same ennegram as Alex. 3w4 (here) versus 7w6 (or at least 3w2).

    Big Boo: Se-SEE
    I'm more inclined towards Se-SLE.

    Caputo: LSE? similar neurotic energy.
    Could be.

    Brook/Soso: annoying fucking Fi-IEE
Extremely annoying, yes. The kind or "crazy newager" I would punch in her face.

But I think Ne-IEE could fit better. Quite energetic (enhaced Pe temperament) and more focused in her particular ideas, whatever they could be, than in her interactions.

    Daya: Si-SLI (worst character/storyline)
    Dont you like your [semi]dual?

    Agree Si-SxI.

    Susan: SEI? EII?
A bit more stiff and higher sense of duty than the average SEI. EII imo. A particularly likeable one.

    Electrical guy: Ne-ILE
    Yep.

Yoga Jones: Ne-IEE (there are way too many IEEs in this show and all of them are a little fucked up.)
LOL. Yes, Ne-IEE. Although not so annoying as Soso.

the rest of the characters i don't really care about. Larry is possible LIE, piper's brother is possible SEI, his brother's girlfriend is possible SLE. umm so yeah.

About Larry and Bennet, I'm a bit surprised about LIE typings. Both seemed LII to me, bennet more Ij-ish and Larry more Ep-ish, or even ILE. They do not fit in my "mental image" of LIEs (which would be closer to Figueroa).

But it is true LIE is probably the type I have had more troubles upgrading from the MBTI times (or one of them). LIEs seem to be softened ENTJs (talking about archetypal description), less Se and less J. No few MBTI ENTJs are probably SLEs, LSIs, or LSEs.

I have never considered LIE for myself because I do not think I'm "worthy" (assertive enough), even if I could be sometimes domineering (much more than average Ne PoLRs) and I have certain "Se-HA desires" . But if they are actually LIEs, who knows...

Could you offer to me a real life example of an non assertive (like these characters) but clear cut LIE?

    mmm this guy maybe:

similar energy / also almost universally typed as LIE (if i'm not wrong). i'm not sure if he's really as non-assertive, though.

I pretty much agree with all of Radio's typings.

Piper Chapman: ESI (also mega E6)
    Alex Vause: Ni-EIE
    Nicki: Te-SLI
Morello: Fi-IEE seems to work, possibly E4
    Red: LSE
Suzanne Warren: ILE… or maybe SLE, but only b/c she reminds me of a female ODB
    Ms. Claudette: IXXj?
    Sophia: EXXx
    Mr. Healy: EII
    Mendez: Se-LSI
    Bennett: Te-LIE
    Poussey: Fi/Te something
    Pennsatucky: Ti-ILE
    Ms. Rosa: Se-SLE
    Vee: Ni-EIE
    Big Boo: SEE/SLE
    Joe Caputo: δ-ST?
    Brook/Soso: Fi-IEE
    Susan Fischer: Si-SEI
    Joel Luschek: Ne-ILE
    Yoga Jones: Ne-IEE
    Natalie Figueroa: IEI?
    Larry Bloom: LIE?
    Howard Bloom: LSE
    Polly Harper: LSI?

Ah, that guy. I remember him from the video about 3D-printing guns. I agree he's LIE, but I think he's still assertive (7w8 or 8). But he seems to be quite well balanced, therefore it's not so evident as in other cases. I was looking for something more in the line of an E6 LIE, which is the kind of LIE that Bennet could be if he's one.

    Thanks anyway.

Interesting. Now that you mention this option, it's true she has quite similarities with Daenerys Targaryen, who is mostly typed as IEI (and I agree).

    ...
    Bennett: Te-LIE
    ...
    Larry Bloom: LIE?
    ...
I will have to rethink my previous position of not considering LIE as a potential typing. I have no few similarities with the first one IRL, and when I'm in a friendly environment I tend to behave close to the second one (although more cynical).

    Piper I though ESI
Alex EIE/SLE sort of see both
    Crazy eyes IEE Ne
    Red LSE
    Yoga Lady IEE
    Workshop dude SLI
Ex druggie emotional go to lady SLI
    Italian stalker lady IEE Fi
    Tasty SEE

Now this is a story all about how, my type got changed, turned upside down. Just wait for a minute and watch chatbox right there, & I'll tell how Gem became the moderator with blue hair.

In typology central friended and praised, on the picture thread was where she spent most her days. Chilling out, selfies, relaxing all cool, And all typing some people and getting them schooled.

When a couple of girls who were up to no good, Started annoying her & her friends in the forumhood, She got in one little flame war & got pissed off & said 'I'm moving in with that exboyfriend in the forum with the socionics toffs.

So Gem pulls up to the forum for a year without being a hater, And yells to typocentral 'Yo creeps! Smell Ya later', Became a mod in her kingdom she was finally there, To sit on her throne as the mod with blue hair.

I don't get where so many people are getting ESI for Piper... She seemed infantile EII to me.. Anyone care to point out few examples of why Se> Ne... And why Ne PoLr over Se PoLr? Muchos gracias.

(I also thought actress was LSI from interviews... Seemed to dig Fe)

Haven't caught any of season two ....

Lol... Piper makes someone masterbate for a blanket..?

It is true her Se seems a bit subdued. Not intimidating, agressive or too domineering, but the overall character behaves as a whole closer to ESI than EII (most people have in mind Fi-sub when they're typing her).

Being the constant victim of her EIE girlfriend machinations makes her to look a bit na´ve, but this is not close to the Se PoLR kind of idealizations (detachment from present-time and sensory reality). If you compare the "strongest EII" (~E1) with a soft ESI variant, you cant still observe that the EII mind usually orbits around a certain ideal, abstract concept or non tangible purpose in life, whereas the ESI does not. She lives pretty much for interacting with people here and now, so to speak. And even if she's not an Se master, she has still enjoyed being a sort of dominating woman when she has been able to and definitely is not conflict avoidant. Two aspects much more uncommon in EIIs (specially the first one).

Her sexuality (kind of sexuality, not amount of sexuality) seems also closer to Se valuer. Although this is a weaker indicator.

By the way, the correct way of saying "thank you" in Spanish is "muchas gracias", with an a. Sorry for correcting you, but as my mother tongue is not usual here, I felt as I had to point this.

just getting into season 2... some relevant typings

    piper: Se-ESI 6w7 sx
    alex: Ni-EIE 3w4 sx/sp
nicki: Te-ILI (considered Se-LSI as well but she doesn't seem rational, some EP may be another option, but I really don't see where people are getting delta from)
    morello: Fi-IEE, maybe 3w2
    crazy eyes: Ne-IxE
    ms. claudette: Fi-ESI 1w9 sp
red: Si-LSE 8w9... a good example of an aristocratic EJ holding things down without being overly imposing
    mendez: LSI 6w7... and lol
bennet: Te-sub gamma NT, leaning extroverted
    taystee: Fe-ESE... mildly annoying
daya: Xi-sub delta irrational, and boring
    mr. healy: Ne-EII, probably 9w1 sx-last
poussey: Se-LSI... a good example of Se in the context of prison
pennsatucky: Ti-sub xLE, leaning democratic because of her levity and absurdity but unsure
larry: Fi-IEE, off chance of SEI but I don't see much Fe
boo: Se-SxE, leaning gamma because of her more offhand and somewhat indifferent style, probably a 7
sophia: Fi-SEE 3w2, off chance of ESI but I don't really see rational
    caputo: Te-sub delta ST
    yoga lady: Ne-IEE, probably a 9
    electrical guy: Xe-sub alpha irrational
    natalie figuero: maybe LIE
    4w3-5w6-8w7
