Thread: Comfort zone

    Default Comfort zone

This thread is for sharing experiences with the comfort zone and discussing the spectrum of its development

The comfort zone is a behavioural state within which a person operates in an anxiety-neutral condition, using a limited set of behaviours to deliver a steady level of performance, usually without a sense of risk (White 2009).[1] A person's personality can be described by his or her comfort zones. Highly successful persons may routinely step outside their comfort zones, to accomplish what they wish. A comfort zone is a type of mental conditioning that causes a person to create and operate mental boundaries. Such boundaries create an unfounded sense of security. Like inertia, a person who has established a comfort zone in a particular axis of his or her life, will tend to stay within that zone without stepping outside of it. To step outside their comfort zone, a person must experiment with new and different behaviours, and then experience the new and different responses that occur within their environment.

Good thing I have a junk email now, for things like this.

Total Comfort Zone Score = 51/100
Professional Comfort Zone Score : 49.8/100
Adrenaline Comfort Zone Score : 35/100
Lifestyle Comfort Zone Score : 74.6/100

Most of the adrenaline stuff was uninteresting to me except for scubadiving and hang gliding related activities. Ultimately I intend to swim w the Atlantic Manta Rays at least once in this life. I've already begun prepping for that by overcoming my irrational fear of water on my face. The rest has to wait until my daughter is stable living on her own so that she's less effected by any possible negative consequences.

Most of the professional stuff I either had already done, or am, again, waiting until my daughter is on her own, but in this case, it's because she's a stressor and a distractor from what I want to do. So instead of feeling like I am having to fight with her to do what I want to do, I'll just wait a couple more years for that to not even be an issue.

Adrenaline comfort zone would probably be higher if they made any mention anywhere about roller coasters.

I protest! I love adrenaline...I just love my adrenaline with some steering ability, like with paragliding, cycling, or 4 hours of weightlifting.

Eh, no, I'm not going skydiving or paragliding EVER, lol. Base jumping seems very very very interesting tho, but terribly dangerous.

I think the lifestyle thing is also US-centered, where it's kind of harder to move to another country for a job.

Luckily I learned foreign langueges, climbed a mountain and had some public speaking else way it would look bad. Very bad

Can't take the test serious if it's worth to start you own business depends a lot of the field where you work. So a generalist who has is own praxis outperforms a specialist who works in Hospital
