Default Radio Presents: Quadra Music (Thru The Ages)

    *One album per artist/band.
*Major blind-spot from 70's to mid-80's. Seriously, not my favourite era.
*No metal, hip-hop or punk because I'm not well-versed in any of those genres.
*Chose exclusively critically acclaimed albums to reduce the amount of ensuing butthurt.
    *NOT EXHAUSTIVE.

This is not finished and I don't intend on ever finishing it. My initial project was to have 25 albums for each quadra with pictures and shit but it took way more effort than I predicted and now I'm sick of it.

I would love it if someone expands on this, and adds more stuff (i.e. bands, albums, songs, w/e) or even provides constructive criticism/comments because that's always cool. I'm pretty sure I missed plenty of bands that others are more familiar with. Feel free to disagree with anything (or everything).

I purposely made use of what quadra stereotype I had in my mind and this is just my impression for each quadra in terms of musicians and pictures and whatever.

omg really? is David Bowie really SLE? I never heard that before and for some reason I was thinking he's ESI but the weird thing is that I have been in love with him FOREVER. I own all the biographies of him and tapes of all his albums. (tapes, yes, cassette tapes, I'm that old)

Also, I never really understood what people saw in Elvis? Never cared for him. (okay, granted, I wasn't alive in the 50s or 60s but still)

By these lists, I'm alpha/beta all the way.

I'd like to think that I could pick up my guitar right now and thoughtlessly churn out 10 songs better than any of the Delta folk shit posted here (except CCR. They're cool).

    That's my contribution.

I think you'll find I posted one person with a beard, and I didn't even type him Delta. Try again.

No I don't. Music is just my therapy. What I perform isn't the point. It's what I like. And I'm just looking for something that slightly resonates. In this thread and others, you guys keep posting music I've laughed at since I was a kid.

Oh, and I haven't even mentioned Disney yet. Delta is either rednecks or kid's shows it seems.

Well dude, saying you could do better than the artists posted here without much effort and not showing anything of it is a bit weak. If you don't want to share it, fine, but don't make such claims then.

LA Roux is Alpha (ENTp 6w7) and I do not believe David Bowie to be Beta. Believe it or not, I believe he is Delta. I also believe Nirvana was mostly Delta, too. The rest seems mostly cohesive.

Great list! A few I'd add off the top of my head are:

    Alpha:
    Andrew Bird (LII)

    They Might Be Giants

    Beta:
    Red Hot Chili Peppers

Die Antwoord (Yolandi is IEI, Ninja is probably SLE or maybe ILE)

    Gamma:

Siouxsie and the Banshees (Siouxsie is LIE?)

Are you expecting me to perform on cue or something?

Granted, my only rebuttal is to call you a fag. Not much better. I know that.

The truth is I get annoyed with all quadra discussion. That this is about music is more annoying. The individual is lost in all of it. You don't know me, nor will I perform so you can find out. But I assure you, I'm not white, have a beard, play folk music, or like Disney movies. And if it's "Ne" and Fi thing to generalize people on these levels, then fuck Deltas for that too.

I'm expecting you to post music you think fits with the subject at hand, or talk about who you think is mistyped. You know, something constructive to the topic at hand instead of idly complaining about it.

Of course these are all generalizations and impressions; I don't think Radio or I are trying to say that every person in each quadra will identify with whatever image the bands posted are putting forth.

Interesting thread Radio. Not familiar with most of the delta bands you posted, but I'm a fan of Gorillaz and Neutral Milk Hotel. I never knew Gorillaz was delta, but they are one of my favorite bands. Demon Days is an incredible album and Neutral Milk Hotel has some great songs.

I kind of relate to what you are saying here about Delta making these generalizations that I sometimes think are just off especially with all the Disney talk and cookie jokes:

that's what I initially suspected as well but now I think maybe he's Si-ISFp. His earlier stuff with Elephant 6 is a lot more Ne-ish; The Gay Parade, Coquelicot Asleep in the Poppies, etc. either he went thru a type change after releasing Satanic Panic in the Attic or he's just overdosing on Fe and Ne. also stuff like this persuade me away from beta, and more towards alpha:

i mean you can see bowie glamming it up (assuming he's beta) but it never veers into self-parody. i think betas are generally more wary of that.

heh i don't know which alpha he would be, my impression from interviews was EXTx, sensing, Ne/Si valuing. Doesn't seem spacey enough to be ENTp, to me.

My feeling is that he is something unusual, like ENFp 9w1 or something... He seems like a positivist in Etype, and he seems to play out conceptual states rather than live in them completely. I recall him referring to his statge presence as an alter-ego and not him.

    these ones are mostly 90s-00s

    Alpha - 13 and God
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THTLAAz8lsY

    Alpha - Mother Mother
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50LShhlkTfw

    Alpha - The Qemists

    Beta - Bliss N Eso
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkkpRE660Ls

Beta - 10 Years, their lead vocalist (the guy in the center) is likely INFp 1w2
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPXUeeFXc90

Beta - Stanton Warriors, most other people who have linked me their remixes have been betas so I guess there is something to it, breakbeat does fit with beta theme
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5_qSX_3P8s

Beta - Asa: finnish rap/hip hop, no idea what the lyrics say but overall it sounds beta
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KV55HduEOKw

Beta - all of Bill Leeb's (Se-ISTj) projects - Front Line Assembly, Delerium, Noise Unit, Intermix, etc.

moar Beta - 30 seconds to mars, The Smiths, Johnny Cash, Tori Amos, PJ Harvey, Pink

either Beta or Gamma - Death in Vegas, music is in NiSe style and their main dude, Richard Fearless, looks like a decisive quadra introvert.

How do you see Rage Against The Machine quadra-wise?

I'd agree with david bowie. But not with nirvana.

    Alanis Morissette (Delta/IEE-Fi):

    G Major (Gemini)

    Kathleen Edwards (?)

    Bb minor (Pisces)

A lot of her songs are like stories too. She really gets into the psychology of at least one of the characters or the narrator, emotionally... I can't think of too many singer/song-writers that do that the same way. She really captures something in a lot of her songs. The song I shared is not necessarily her best or most moving song or whatever, so I don't know if you'd get the idea regarding her strengths....

This is probably a better example of what Kathleen Edwards does. I really liked Asking for Flowers, but I'm not totally fond of her other albums.

These girls are the same quadra. Canadian. No actually I think they are.
