Default INFP + ESTJ Good times!

I just made my guy take one of the tests last night (he was reluctant) and have been wondering how we have stayed together so long after seeing the results. Actually, no. We are perfect together except when we drive each other crazy. Any other opposites out there? That have stayed together (mostly) for years?

Hello all, yes, I am up late and better get to bed before I have to get up.

I think there are interesting, fun and useful things that can come out of all relationships. So it is worth trying if you like each other. Just try to avoid doing things together where there is potential to piss each other off. Make sure to maximize the things you enjoy doing together. It helps if you share the same spiritual, political values, etc. If you have kids, try to get on the same page about how you handle their issues, because raising kids brings plenty of opportunity to disagree. Socionics can help you understand the reason you are having trouble communicating or working together, but how you choose to behave is up to you. If you decide the relationship is worth it, then go forward with it and know that some relationships are going to require more work and more forgiveness.

I have fun with ESTp; I would rather be taken care of by ESTj.

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

I seriously wondered if this thread title would lead to porn for a few seconds. There was a thread some significant time back from an INTp x ESFj couple, might be an interesting read for you.

Online tests are a decent way to start finding out your type, but they should never be taken at face value.

Default We started dating in 1989, so I'm hoping it will work out with my boyfriend

    We definitely like each other.
Iris that is good advice. (Still trying to figure out the arguing thing 20+ years later). But avoiding situations where we could piss each other off? We live together! Just kidding, it probably is more me than him (he tells me) but actually is more him than me, he just doesn't see that. That sentence doesn't make sense, which is perfect for our kind of debate. We are exact in beliefs on raising our kids, politics, rational thinking, green world, but disagree when I am doing things he doesn't get then I get mad at him for not getting it. Of course it's worth it, and we are better now than ten years ago by far. Thanks for answering -- I realized on reading your message it sounded like a new boyfriend maybe? Yes, actually he is my boyfriend, sigh, but also husband for a long time.

According to the sacred laws of Socionics, this is impossible and one of you must be mistyped.

Heh! Um, no I don't think I will write on that topic, though definitely will visit the other.
Can't write anything to risque --(not that I would anyway, as if) --I keep changing my name and site, but people I know (strangest one was a friend of the family I hadn't seen since I was maybe ten) seem to randomly stumble upon an article or something, recognize trouble and then pass on the link to the family jungle grapevine. Internet grapevine. Speed of light.

Thank you for the reading suggestion and will check it out.

PS: Message to my in-laws and great aunties: if you have already somehow stumbled upon or been sent this link -- I did not write that thread (mentioned above by GuavaDrunk) about your sweet (oh yes) son so just continue reading this one. I will keep it clean, you know me.

Well of course it's possible. What were you talking about though exactly, before I go on?

(I did go on quite a bit, but luckily for you deleted all the frim fram about our night: moving house for a friend who seems to have built a cartoon lighthouse in the middle of a suburb tract, love it, debating gravity, why we love cold fusion, and visiting "The Slaughtered Lamb" ahh, small towns.

I was just saying that in jest. I stated that because you seemed confident on the fact that your boyfriend was that type when it's evident that online tests are proven to be unreliable and are likely hit or miss. I recommend if you want to be more clear on his type that you either analyze him in greater detail before making a conclusion on his type or present him with type descriptions to read until he finds one that he feels fits himself accurately. Of course, there is always the possibility that you two are actually conflictors as they can be highly attracted to each other superficially in the short term and it's only until the long term that problems start to arise.
