This kinda reminds me , when I was a little boy there was this mysterious aura over stephen king's head. Like his words were able to shock me and get under my skin somewhat and I liked that he could do that. Now that I'm older though, and lived through more- it comes across as kind of campy instead of provoking.

idk I understand it makes people feel powerful to troll others but sometimes I wish authors had more up their sleeves then just emotional trolling. A lot of times there's no substance or tempo to it and it's just done for dramatic effect.

Like Joss Whedon's trolling has gotten way too obvious. He makes a character redeem himself and finally 'get it' all at once and then kills them off, or he gives somebody what they always wanted for three seconds and then takes it away from them so they will turn dark.
