edit: well, 10-40EZ is free, so I guess I don't really pay them. Still...

i tell everybody about this. if you make less than $57,000 a year and you are paying to have your taxes done STOP IT.

I guess it's kind more deceiving in Finland since the taxes are already taken when you get your paycheck. It breeds more discontent if you have to give some of it back afterwards.

i don't know exactly how it works but when you file each year you can get either an amount you owe or a refund on what you've overpaid based on what was already taken out of your paycheck. tax season is like christmas for people in my bracket.

I do my own taxes by hand. There's also free software in Canada that does it all for you in like 10 minutes; you can upload the completed taxes to the government's website without even needing to provide the supporting documentation.
