    Default Whitney Houston

The queen is dead. Let's type her.

Whitney Elizabeth Houston (August 9, 1963 – February 11, 2012) was an American singer, actress, producer, and model. Houston was the most awarded female act of all time, according to Guinness World Records.[3] Her list of awards includes 2 Emmy Awards, 6 Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards, among a total of 415 career awards as of 2010. Houston was also one of the world's best-selling music artists, having sold over 170 million albums, singles and videos worldwide.

    Some song lyrics:

    "Greatest Love Of All"

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be
    Everybody searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone to fulfill my needs
    A lonely place to be
So I learned to depend on me

    [Chorus:]
I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can't take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all
    Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
    Inside of me
    The greatest love of all
    Is easy to achieve
    Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

    [Chorus]

And if by chance, that special place
    That you've been dreaming of
Leads you to a lonely place
    Find your strength in love
    "I Know Him So Well"

Nothing is so good it lasts eternally
    Perfect situations must go wrong
But this has never yet prevented me
From wanting far too much for far too long
Looking back, I could have done it differently
Won a few more moments, who can tell?
But it took time to understand the man
Now at least I know, I know him well

Wasn't it good, Wasn't it fine
Isn't it madness he can't be mine
But in the end, he needs a little more than before
Security, he needs his fantasy and freedom
    I know him so well

No one in your life is with you constantly
No one is completely on your side
And though I move my world to be with him
Still the gap between us is too wide
Looking back, I could have played it differently
Learned about the man before I fell
But I was ever so much younger then

Wasn't it good (oh so good), Wasn't it fine (so fine)
Isn't it madness he can't be mine

Didn't I know how it would go
If I knew from the start
    Why am I falling apart

    Wasn't it fine
Isn't it madness he can't be mine
But in the end, he needs a little more than before
Security, he needs his fantasy and freedom
    I know him so well
It took some to understand him
Hoo ooh I know him so well

Whitney Houston won an impressive six Grammys in fourteen years.

Slightly less impressive was her recent attempt at six grams in fourteen minutes.

Her song lyrics aren't particularly relevant as she didn't write them.

I guess I don't have a problem wtih ESE but OTOH I don't have a strong opinion on her type.

What's the difference between her and queen latifa/oprah, they're not the same person? I was never a big fan of opera.

Officially, we don't even know the whole story of what killed her, so people stop judging so much.
She was super talented, and yes she made some big mistakes. Addiction is hard to get out of.
She comes off as a very kind person, and she blessed so many other people.

This thread suggests IEI or at least Beta NF: http://www.the16types.info/vbulletin...hitney+Houston

Personally, I think IEI is quite possible. The way she draws people in, in her Diane Sawyer interview, comes off as IEI-like to me. I've noticed that sometimes when IEIs are in an outward mode, they can seem super-extraverted, and sometimes make people think of ESE over EIE, especially if they're adept with their voice &/or looks.

On the other hand, some of the other interviews seem more EFx, so I'm not totally sure.

She is not an dominant type, I would say she is ENFp. She doesn't have the stage presence like an ESFj or ENFj; but she could garner attention because of demonstrative. Also her songs seem to be more of a focus on and her energy comes across, imo, like Oprah who is not an ENFj but rather an ENFp.

Here's an interesting assessment of her that describes her as shy and friendly. Not that "shy" means introvert, but it's interesting that her performances on stage or in interviews may lead people to seeing her as flamboyant and outward, whereas that's not necessarily how she came across to people around her:

She was very shy. She was always very shy. This is just my opinion: Her shyness might have even been partially related to her drug problem. I think she had a fear of performing. She was a shy girl and she was very charming. She was adorable. She always had a big smile on her face and she was always very friendly to me and friendly to everyone.

I never found her to have any kind of an attitude. She wasn't really a diva like the other divas, you know what I mean? She didn't have diva scabs on her forehead. She was really nice, caring.

You need to get past preconceived notions of each type and once you do this you can "feel" the difference in a dominant function and demonstrative use of a function. And why do you think you're an INFj when you're an obvious INTp?

Good point. I wasn't implying that she must be an introvert...only that (like many performers), her stage persona may be deceptive. EIE seems quite possible regarding her stage style. Hitler is an odd one (and I wouldn't use the term celeb :-); I get why he's typed EIE, as it seems to go along with the orator persona and a certain sense of fighting for some belief. But somehow I wonder if he would have come off as EIE at all before he started his public speaking.

I get an overwhelming IEI vibe from her. As for ESFJ, not seeing the smirk. EIE... where are the puppy dog eyes?

She always came off to me as a narcissist. I suspect passive conflict seeking ("If everyone did drugs and did hard liquor, it would be a better world!"). And yeah I'll take a guess at future temporal orientation. Just a hunch.
