    Default Intelligence: talent and giftedness

Intelligence level is perhaps the most overlooked aspect of all relationships. Maybe it is because intelligence is so difficult to measure. One thing is clear to me though: different intelligence levels are like different planes of reality.

The mind is capable of perceiving many things at once, mostly subconsciously. However, for practical reasons, it restricts the amount of information that can be processed to avoid saturation. It is my opinion that both talent and giftedness are mutations that alter the normal threshold of perception, just pulling in different directions.

Talent is the result of the restriction of information that can be handled at once. It allows a person to focus more intensely on a problem without distractions, which results in a better performance in tasks that do not require switching ways of thinking too often. Composers who know a lot of music but don't know much about anything else are a good example.

Giftedness, on the contrary, increases the information available at once. This allows a person to see the same as others but to notice details others overlook. Also, this heightened awareness permits the gifted to see connections that are broader than other people. A consequence of this is a reduced productivity because the gifted individual has many more connections to make and thus it takes more time to finish a thought.

In short terms, talented individual focus more on judging functions. Gifted individuals are more focused on perceiving ones. I do not have clear how this is different from an average person but I'd like to hear your opinions on this.

Hmmm, interesting. I wonder if you are funnelling this into the socio function dichotomies.

I do agree in part. Judging is much more able to be hyper focussed, this can be obsessive which can yield fantastic harvests for specific areas of focus. We can see this is things like Maths Genius in individuals with Asburgers ... where the focus becomes so absolute that all other things are seemingly uniportant by comparrison. I think it would be a dangerous conclusion to say that all people with Asburgers or all Maths Genius are Judging types though... because we do all use all of the functions. But yes we may channel certain information via particular functions and those will of course be more prevalent in types which use judging as a lead function. But it does then depend on so many more factors.

I wonder now... weather we can attribute judging (in rough) to someone who is a Genius with a very low expectation to them being a perceiving type. I wonder this because i have often thought that people who are absolute hawks at a specific field often do terribly in many fields. I may be confusing this. I have often heard ENFP/IEE describe themselves as 'jack of all trades, master of none' but even the IEE will have areas of relative strength over others. Preference for individual areas may come into play for this. So areas with much flexibility and room for manoever may have more Perceiving leading types at the forefront.

Now this is a story all about how, my type got changed, turned upside down. Just wait for a minute and watch chatbox right there, & I'll tell how Gem became the moderator with blue hair.

In typology central friended and praised, on the picture thread was where she spent most her days. Chilling out, selfies, relaxing all cool, And all typing some people and getting them schooled.

When a couple of girls who were up to no good, Started annoying her & her friends in the forumhood, She got in one little flame war & got pissed off & said 'I'm moving in with that exboyfriend in the forum with the socionics toffs.

So Gem pulls up to the forum for a year without being a hater, And yells to typocentral 'Yo creeps! Smell Ya later', Became a mod in her kingdom she was finally there, To sit on her throne as the mod with blue hair.

Watch out what you call phrenology, juggernaut.

Besides, intelligence is amongst one of the heritable traits, something that mikemex has not been taught in kindergarten, same goes for height. So I take his parents are I.Q midgets (if beta - doesn't surprise me). And yes, mikemex, attempts have been made to measure intelligence (in early 1900s already), but it seems you've been too busy being stupid and pulling crap out of the blue, which is your mind.

Seems more like expanding possibilities (Ne) V. limiting possibilities (Ni). He just labeled them giftedness and talent respectively rather than Ne and Ni.

And then how do you explain someone like Napoleon (SLE) or Edison (LSE)? Neither was particularly good at intuition.

Another one. I actually thought you're ILE at first. Feel free to divorce yourself with reality though, providing that is even possible. I mean, way to dismiss everything I wrote, if that makes you more acknowledging if that is even called so in your U.S. language.

Socionic intuition or colloquial intuition? Socionicly; they valued one or the other. Colloquially; I've not read enough about either to comment on their instincts or 'gut reactions'.

EDIT: Also which one are you citing as gifted and which is talented? Perhaps some examples of individuals you would label as gifted and individuals you would label as talented would clear up the distinction you're making for me.

So that's your mental masturbation to explain that you're not that great at something specific, mikemex?

Both dichotomies of Ne vs Ni and SeTi vs TeSi could fit within Pe vs Pi and Pe vs Je, +- and expanding and contracting etc. Oh and btw we all masturbate. If your so good at getting mental things preggers FDG go ahead.
