Default Empathy makes the world go round

I was pestered into doing this test here, as linked:

    http://glennrowe.net/BaronCohen/Empa...yQuotient.aspx

I want to know what score you get. And I want to know how you think empathy may figure into socionics.

Mine was 56. A little bit higher than average. Now a friend of mine wants me to question whether I could be an IEE (unlikely) based on this. But empathy happens on a different (lower) level right?

Please forgive my possible incoherence, I am currently intoxicated.

Projection is ordinary. Person A projects at person B, hoping tovalidate something about person A by the response of person B. However, person B, not wanting to be an obejct of someone elses ego and guarding against existential terror constructs a personality which protects his ego and maintain a certain sense of a robust and real self that is different and separate from person A. Sadly, this robust and real self, cut off by defenses of character from the rest of the world, is quite vulnerable and fragile given that it is imaginary and propped up through external feed back. Person B is dimly aware of this and defends against it all the more, even desperately projecting his anxieties back onto person A, with the hope of shoring up his ego with salubrious validation. All of this happens without A or B acknowledging it, of course. Because to face up to it consciously is shocking, in that this is all anybody is doing or can do and it seems absurd when you realize how pathetic it is.

    43.

Some of these questions were weird and not really related to empathy, like this one:

    51. I like to be very organized in day-to-day life and often make lists of the chores I have to do.

Lol a bit macabre but I liked this question:
When I was a child, I enjoyed cutting up worms to see what would happen.

But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

    50. A lot of times with these tests I become too tempted to respond in terms how I think I *should* be instead of how I've acted in the past.

Nothing probably. I'm sure any score on an empathy test will fluctuate depending on various factors, and like radio said - some of those questions seem to have little relevance to empathy anyway.

It's just another test with faults. You could try this short & simple empathy test which is a little more focused and it might make you feel a bit better with the results:

If you really don't understand what good manners have to do with empathy and truly think they are totally arbitrary, then you don't have much empathy I don't "mind my manners most of the time, because doing it feels forced, but...seriously there is something wrong with you if you think verbal communication is only about what you say and not how you say it.

I mind my manners nearly all of the time and it never feels forced. If it feels forced, I don't do it.

Ok phew, im not the only one. Im always so enthusiastic to post my results but then I see others results and feel like a sociopath. I scored lower than Ashton for god sakes...no offense Ashton but you seem like the god of cold hard logic. I guess I'll just go murder children now. I feel strange though. I don't care at all about having friends. Oh well

I was ready to quit the test with the question regarding current trends and fashions.
And then again with the question about enjoying caring for other people.
But I forced myself to finish it.

I agree it's silly, but there IS relevance. Feeling "one" with others etc.

I got 65, but I think it's largely because I'm old and have had tons of time to learn social rules. The test isn't just asking about empathy.

    Your score: 35

    Hmm.

I'm good w/empathy as far as listening to other people's problems and being loving/understanding but in social situations I don't think I'm very empathetic, I'd more or less either would rather just not participate at all or completely have things my way.

I didnt get that far to answer that question, but I couldnt even if I wanted to. We dug up worms from the garden in South Dakota to go fishing with. So... which was less/more empathetic -- fishing with my father or catching a worm, giving it a mini ecosystem contain, and putting it by my night stand? And so on... lol
