Default Our favorite smells - what's yours?

    i like the smell of...

sean's underarms after he gets done playing frisbee
    fresh rain
    nice stuff baking
    vanilla & cinnamon
the bitter defeat of my enemies when they realize I was right and they were wrong (okay I admit this is very 'rubbing it in' but I'm not a perfect person...)

perfume wise i like vanilla, patchouli, lavender, musk.
    old spice on men.
    i don't think i've ever smelled an incense i didn't like.

smells i like only if they're real & not synthetic: rain, lilac.

    old books.

marijuana (even though i don't smoke it).

    bleach & cleaning supplies.

    coffee.

face makeup/foundation (my mom smelled really heavily of it when i was a kid).

    i'm leaving things out.

For some reason I'm crazy about the smell of water/rain on hot pavement. They should bottle that shit.

I also like Mr. Bubble, raw coca butter, and white dove soap.

Now this is a story all about how, my type got changed, turned upside down. Just wait for a minute and watch chatbox right there, & I'll tell how Gem became the moderator with blue hair.

In typology central friended and praised, on the picture thread was where she spent most her days. Chilling out, selfies, relaxing all cool, And all typing some people and getting them schooled.

When a couple of girls who were up to no good, Started annoying her & her friends in the forumhood, She got in one little flame war & got pissed off & said 'I'm moving in with that exboyfriend in the forum with the socionics toffs.

So Gem pulls up to the forum for a year without being a hater, And yells to typocentral 'Yo creeps! Smell Ya later', Became a mod in her kingdom she was finally there, To sit on her throne as the mod with blue hair.

I love the smell after it rains, and the smell i associate with fresh water (not tap).
I love the smell of fresh ground coffee beans.
I love the smell of ripe strawberries in my garden!! (But i think that has to do with anticipation of juicy fresh strawberries more than the smell itself, lol.)

I kinda like the smell of baby powder, but not with a baby attached....nor the powder.
I kinda like the smell of fresh lavendar. I'm not much of a flower smell kind of person, and I was surprised when i first smelled a lavendar plant which was given to me.

And I love the natural smell of my bf...when he's not all sweaty, that is.

(Edited to add: i don't generally like smells, even ones other people consider good. But i also have chronic sinus congestion, so that may influence my orientation against most smells.)

You know how certain people just smell amazing? Like not even cologne or soap or anything, but just their scent? That. But i have to be attracted to them. I like when you're cuddling and you just plant your face in their chest and it's just like AHHH. Or when they leave a peice of clothing behind and you smell their scent and feel all warm and happy inside. So i guess.. man sweat?

    dirt.
I love the smell of dirt.

    and old, dirty garages/sheds.

    grass.

    matches.

the air before a storm, the air after a storm.

    greenhouses.

    oysters.

    sunscreen. (in small doses).

perfume I wear: Yves st. Laurent, Cinema- it's a musky vanillaish smell that reminds me of a French film in the 1940s.

i hate the smell of cardboard. i hate the feel of cardboard. i hate everything about cardboard.

My sense of smell is usually acute. Things that smell good, smell really, really good, things that smell bad make me queasy.

    Some things I like:

Perfumes: Opium, Gucci by Gucci, Paris, Obsession (but on on some people, not myself) sometimes a mix of chocolate and champagne but it is hard to find a good one. I like spicy scents, sandalwood. I remember liking Cool Water once. I stick to perfumes that remind me of people I was close to. My sister wears Design and I don't like that at all.

Flowers: jasmine, honeysuckle, gardenia, rose, lavender. Trees, like pine, cedar, orange blossom, evergreen, magnolia, sweet olive, eucalyptus.

Resin: dragon's blood, frankincense, myrrh, amber, white copal

Spices: cinnamon, cloves, sweet basil, oregano, vanilla, licorice

I like the smell of freshly showered people and hair (especially washed twice and completely dry, so I can smell their head), rain, fresh cut grass, a house when cleaned with some lemon, pine or flowery scented cleaner, fingernail polish, lighter fluid, gasoline. I light scented candles and incense every day but I am very picky when it comes to the scent and quality. Cheap candles/oil/incense make me feel sick and burn my eyes.

I love the way I smell.

    phenethyl alcohol
certain smells from books. There's the new smell and the nostalgic smell.
random smells of the different seasons
the smell of the air after it rains
I love the subtle smell of body odor, nothing too pungent, especially healthy vaginal odors(from the few I've smelled)
smell of freshly mowed grass and cut lumber
    coffee
    babies smell nice
    smell of wood burning
    vineyards

Important to note! People who share "indentical" socionics TIMs won't necessarily appear to be very similar, since they have have different backgrounds, experiences, capabilities, genetics, as well as different types in other typological systems (enneagram, instinctual variants, etc.) all of which also have a sway on compatibility and identification. Thus, Socionics type "identicals" won't necessarily be identical i.e. highly similar to each other, and not all people of "dual" types will seem interesting, attractive and appealing to each other.

My wife's like that. She has to smell me in the morning. When we were younger and spent more time apart she would wear my t-shirts and sometimes sleep with them.

I am easily bothered or distracted by smells...
I detect lavender, coffee, chocolate, tobacco or marijuana smell immediately for example

    I like the smell of:

    • apple and cinammon freshly baked pie
    • water like before or after rain or sea/ocean
    • forest and nature in general, I get crazy about lilac, lily of the valley...
    • fresh fruits
    • fresh linen
    • matches when they burn....

I also got quite interested in olfactology related to perfumes a couple of years ago.
I've got about 50 differents scents and play the game of recognizing what people wear

My husband after he bathes and we snuggle. A baby, snuggling a dear baby.

Springtime smells - after the thaw, the freshness, The scent of a giant Lily of the Valley patch in the woods in spring. The scent of a running brook in the woods, and the scent of pines in the woods. And yes, that early summertime Honeysuckle in the air. Fall - the scent of leaves, and winter, the cold freshness in the air after snow.

The scent of roses and the scent of Gardenia. Fresh cut cedar. Oil paints in the studio. A kitchen full of fresh fruit being canned. Homemade tomato sauce simmering on the stove.

A campfire. Cinnamon and ginger. Coffee. A roast in the oven. Fresh fruit being cut. Bread baking. German Chocolate cake baking.

similar to a couple other people here, my sense of smell is very sensitive, and i'm very picky about smells. Even if something is supposed to smell "good" if it's like too artificial or something like that, i can't stand it.

Some of the smells i just love:
    cardamom
    garlic
coconut (but ONLY natural, not the fake kind)
    cinnamon
    apple cider
    flowers
various herbs cooking (and no i don't mean pot -- pot smells disgusting)
edit: COFFEE!! i forgot coffee! (i like the smell better than the taste usually)

I always liked it, but I think what makes it a favorite smell is memories of being a deadhead.
