Yes, i could survive. I've actually gone without internet for lengthy times. It is easier to do, however, when I am by myself, even though I felt lonely each time. I also get a lot more done during that time period, heh.

Yes. I did it for 7 days a few months back and didn't really have a problem with it.

Give me a good enough reason and I'll kill a man, never mind surviving 7 days without internet.. for a reason.

Yes, I've gone several months without it (and survived).

The initial withdrawal stage is harsh; first you start building little cardboard replicas of your computer and shading in little icons only to sit and blankly stare at them in bewilderment, and unwittingly grabbing any object on a table and attempt to move it around like a mouse, causing your internet-free friends to look at you with concern and call you up late in the evenings to save you from a relapse, but - it passes.

So long as people with whom I can physically interact and enjoy time spent with can still exist, absolutely.

I'm awfully confused as to why this seems to be a hard thing for people to consider. Either a good majority of people have some sort of soft addiction to it or have never been camping. Being without the internet just forces you to turn to other people for your interactions, or to libraries for your sources of learning, or movie theaters for cats wearing lime-green tuxedos. It would be the same as if Walmart were to suddenly collapse: if you're in dire need for pool noodles, frozen chicken nuggets, and a four-pack of inflatable girlfriend pillows, you'd just end up having to visit three different stores instead of one. Sure it'd be less convenient, but the resources are all still there. They're all just less consolidated than before.

I love not having the internet. When I go someplace remote that doesn't have internet I'm happy as a clam. It's so nice to have to ponder things you're wondering about rather than running right off to google and getting the easy answers. Not using the internet makes me feel smarter and more engaged in what I'm learning about.

I would never use it as much as I do if I didn't have to for school.

So, this is where every one responds positively and does the exact opposite, okay.

I use Internet when I need it.

    Makes things easier.

Ignoring the horrifying prospect of needing go to Uni lectures rather than listen online, I still probably wouldn't be able to make it. But, actually, there is so much Uni-related information and handouts dispersed via the internet, and I lots of news which is really only spread around via the internet. I reckon I would feel so out of the loop without it because I simply can't access my principle means of contact. Also, I would be pretty bored without stuff like Wikipedia or blogs.

I once tried to go a month without Facebook, but I ended up dedicating more of my time to things like Twitter and Tumblr, so I'm not sure if that really was in the spirit of my plan. But I reckon something similar would happen: rather than using Facebook to remain in contact I would begin texting and calling everyone about everything. But it would probably take longer than a week for me to adjust to that.

Facebook is quite social stuff - no offence to any one who uses it. I did upon a request from some person (thanks), but I deleted it. I just don't find anything pulling me in that direction in particular. I don't use Twitter either.

I'm sure you some of you would be better off meeting me, than posting on my wall, on facebook...

It's like people talking all kinds of stuff and me wondering "what am I "doing" here?"

    Conflict of interests it seems.

I think question is completely biased. Surviving without Internet 3+ years would be better of a question.

No, I could not do it today. In the past, yes, but there are just too many things I depend on the Internet for lately. Banking, bill pay, shopping, entertainment, communication, the list goes on. It just could not be done. I'm "plugged in" as it were.

of course i could survive, but it would be difficult to keep away, I am an internet addict. as far as life stuff goes, i don't use the internet or phones or whatever for any of that, so it's not like i'd be cutting myself off from anything besides entertainment and where i spend most of my day.

I've done it for a few weeks at a time whilst living alone with no TV/mobile phone - was great. I prefer it, just need it for studying and sometimes work email... then of course my usage snowballs simply because it's available. I refuse to internet bank and all of that vajazzle though. Paper and flesh ftw.

Well, without internet I assume I'd be a more productive person, but I'd lose touch with or not know you guys, so I can't say I'd be happier.

I've done it before, so yes I can go without it for 1 week though it's kind of not possible now because I'm at University and everything is online nowadays. However, when I'm done school I'll probably give it another shot. I find myself watching television to compensate when I abstain from the internet and that's just switching from one poison to another so in that sense it can be detrimental unless you use the new spare time constructively with a meaningful habit.

I also wouldn't want to become annoying because I constantly want to call up people, or ask them what they've been and doing, or be always out of the loop because I've decided not to use the internet. I'd be such a novelty in my social circle and it would probably inconvenience lots of people. Even living at college and having so many friends there, the real-world community also has a bit of a online presence too in the way of Facebook.

anyone can technically live without the internet....

though personally i wouldn't want to, because to go without internet means i'd have to drop out of school, cease communication with various people, etc

Well I need it for my job and if I didn't have a job I'd be poor and if i were poor I'd live on the streets and if I lived on the streets I'd probably want to kill myself. So, no. I honestly don't know how i'd function...it would take a lot of hard work. I mean...you wouldn't even be able to check your bank account statement or look up a place on a map. I mean you could, but it would take years and omg what did they do back in those days? Life must've been super boring.

I'm not sure I could survive 1 week without posting fake science of @Vois wall.

Infact, I've died 3 times already because I've delivered late.
