I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

When has she ever shown it? I don't remember anything ever being posted on the forum.

There are software apps & plugins that turn photographs into mimicked pencil work.

Then there are devices that project a photo onto paper so you can draw over it.

There are a variety of techniques and combinations one can use to arrive at such a product, some of which require very little work.

I can't say how these particular ones are made. Allie or someone else here might know better.

A friend is a painter who works from photos. She begins by using a pen to divide a photo into a standard square grid, which is then divided diagonally through each square's corners. This grid is reproduced to scale in pencil on the sheet or canvas on which she sketches and then reproduces the photo in paint. She is capable of photorealistic work though her clients usually prefer something that visibly bears the marks of a painter's brushes and personal aesthetics rather than a perfectly lifelike image.

And although projectors and the like are a great aid in these sorts of endeavors, actual skill is still necessary to create anything more than a good tracing.

Whenever I see photorealism, all I can think of is why not just use a camera?

I do think that the level and technique used in the drawings are amazing.
At the same time, for me, they lack the soul of either a well taken photo or a picture drawn from eye (or even with drawing aids), I can't substantiate this of course, but it seems like the pencil has stripped the eyes of their life, which would have been retained by either photo or an expressive painting. Amazing, none the less.
