The only major difference between these new composites and the old ones seem to be consistency in lighting and background. It makes a big improvement though, allows for clearer definition.
I already did both of these, so I might as well post them here for a comparison.

Ashton's newer pic looks almost exactly like mine. We did not choose exactly the same faces or the same number of people, but it's still very apparent.

True. To me, yours looks a bit less "balanced" to me (mostly because of the jaw I think) but it does also convey a different personality. If I had to describe it, I'd say my composite looks more likeable and trustworthy.
The slightly darker skin tone comes from a tanned blonde iirc.

These faces are based on average values which naturally kills most of the personality.
Let's take an extreme exaple. Imagine that you liked two kind of features in faces. Both of those are extremes at one end (say, a jew nose and a cute small nose curving slightly inward) so that they exclude one another. This test would give me a straight nosed face which is neither of the extremes but an average.
The average human face of group x is almost always pretty. You can select all the faces of the same ethnicity and gender it'll likely become pretty. But plain.
When I see really beautiful people, they usually have something that (sometims even defyingly) deviates from the average human face.

In my experience, the difference of just one face in a set so small can produce subtle yet unconsciously noticeable differences in expression.
In comparing the two of yours, I find that yours has a smaller head overall compared to the face size, and this makes it seem a bit tighter and perhaps more rigid. Many features seem pulled more tightly around the head, although this could be more indicative of the overall body type. The eyes are a bit narrower as well, less pronounced roundness of the eyelids and more evenly curved overall. Pa3s's face overall seems to have less physical depth than yours, like the features would be more flat tha yours if viewed in profile. His eyes also are a bit closer together than yours and further from the face overall along the Z axis. But more importantly have a bit more roundedness to them, and have greater curves and angles on the outside halves than the inside ones. This latter part gives Pa3s a greater openness to it, whereas the evenness and relative flatness of your girl's eyelids gives it a bit higher emotional stability.

That was the nicer-looking of the last two. The other one seemed perhaps a bit mean in a way that comes from being admired too much.
It's interesting that you note your composite's similarity to Ashton's and mine. Imo, I think my composite and Ashton's composite are on two different ends of the spectrum with mine being on the likeable and trustworthy end and yours is somewhere in the middle.
