Default How the Human Face Might Look in 100,000 Years

    Lol.

Any thoughts on whether this is a possibility or just total nonsense?

What's with the big eyes? I doubt humans will focus development on seeing in the dark or w/e the eyes are for, takes up too much brain power. Hmmm.

Edit: Oh, from cosmic radiation, big assumption.

With larger heads comes more weight distributed differently, requiring a larger, probably shorter neck, especially to balance any top heaviness.

Humans will likely also have numerous genetic mutations due to dna changes occuring from solely eating dna altered foods.

NobleFool mentioned some very interesting points!

Something else to take note of when considering this article: neoteny is on the rise! Physical attractiveness gives you a leg-up in the game of sexual selection, and in general we ("we") exhibit a preference for neotenous features. This isn't a very new trend, either - human beings possess quite a few features of foetal primates. The preference for neotenous characteristics and how that might have led to the emergence of a new and more evolved species traces back to way back when. It may be simplistic but it wouldn't be outrageous to assume that this trend would continue.

Fascinating to consider, but nonsense. Even predictions for 1 year aren't fulfilled, how did they go predicting something for 100,000 years?

Only one comment: EVOLUTION doesn't work that way

There is no true end purpose pre-defined by evolution. It's basically what occurs as a result of survival and mating that determines what is selected, its not determined based off of some predefined pathway. Evolution isn't striving after a target, and if it is that target already exists within the seeds of the past as a projected future. In other words my personal concept of progress is defined in part by my own personality and experiences which make up my recent living past and the genetic past of my ancestors that give me the ability to project a vision of what I consider to be the "better future" I see for myself and the world. My attempts to create that will constantly be put into check by others. This in turn will create a new layer onto my past experiences and may alter my view on thing but ultimately my contributions socially to the culture and literally to my offspring is what survives to the next layer of evolution. Take this process and consider a single life something as thin as a hairline and try to imagine something as tall as the largest skyscraper and then you'll get an idea of how evolution works.

It's hard for us in the present to project accurately what the future will look like because there are so many changes that would occur, who is to say that as people start getting big eyes and look more like aliens other humans won't shun those in place of others?

This article narrowly assumes that the snapshot of our society currently is going to be the same environment for humans for hundreds of thousands of years and that environment will wholly shape our physical evolution. It's not factoring for multiple branches of future circumstances, splitting, population density, and mating.

It's really only one snapshot of what may occur. To be accurate you would have to consider thousands of circumstances and how those each would uniquely effect the course of evolution. The author has probably select a single branch to make a point whether he realizes it or not.

To me I kind of read into it some kind of cynical, we'll all become robot/aliens addicted to technology and move away from our animal roots message into what they are saying. It's such a message of our time based on rapid technological advancements and how common it is for modern people to spend time in offices/schools and on computers and being estranged from nature and their bodies.
