    Default bandage tape

Dr took blood from my left arm for tests and now I'm having a really hard time getting the tape off. It's so painful and I'm sick so any little touch is making me feel like passing out. Help; how do I get this off off me?

Have you tried pulling from the skin? As opposed to pulling the tape directly up, that is.

you just got like five answers in the chatbox.

    1. soak it in water or rub an oily substance on it.

    2. rip quickly.

something similar happened to me a couple months ago where i had gauze on my foot and it actually got like embedded in my skin - the gauze. it freaked me out and i tried pulling and soaking and it wouldn't come off and i was like "fuck it i'll just have gauze on my foot forever!!!" and then like 20 minutes later it just fell off easily. so there might be something to jim's idea.

was the oil you tried OLIVE oil? it has to be olive oil, and rub enough of it so that the bandage is sorta soaked with it

I feel like hell. My muscles on my arms and shoulders are beginning to hurt. It's like a throbbing stiff ache.

re: oil... grapeseed oil is very thick and sticky...i'm not sure that it'll be as effective as olive oil... try again with olive if u have it.

lol I, or my type, I don't take being sick very well, and I worry too much when I am; I wonder which types never say they're sick when they are. I act worse than an infantile ISFp; I express way too much discomfort.

Maritsa, you're just impatient. Don't you know that your skin cells are continually dying and regrowing? Just wait for the ones the tape is stuck to to flake off and it'll come off on its own.

This is not really worrying in the sense of being distressed, but sometimes when I'm sick (I rarely am and it's usually just a common cold or something of the like) I like playing with the idea of how irrational it actually is that I trust my body to win the fight against whatever bacteria/virus is attacking it. I can't even consciously know an intruder has entered my system until the symptoms appear, but my body has already started automatically destroying it.. So, with experience, I've learned to trust my body completely and get more annoyed than worried by a runny nose. It's amazing, but kind of weird (even stupid?) at the same time - just because the recovery has happened every time before doesn't logically mean it'll continue to happen forever. It's a fact that everyone's body will eventually fall apart.

Sometimes I really want a nuclear holocaust to weed out all of you cream-assed first world crybabies.

I think it still might prove to be a decent trade off. Weeding out the whiny weaklings of today sounds like a good investment in the future of human kind.

If someone took some blood, and this person was a doctor, I suppose they used a syringe? How can a small sting hurt so much afterwards? And it also doesn't cause a large open wound which may grow on the bandage. Because that's what I actually thought, if you don't change your bandages regularly, it can be very painful. But that's unlikely to happen in this case.

Usually phlebotomists or nurses take blood. But still, at worst it would be a big ugly bruise if they didn't do a good job... shouldn't be a big wound...
