Default I just adopted a mentally ill cat!

(I guess this is for infomational purposes, "emotivist" personality here...) but I just adopted a mentally ill cat. He was abandoned at six weeks, then adopted by some crazy cat lady, who needed to get rid of him because he kept fighting all her other cats. I took him home, and the cat quickly went into hiding. I has been 24 hours now, and I only found him twice. He is still hiding and will not come out for food!

    Crazy kitty.

I have searched everywhere and he cannot be found!

Check in the boxspring of your bed and the couch.
And I would hide my face in you and you would hide your face in me, and nobody would ever see us any more.

You mean he could be inside the lower mattress?

I think your cat is homosexual and just didn't check yet whether you are, that's why it is hiding.

I don't know, out of fear of persecution, I think.

Abused cats make the worst pets ever. My parents have adopted a few and one of them was so bad that it had to be sent back to its previous owner.

Yeah. In my experience, cats like to crawl up in the hollow areas in the construction of mattresses.

Cats can find really small openings in cabinets and behind fixtures. I know a cat who crawled behind a plumbing fixture, found an opening in the baseboard and was heard walking around in a ceiling.

You have no idea how many hiding spots your house has until you adopt a scared cat. Hint: It's a fucking lot.

That's pretty typical of neurotic cats in an unfamiliar place. There really isn't any point in going to look for him. Bothering them at this stage seem to lengthen the process. Just ignore him and he'll come out whenever he is ready to stop being a bitch.

Next time you get a new cat, leave it in its plastic bag and let that float in the tank for an hour so it is able to acclimate itself properly.

When I first got my kitten she went into hiding and I couldn't find her for hours. She was behind the fridge the whole time. One time I couldn't find her and when I opened the fridge, she was sitting inside, no clue how she got in there. I'd recommend giving it time, it's most likely terrified. Scared cats require lots and lots of patience.
